Turkey Day Gang 2009

I grew up in Schaumburg and my aunt lived in Bartlett. My parents still live there and my sister lives in carol stream....stay warm.

Small world. My husband grew up in Schaumburg. What year did you graduate and what school did you go to? His parents still live their and we go to church there.
It's not too cold today just VERY wet!!

Hi all,

I survived week one of my new job. The bags under my eyes are large enough to pack all of my clothing in for the entire cruise....and I still have 2 HUD grants to go. But...it's Saturday!!!!!! The sun is shining!!!!! (Something I haven't seen in quite a while!) So, I'm feeling good!

Now t-shirt update. I haven't had a moment's peace this whole week so I will be getting totals out to everyone later today (or tomorrow). They are ordered (yippee!) and I should get them by November 4. Lisa, when do you leave? I know this is cutting it a bit close for some...but if I get them on November 4, I'll mail them out on November 5 and everyone should have them by November 12 (at the latest...I would think)!

Sorry I haven't contributed to the post count lately...no time! But I'll do my part this weekend.

Laura-line, welcome to the cruise! My DS (Andrew) is 11 1/2 (and I've been reminded that I need to add the 1/2) and could pass for 15+. He started a kids thread...can't find the link to it at the moment but it's something like Turkey Day 2009 Kids Thread...so your son may want to post over there.

Andrew has the count-down going...but at the moment, my count down is 20 days until the HUD grants have to be submitted, so that's the only one I'm focusing on at the moment.

More later (I hope),

Karen

I would love the thread for my son...what a cool idea!! I will try it in the search engine.
Thanks!! And good luck with your own countdown!!

found it! Your son sounds like such a nice kid!!

Hi Turkey Gang,

Newbie here...my husband and 13 year old son are going to be on the Magic this coming Thanksgiving. Anyone else going with kids that age?

I have a 12yo (13 in Jan). He doesn't know about the cruise yet.

I am from Arlington Heights originally, but live in Apopka, FL now. My family is still in IL. My brother lives in Palatine and my cousin lived in Schaumburg (and went to Fremd- I went to Rolling Meadows).

My cousin's husband's family lives on Charlene in Schaumburg. Looks like they are just a few blocks from your parents!

Went to the Food and Wine Festival last night and had a wonderful time as always. I REALLY hope and am praying for beautiful weather for our trip!

27 more days!!! That means only 19 days left of school! Woo Hoo! :cool1:

We had a great time meeting everyone today. It makes everything and everybody so real and that it is getting closer. You could sense everyone's excitement about the cruise. My boys had a great time and were glad to meet some other kids their ages that they will know.

Paula - count me in for martini tasting!

It was a great time! My DS9 said all the kids were cool and is looking forward to doing all the 'science stuff' with the other kids! I am so glad it worked out. I think it help the kids (and parents) to know more people on the cruise. We are looking forward to seeing everyone in a few short weeks!
The pic is too cute!
