Turn off your Xmas Lights!

I am hiring! I need a person to go to my neighbor's house and cut the wires on the lights on the pine trees in their yard. Yes they are Xmas lights and yes they are annoying to me. They are multi-color lights and have been on since November. They took down all the rest of their decorations just not the lights on the trees. And yes they turn on every night.

Why exactly does this annoy me so much??? I have no idea but it does.

Thank you, vent over.

I think I'd actually enjoy seeing some bright colored lights now instead of just snow out there.

There is a house near me that puts lights up for every holiday. Their Christmas lights are down but their red and pink Valentine's day lights are up. In a month the green and orange St. Patrick's day lights will be up. Then they can leave the red, white, and blue ones up all summer for Memorial Day and the 4th. It's seems a bit much for me but I always know what the next holiday is :thumbsup2

Perhaps if they were changing with the seasons, it might not bother me however they are Christmas'y.

I am glad you are not my neighbor. With all this snow our Christmas lights are going to be up until July! We don't turn them on but they are there. We can't even get anything out of the ground. They are buried and frozen. I am thinking of putting a few pink flamingos out there for good measure.:lmao:

My friends family has there lights on year round, they also have a huge santa on there fence that goes on year round. There reasoning? They cant reach the timer switch to turn them off (its in a junk filled basement). This probally also explains why there lights come on during the day LOL

I would love to see some lights out, even Christmas lights. If we had put ours up this year, they would still be getting put on each night since we won't be taking them down til the snow melts.

I rather enjoy and appreciate the lights on throughout our community. The lights brighten the long, dark and cold winter nights. Lights shining on fresh snow is even more beautiful! It's cold, dark and gloomy long enough here in the midwest. :confused3

we have a family near us that keeps the tree, stockings and whole 9 yards up until the begining of March. Don't you get sick of looking at it? I don't get it, but to each their own.

Turn off your Xmas Lights!

I like it too! :thumbsup2

I am following in my dad's footsteps and all my lights stay up until the Steelers are finished for the year...so they are still up right now. I only have indoor lights so I doubt anyone even notices.

But I think Christmas lights are real pretty all the time, and if I ever get a house with a nice backyard I might like to have yellow lights up in the summer outside.

In honor of all the snowstorms we are having, I have left my white icicle lights on my terrace, and will do so until there is NO SNOW in the forecast. They cheer me up - I had them on all day today because it was so dark and dreary outside. :cool1:

In 1996 my Mom kept saying she didn't want to take down her little Christmas tree. I told her keep it as long as it pleases you. She kept it up til March. She passed unexpectedly that July - I was so glad she did what she wanted - it was her last tree.

At my house we put up a mixture of white and colored lights both indoors and outdoors each year. The colored lights outside get turned off right after new years day and the colored lights on the xmas tree come down then too.

However.... the white lights on my porch wreath, small pine tree with white lights in backyard and white icicle lights on patio stay up and on until March!!! And inside I take down the Santas and stockings from my mantle but the white lights stay on until March as well. Winter is so dreary in Michigan and we need something cheery.

:santa:

The McDonald's restaurant near me still has their Christmas lights up, lol. Makes me wonder how on the ball they are. Like, are we also eating old, stale food?? Not that anyone going to McDonald's is all that concerned about their health in the first place, :rotfl: (I kid, I kid. I like me some McDonald's. (Just not from the one with the Christmas lights still on).

My mom cant get to her lights b/c of the snow, we got the 38 inches after Christmas and it continues to snow at least once a week here. The 38 inches is now down to 8-10 inches, last night we got ice rain, DD didn't even have school today. So everyone around here still has their outdoor lights up. Sorry, can't help it.

OP here...if the snow is bad and you're lights are still up I understand. Just don't turn them on! That said, this neighbor is the anal neighbor. First to mow her lawn, first to shovel the drive, etc. She took down ALL her other lights and decorations but left up the tree lights.

I also have to wonder why she is doing it? Her dh has told people that she won't run the dryer, hangs everything in the basement, to save money...and yet the lights are on.

I just find it odd to have the lights on so long after Xmas.

I know it's none of my business but hey, I'm stick in the house during a winter storm. I have to do something. :)

Ours are still up, too. We can't get to the cords to unplug them because of the snow- and even if we could get to them we are not risking electricution to turn them off! So, until things dry up around here, not gonna happen. We have gotten 38 inches of snow in one storm and another 14 in this week's blizzard.
