Does anyone know about what time they do the turndown service at the Polynesian Concierge?I want to leave a seperate tip for the turndown service and would like to know what time I would have to get back by to leave it.

We make tip envelopes labelling them "housekeeping" or "turndown service". If we know we're going to be gone all day, we leave both on the nightstand. We've never had any trouble doing this.

Thanks thats a great idea and I wont worry about having to run back to the room

Don't mean to sound dumb, but what does turndown service at WDW entail?

I travel all the time for business and Marriott hotels often have turndown service, but all it seems to be is that they close the curtains and turn down the bed. Is WDW offering more?

Turndown service is great! :) They turn down the beds, refresh the towel supply, mints on the pillows, take out trash, dim the lights, turn on the TV, and sometimes leave special "surprises". :) It's almost like having your room cleaned twice a day. We love it because we shower in the afternoons. :)

Does Poly Concierge automatically have this...or do you have to request this service?

I've never tipped for turndown service. I simply ask a cute CM out for a drink, she politely says "no" and I slink back to my DW - never failed to get a "turn down." ;)

Do you tip your turndown person and your mousekeeper every day or do you wait until the end of your stay? My husband says you wait until the end of your stay, but I'm not sure what everyone else does or what the "correct" way is. Also, how much is standard to give for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My opinion - which is shared by others both here and on Las Vegas newsgroups - is that if you tip, tip daily; you never know if your last day is your housekeeper's day off and some substitute gets whatever you leave.

How much? ::Eeep:: Wide range of opinions here. $3-5 housekeeper; $1-3 turndown. YMMV.

It's automatic.

Thanks DrTomorrow for the good info. I was never quite sure about this on previous trips. Now we will know what to do when we tip our mousekeepers!

P.S. How do you like the Grand Californian? We absolutely LOVE it!
