Turn Down Service

if you are not a concierge guest you just need to request it at the Deluxe resorts only!

I'm not sure if this is still the case, but at the Grand Floridian, non-concierge guests get turndown service automatically. At least we did last year!

When we stayed at GF about 5 years ago (regular room), they also freshened up the bathroom (replacing any dirty towels), filled up the ice bucket and left chocolates & a disney card.

Thank you to those who responded with information instead of snide comments. As you can see by DebbieB's response, there is more to turn down service than "pulling the covers down".

we stayed at the GF last year (concierge) and were told that all rooms at the resort get TD service now.

I loved the little note cards they left on the nightstand...so sweet :) and YES they left our tv on it freaked me out the first time LOL. it was left on the disney world info channel.

loved it, esp. the fresh towels we go through a ton of them with my family lol :) may have to request it at the CR next month LOL

Does the turndown service cost or is it complimentary at the deluxe resorts?

one time when we stayed at CBR our mousekeeper would leave our TV on - VERY LOUDLY - and arrange what stuffed animals we had around the bed 'watching' TV.

cute and all - but we left our room at 8am and didn't come back until after dinner...I feel bad for anyone trying to take a nap in the adjoining rooms...that TV was LOUD!

I, personally, don't like when they leave the TVs/Radios on...1) waste of engergy 2)why? so I can hear sound when I come into my room? naw!

another good thing of TD service I've heard...from parents of infants...the removal of dirty diapers mid-day.

It's free to all deluxe resort guests, and it is automatic to guests at the GF as well as any concierge guest; it must be requested otherwise.

I never use the turndown service but I do like to avail myself of the "help me pick out my clothes for the day" service. It's so nice to know I'm not going to have to worry about this chore each morning when all I have to do is request a CM come and do it for me. I feel so special...Next trip I'm going to use the "personal guide to the chaise lounges at the pool service" (including towels and suntan lotion)...I just know this will make my stay 'that' much more enjoyable. :teeth:

OH, puhleeze!

This is just what Bibbidy Bobbidy Boo was referring to concerning the snide comments.

If she or anyone else wants to have this service it is their right and really none of anyone elses business. I've had an liked this at Hard Rock Hotel and Royal Pacific, along with WK, AKL, and the Poly. I'll pretty much do anything for a chocolate, anyway (really, chocolate gives me migraines... :( ). With a family it's nice to have fresh towels, too.

Now if they can just provide a foot massage at the end of along day at WDW I will forever stay at deluxes!

Peter Pirate,

You can do like me and have Mom put each day's clothes in a separate bag. Makes mornings much quicker :p

LisaZoe, great idea...Will your mom do it for me too?

T&B, I am fully aware of what was said and meant and that is exactly why I said it...Humor never killed anyone...Even pathetically bad humor!

OK, I'll let you off the hook for bad humor... If I didn't have bad humor I'd have no humor at all. :teeth:

Yes, a baggy for each outfit would help me, but I need to get the 2 gallon ziplock bags, first.

It is free but I leave a tip. I LOVE it as I do have diapers!

Peter Pirate-did you see the Travel Channel special this weekend on luxury travel? One woman went on vacation with NOTHING-let concierge buy all her cosmetics, clothes, even undies.

YIKES!

Let's hope the concierge had taste or she could have ended up looking like a cross between Tammy Faye and Christina Aguliera (not a pretty thought)...:3dglasses

Sorry, Peter, she said no (isn't that just like a Mom?).

lovesdumbo, what show was that? I'd like to catch it on a rerun to see what the prima donna looks like and if she even tries to justify this extravagance. I can see wanting some pampering when on vacation but that is extreme.

As for turndown service, I certainly see some of the appeal although I have to admit I'd feel awkward requesting it. If DD was still in diapers, though, I'd probably consider requesting an extra garbage pickup if not the full TD service.

We have used turn down at AKL and the BC. We just requested it on the first day of our stay, and asked to have it done all week. We love it. We usually go back to the room during the afternoon for my daughters to have a swim. Then they shower and we go back out. It is so nice to come back to the room late at night and have the bathroom stocked with fresh towels. When we were at the AKL at Christmas time, we had outstanding turndown service. The housekeeper left all sorts of special things like towel animals, towel arrangements (sort of like she made a picture with some twisted up hand towels), extra chocolates, some Ghiradelli chocolates, and on the last night, a big thank you to our family, along with a big chocolate medallion that had the AKL logo on it.

We left her what I thought of as a nice tip each evening.

We love turndown svc. at the GF, esp. DD5! She still asks, "Will the Mousekeepers come in and turn on the TV and leave us chocolates? Remember that, Mommy? I love when they do that!" It makes a big impression on her, and the room is that much more welcoming after a long, but fun, day! :)
