We were up in Toronto in October celebrating Thxsgiving with Turkey and all the fixings.......yum!

And tomorrow we get to do it all over again! Our neighbours are taking pity on us poor Canadians and have invited us for turkey and all the fixings (again!)

Great idea........Thanksgiving once a month!!!

I'm making Butter Tarts. The funny thing is no one knows what they are. I really didn't know they are a Canadian thing. Another to add to the list!

I just can't seem to get into the tradition of getting up on Friday to hit the stores at 5am! So you won't see me out there. I guess it's my Canadian roots......November.......5am.......cold/snow and miserable.
It's going to be cold (about 35F) but shopping in the dark. No thanks!

Happy Un-Thanksgiving to all my Canadian DISers friends......I'll have a piece of pie for y'all!

For Shame, Shame, Shame!

You have not lived until you've done the Black Friday Thing!

I miss it sooooo much! Ever since I started this job it's hard to take Fridays off! Men just don't understand the shopping thing!LOL

Happy Un~ThanksGiving!

Enjoy your dayssssss off!

It is only THE BIGGEST SHOPPING DAY OF THE YEAR!

It the official kick of the Christmas Shopping Season!

To get a better idea of just how big it is, watch the US news on Friday!

It is not for the timid!

Happy UnThanksgiving!

The weather here is awful today. The newscast at 6am said there was jack knifed tractor trailers on the 404! I'm not going in to work today!

Have a great day today. I won't be making the sales tomorrow, however we are taking our guest from England to Niagara Falls and possibly over the bridge on Saturday. I'm sure we'll still catch some sales then!

Oh ya, we did the new Vaughan Mills mall yesterday. It was really nice, but you can get those stores pretty much at any mall. The Bass Outdoor store was really cool though.

Happy Un-Thanksgiving! We are headed to friends who live just outside of Toledo tomorrow morning, and staying until Sat night. My plan is to hit a few stores tomorrow afternoon ... ya know, while the die-hard 5AM'ers are home recuperating, and before they get their second wind.

You should have seen the paper today!
I felt really sorry for our carrier. It was about the size of two Toronto Star Saturday - mostly Black Friday flyers!

I might venture out - Scratch you made me feel bad ;) but not at 5am! (Hey - I can always use that Disney Visa of mine.......hee-hee)

I'm off for Turkey!

Have a good day y'all :sunny:

Hey....hey....hey....Snowwark.....

SHARE!!!!!!!!

And I HATE Black Friday. (But I love to eat!!!!!)

A little birdie told me twere so....

Howzabout a recipe for those butter tarts......:hyper:

No way, it's an ancient Canadian secret!!! ;) :p

How 'bout I bring a recipe with me?

Chirp chirp......:smooth:

Have to weigh in here:

a) butter tarts (no clue before visiting Canada frequently) just may be Canada's best food item...I like them best with pecans and raisans....to me, they're like "little individuall shoo-fly pies" (a local PA treat). And I generally find the food (restaurants/otherwise) to generally be a notch or two below US standards...so quite a compliment here! (an unintentionally controversial thread covered this topic a while back!!!)

b) Black Friday? I don't get the scene....the same stuff in the malls at 5 am on Black Friday will be there forevermore on any other day!

I didn't know why it was called "Black" Friday until yesterday when our Minister told us that it is the one shopping day of the year that puts the stores into the black for the year. If they don't get into the black after Friday they're in trouble.

Don't know if this is true but it seemed to make sense to me.

Happy Cloudy, Cold Monday Everyone!!
