I'd like to hear from people who have actually eaten these. Every year we say we're going to try one - it just seems like the "Disney" thing to do. But, so far, no one has gotten up the nerve to try one. Are they cooked well? Are they tasty? I don't know - ordering a big hunk of poultry like that just seems scary to me!

I've never seen the attraction of these things. It certainly doesn't seem like a "Disney thing to do" to me. Maybe if I liked dark meat.... Nah.

OOhh ya! There a must eat. Weve had them at MGM on a hot hot day with a cold beer and recently just had one on the Disney magic cruiseship during there Pirate party. There a must for me each time we visit. Very tasty:thumbsup2

We are alsways laughing at the people eating these things they look so barbaric. Well this past trip my two dd's keep saying they was going to get one. Me I wanted to try a dole whip. Well she kept flipping back & forth and finally the last day bought one. They enjoyed it and are pretty picky eaters. It was well cooked and they said tasty. I didn't try it but took pictures of them eating it. Have a look.....

I also was very curious about them , I had one last time we were there and did not like it.......But I am not a fan of Dark meat Turkey.....:confused3

Our local pumpkin patch sells them. While they are wonderful, I find them very hard to eat. They are generally really hot and greasy.

I've heard that they are good. I myself have never tried one. Like others have said, I have no interest in eating one. They look sloppy and it's waay too much food for me. They smell delicious though!

We tried them and we're all set now. We were really excited to try them after they were featured on an episode of Unwrapped on the Food Network. We were really disappointed. First of all, they don't taste like turkey at all. (So that may be a plus if you don't like dark meat turkey) Someone described them as ham on a stick, and that is more what they tasted like to us. They are also "pink" which seemed so unappetizing to us. Thank goodness our meal came with chips..at least we had something to fill our tummies with until dinner.

They are good. My Dh and I always end up sharing one so that we dont get too full on all the goodies.

These are good, they taste a lot like ham (and similar color too) because they're smoked.

We first tried the turkey legs at Magic Kingdom, then again at MGM. It is a lot of meat, too much for a light eater to manage alone, but good to split. I recommend getting them at MGM for two reasons: 1) better to eat smoked/salty/greasy food with a crisp, cold beer than a sweet soft drink, and they don't sell beer at MK; and 2) there's a little handwashing area/sink right at the fruit stand near the seating area where they sell the turkey legs, so you don't have to run around looking for a washroom

I recommend getting some plastic forks and knives at the condiments station and cutting the turkey leg up, it's heavy and rather warm to hold starting out, and you don't really need to gnaw it until you've cut some of the bigger pieces off. Pick up a few honey mustard dips and lots of napkins before heading out for your table. Oh, and you may want to be carrying dental floss or some toothpicks to duck into the washroom with later... :scared:

DD and I love both dark meat and smoked meat, so we both love the turkey legs! I even the love the regular turkey legs at thanksgiving, so the dark meat isn't an issue, but I can see if you only like breast meat that it might be for some people.

These are awesome, smoked turkey so its more like ham, delicious:banana: We usually get them at the American pavilion in epcot and eat at a table outside. They are a favorite for our kids. very reasonable price for a quick lunch. Sometimes there is a cart outside that sells them, but if the cart is not open you can order them from the CS restaurant there even though they do not appear on the menu.

Thanks for the responses everybody. The thought of trying one this year doesn't seem so scary now! Will DEFINITELY follow the suggestion of eating with a cold beer!:thumbsup2

We've had MANY turkey legs, and I've never thought to pick up a dip!! Great suggestion!

We also share our turkey legs(that taste like ham), buying 2 for our family of 5. And I always carry floss, which is a necessity for the bits that don't make it to your tummy! :rolleyes1

We got one on our last trip and we really liked it. It kinda tasted like ham to me. Will be sure to get one when we go this summer.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I cannot tell you all how happy I am to find that I'm not the only one who thinks they taste just like ham!!

I thought I was crazy...or that we just got a bad one!

Ok, this is a must have for me on all my trips. They do taste like ham, but I love them.......HOWEVER! The trip we made for cheer nationals in Dec 2004. got my turkey leg in MGM, tasted fine. That night and the next day,,,OMG,,,not a good thing, in the bathroom alot!!!!! I was so afraid to eat one after that, but I did on our last trip and it was fine. Who knows if it was the turkey that made me sick or I was getting sick anyone.....??? :confused3

On my first trip they looked sooo good but I did not get one. I swore I would next time and I did. It was not good. Very greasy and tons of fat. :scared: The meat was very tasty but I couldn't get past all the disgusting fat.

Are they all this way? Or did I just get a bad one? Cause I'd really like to give them another chance!
