Turkey Day Gang 2009

Chuck is right....I always look for the tall guys, but now that I board concierge I am not sure I can lower myself to hang out with the number borders :) :rotfl:

The pictures will be awhile....I had to work all day yesterday and then my friend who took all the pictures called and left message that her son has the flu and he had the flu shot a few months ago. So now she is trying to figure out how to take care of him and get her and her husband to work.

Plus I am headed to a conference for three days

Laura please let us know your room number and ages of those non-adults participating so we can update the list and I need to make extra bags.

can you tell me about this?

hiya Laura -- do you have aim? if so IM me on alwayslisad and I will catch you up to speed...if not holler back and I will do my best to write it out on here....

Just came back from my pre op appt. w/ the internist and the surgeon. I asked the surgeon if I will be ok for the cruise. Luckily, she said that I will be fine!! :thumbsup2 :cool1: I may be extra tired, but otherwise she anticipates no problems!! :cool1: :thumbsup2 It is much better to relax on a disney cruise then to relax at home!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

ok - I see you have signed off -- so I will do my best to describe the FISH EXTENDER idea...

http://112109.blogspot.com/
this is the site that was created for us to post who was in our rooms and if we wanted to participate in the FE gift exchange.

what happens is that a group of us are planning on exchanging gifts to each other --- right now I think there are 34 rooms taking part....

You can make a small gift - or you can make a goodie bag - and deliver one of the presents to each of the group - so that in the end you get 34 small bags of presents or something like that.... on the main page there is a post about it...

Cruise doc arrived for one of our two rooms today!:cool1:
I am starting to get excited though I know the next few weeks will be extrememly busy. My goal for this week is to finalize our FE gifts decide on
a FE and get all the misc stuff gathered in my cruise storage tub. I have been collecting stuff for a month now so it is all in one place. I have pulled out the battery operated lights for the balcony and bought a few small thanksgiving decorations for the room. Also a few gifts for the kids bags. Still having a tough time with what to put in the 17 year old's bags. Any suggestions?
Irene

FE's (Fish Extenders) are pocketed bags that can be hung from the fish note holders outside all the cabins. They can actually be bought on ebay. Basically, those participating in FE's deliver goodie bags or miscellaneous tschockies one or more times during the trip. More often than not the stuff is geared towards the kids, but adults are accommodated as well. One place to look in particular for stuff is Oriental Trading Company or similar "stores", or some of the dollar stores in your town or city. We have participated in FE's on virtually every trip.

As to Laura's second question, was not clear which part of the quote it was directed to. The FE's are explained above. The tall guys was part of a comment that since many of us have ordered the same tshirts, we will be collectively easy to spot in the terminal....the pictures comment was directed to Michelle's Halloween party and costume.

Hey has anyone received their cruise doc's yet?

Rob

We got them today!! Yippee!!!!! We are all RIDICULOUSLY excited! :cheer2::yay::woohoo: :jumping1:

Last night I mentioned that 4 weeks from now, we'll be eating dinner in Palo. I then explained to the kids that they could (a) go to the dining room with our friends, (b) eat dinner with the club/lab or (c) order room service before going to the club/lab. Can you guess which one they chose?? DD10 is thrilled with the idea of ordering from room service! :thumbsup2 It's the little things, sometimes, that seem so exciting. :yay:

Meanwhile, the kids (and teachers!) at my school are getting hit hard with H1N1... One K class had only 6 children (out of 19)! :scared: So far, so good for my household. Guess I picked the wrong year to start working in a school....

Stay healthy! :sunny:

Thanks for the FE info. I think I will take a pass on this...too much pressure for me! I hope that is ok?!

Before I can post how much I enjoyed meeting up with Sherreis, DusterMom02 and Scullysiz, I promised jeniamt that I would order the cruise bracelets for our group.

Was a particular color decided on (I know DusterMom02 chose blue)? Who else has ordered the bracelets and what color did you choose?

TIA

Judi

I ordered 4 for us and 4 for the family we are traveling with...BLUE.

Had a great time meeting some fellow cruisers! Didn't get a picture of the whole group because by the time I thought of getting my camera out, half the group had left. Anyway... here's a bunch of the kids, don't they look like little soldiers. So well behaved :rotfl2: :rotfl2: (of course I'm only referring to my three :thumbsup2 )

What a cute bunch of shiney faced kids!!!!!! They are fantastic.

He will LOVE IT!!! When are you telling him?

November first is our big "telling" day. We went last year too, so I don't think that they think it's possible that there is another one coming. We booked onboard.

I can't wait to see their faces! We are traveling with friends this time (in addition to all of you, of couse). The kids in our group are DS 12, BFF's DS 13, DD11, BFF's DD 15.

I am hosting a brunch on Sunday for the big reveal.

You must be so excited!! Honestly, I admire those of you who can keep something like this a secret. I would be ready to burst! :rotfl: Can't wait to hear how it goes! Have your friends ever cruised before?

Have a fun brunch!

I just noticed in the picture of the kids that Sheri and I are in the background. I am on the left and Sheri is on the right. I am holding onto my passporter diligently!

Chuck/Lisa- we are right down the hall from you on Deck 6! We'll call down to you from the veranda! LOL :thumbsup2

Lauras Line,

I'm Karen ...aka the t-shirt lady. If you want to get shirts for your crew, let me know ASAP! I got the proof back today and it looks terrific! All the weird spacing issues that I worry about have been taken care of (by the way, the printer said that if I ever wanted a detail job, he'd hire me...needless to say I :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: and then explained that I was a writer and was a stickler for proof reading copy!)

At any rate, I digress (what else is new)...the shirts are supposed to be printed by Friday and sent to me so this is ABSOLUTELY the last call for shirts!

I'm still working on catching up with those PMs...sorry, but it's been nuts lately! I'll get a list out in just a bit.

Karen

Hi Karen...I just sent you a PM regarding 2 shirts for my boys since I may need them to help with revealing the cruise to them.

Thanks!
Lynn

Does anyone mind if I post the sizes here to confirm? The printer wants a confirmation from me by tomorrow (yikes!). Also, are you all OK if I post your totals here instead of sending PMs to everyone...I'm just really short on time right now.

Thanks,

Karen

For the magnetly challenged, does anyone have any Turkey Day cruise designs they could share? I would love to have something specific for my family for the cruise. All the things I have put off until closer to time and now it's closer to time and I have a lot to do!! I can't believe my next pedicure will be the one for the cruise!!! I'm going for red toe nails with white polka dots in honor of Minnie Mouse!! I need to take a day off work to get my hair and toes done and finish up my FE's.

I hope everyone has a good evening!

Lynn
