Turkey Legs - Yummy treat or nasty abomination?

Turkey legs - yummy treat or nasty abomination?

  • Turkey legs - ooooh, turkey legs (Homer voice). Yummy!

  • Turkey legs - eewwwwww. Nastiest stuff this side of a Fear Factor food-eating contest

  • I have no sense of taste and/or smell, so I have no opinion either way

Just curious what others thought. I have to admit that they smell pretty good when my tummy is rumbling in MK, but when I actually see them, I start to get a little :crazy2: at the sight of them. Please submit your answers on this crucially important topic.

One vote for NASTY here!

I think you may have posted before I got the chance to upload my scientific poll on the subject. You need to vote. It's the only way your voice, and the people's voice, will be heard on this matter.

I don't eat anything with bones, so I've never had one, but my DH and three DDs looooove these things. And I have to admit they smell awfully good. If they made these in the boneless skinless variety, I'm sure I'd like 'em!

I've heard that they are not really turkey, but actually EMU legs . . . ;) ;) ;)

This brings to mind the Wiggles song about moving around like an emu. Instead of their video with little kids moving around like emus, they could just have the kids waving around "turkey" legs. I guess that would be an emu moving around. :rotfl2:

It's a neck and neck race so far. Unbelievably, 2 people on here apparently have no sense of smell and/or taste. In the case of the turkey legs, that may be a good thing.

Editing to say: now it's THREE people who have no sense of taste or smell! Wow, it's an epidemic.

They are really disgusting! One of the kids goaded me into buying one one trip, and all four of our family members took a bite. The Emu, virually unscathted, promptly went into the first trash can available!

:crazy2:

I've said it once and I'll say it again. We are an Anti-Turkey Leg Family™.

I'm not a fan of dark meat poultry in the first place. But, the one I tried (about a year ago) was especially fou(w)l :)

Seriously, they're nasty.

There will be no fowl language in this thread! ;)

Picture this: An overweight man, with hairy back and shoulders, wearing a tanktop, eating a greasy turkey leg in public.

There's no need to. I've seen far too many turkey/emu/ham legs, attached firmly to the mouths of many such people, to ever scrub it from my brain. :scared:

Honestly, the most disgusting thing that I've ever had. When I was there a few years ago, I had to convince my DW (then GF) that they would be good. I couldn't let her know how bad it was, so I ate about half of it. Couldn't hide it from her and she still brings it up all the time. When we go back in May, no legs for me....and I hope that I don't see any but I doubt that.
