Turkey Day Gang 2009

Laura-

Where in Illinois are you from? There are quite a few former Illinois residents on this cruise!! :thumbsup2 I am originally from Skokie (a northern suburb of Chicago). Cruise Crazy (Michelle) and her husband are from Illinois as well and I believe there are others on the thread.

Lisa

We are in Bartlett. Do you know where that is?

Sorry Michelle! I did not mean to imply that you implied that I was not nice LOL!!!

I pretty much had handled it exactly the way you suggested...they still weren't very helpful. Very undisneyfied.

Is there any good snorkelling off the beach in St. Thomas or do I need an excursion?

We are in Bartlett. Do you know where that is?

I grew up in Schaumburg and my aunt lived in Bartlett. My parents still live there and my sister lives in carol stream....stay warm.

Hi all,

I survived week one of my new job. The bags under my eyes are large enough to pack all of my clothing in for the entire cruise....and I still have 2 HUD grants to go. But...it's Saturday!!!!!! The sun is shining!!!!! (Something I haven't seen in quite a while!) So, I'm feeling good!

Now t-shirt update. I haven't had a moment's peace this whole week so I will be getting totals out to everyone later today (or tomorrow). They are ordered (yippee!) and I should get them by November 4. Lisa, when do you leave? I know this is cutting it a bit close for some...but if I get them on November 4, I'll mail them out on November 5 and everyone should have them by November 12 (at the latest...I would think)!

Sorry I haven't contributed to the post count lately...no time! But I'll do my part this weekend.

Laura-line, welcome to the cruise! My DS (Andrew) is 11 1/2 (and I've been reminded that I need to add the 1/2) and could pass for 15+. He started a kids thread...can't find the link to it at the moment but it's something like Turkey Day 2009 Kids Thread...so your son may want to post over there.

Andrew has the count-down going...but at the moment, my count down is 20 days until the HUD grants have to be submitted, so that's the only one I'm focusing on at the moment.

More later (I hope),

Karen

Hey guys. Just wanted to let you know that I cancelled my 11:30 brunch for 2 on 11/26. Thought someone might want to grab it.

Jodie

We're back from the MD turkey gang meeting! It was way fun to meet everyone in advance!!! The kids are even excited now too - and I was bad enough before. And what a shock when we were in Fuddruckers and my dd12 goes - that boy is in my math class! What a small world. We had to leave early to pick up girl scout cookies from the Depot so we left before everyone else - they may still be there for all I know. What a great group we're going to be with this T-giving!

Question about Bunko is that 3pm sunday or monday?

And from the meeting we were talking about the different tastings and onboard tours- do we want to check old navigators and figure out what tastings we should try to sign up for together? I know dh isn't thrilled about the martinis and I don't want to do the beer so that would work out great for us if we signed up with others.

Sounds like a fun pre-cruise meet!

The Bunco game is on Monday afternoon. :)

Thanks Jodie. I just looked - it must be gone already. We'll try and book when we board.

We had a great time meeting everyone today. It makes everything and everybody so real and that it is getting closer. You could sense everyone's excitement about the cruise. My boys had a great time and were glad to meet some other kids their ages that they will know.

Paula - count me in for martini tasting!

OK so it was a lovely day today..not too hot. Typhoon Lagoon was not too crowded so it was nice.

I am all done getting ready for our Adult Halloween Party....My husband (as Chuck and Lisa knows) never dresses up so he basically says he will be hiding if I go into public dressed like I am....everyone but my husband is in overalls with 80's hair and make-up. Must say the iphone is so much easier to carry around then a boom box :rotfl:

Have a nice night everyone.

Had a great time meeting some fellow cruisers! Didn't get a picture of the whole group because by the time I thought of getting my camera out, half the group had left. Anyway... here's a bunch of the kids, don't they look like little soldiers. So well behaved :rotfl2: :rotfl2: (of course I'm only referring to my three :thumbsup2 )

Michelle, I am actually surprised John is going with you at all if you are dressed like that. Please post some pictures of you...and John.

Chuck:cool1:

PS we are in mourning...Canes lost to Clemson in overtime...

Before I can post how much I enjoyed meeting up with Sherreis, DusterMom02 and Scullysiz, I promised jeniamt that I would order the cruise bracelets for our group.

Was a particular color decided on (I know DusterMom02 chose blue)? Who else has ordered the bracelets and what color did you choose?

TIA

Judi

Lynn, congrats on the new puppy! I'm sorry the first dog didn't work out but at least you found a great home for him.

Welcome from one Laura to another! :) My friends are sailing with their DS12. Hopefully he will give Ocean Quest a try.

Hi back at you Laura! My son really liked the club, I had just hoped he would hook up with some of the kids and from what I saw many people were traveling in families as it was the holiday time so they stayed in their own group. If your friend's son gives the club a try we will have to introduce them!! At this age they really have more fun with a buddy.

I will tell you that Paradis point is just a ski lift up to the top of a "mountain" where there is shopping and a parrot show. Eastern is not my fav for excursions. We just do the $5.00 all day water taxi hang at Great Bay and Shop on St Marten.

Well he may be even more jealous. They just changed up the menu this week. Now featuring all you can eat crab legs for no additional charge and a few more desserts :) Gotta love the Oreo Bon-bons

Thanks for the info....it seems a bit pricey for a ride to the top!! We are doing a short tour and then maybe going to rent jet ski's.
