Turkey Day Gang 2009

Michelle -- I've updated our info. Thanks. Will be posting when we get a stateroom assignment. Looking forward to knowing where we'll be living for that week.

V- definitely agree. So much to do between now and 11/19, when we leave for Florida. Still need to decide on what we're doing for St. Thomas.

So, I went to the list and somehow I've gained an extra son :scared1:! LOL...sorry Michelle, I couldn't resist but I subscribed to the "one and done" theory of having kids! (Besides after having morning/noon/night sickness for 8 1/2 months I decided never, ever, ever again!)

We can't wait!

Karen

SteffyLou I knew you were missing and I was going to talk to you this morning.

Thanks to those who have gone in edited.

karen sorry for adding the extra child..that is why I went with putting it early so all could change as needed

Once we know it is good I will take it off of google docs and make it pretty so we can print it out.

You guys are making me feel good. Getting there early, as Chuck said, makes me feel like the vacation has started.

Jodie, you did the same thing we did. We also booked an Alaskan cruise. We will be going 6/21/11. My fiancee said that we can celebrate both birthdays. Mine is in May and her's is in July. I had to contain myself last night. I kept saying to myself that I can't believe I'm going to Alaska.:cool1:
Now we just have to talk to the person on board about getting the $200 OBC.

Charlie

Thanks Patsy for adding me to the list!

Question about gift exchange... Do we need a fish extender with pockets for each person in the family?

Having this open dialogue about the cruise that I can take a break to during the day makes me feel :goodvibes

V

One item with several pockets works just fine. I have seen ones where each person has a small bag and the bags are tied together with ribbon.

Just go crazy with it I say

My dear dear FIL is a rabid Ole Miss fan. He is sacrificing his Rebel Club seats for the LSU game on sailing day. He has a great attitude about it right now, but people with addictions don't know how addicted they are until they need to withdraw, ha. Any idea if there might be a way for him to watch the game onboard?

They play the games in diversions. Big games at night they will put on the Ariel Vision. But Diversions will get them if they are on ABC, ESPN, etc.

For those of you with cooperative children, you can skip reading this post...

I just looked at that precious picture of the DisBoard gang from 2007 and saw alot of the boys were in suits. My boys (13&9) run screaming when I ask them to wear a collared shirt. I cannot imagine spending money for suits for them. What other options are there for these young men? I would prefer that we do dinner as a family since they will probably be running around all day. Would nice button shirts and khakis do?

Vieven

PS Just realized I needed 10 posts to PM so I am going to ask all my questions:)

Kids at dinner? Mason has probably had dinner with us 3-4 times total in 8 cruises...feed them early and let them enjoy the kids club so you get to enjoy dinner...especially if like Mason they will get bored after 10-15 minutes...and formal night...forget it...getting our son to put on long pants is a major chore..(we live in Florida don't forget)...

Chuck:cool1:

lol We are in Texas. My younger wants to wear shorts to school even in winter and can't stand to have sleeves on his lower arms.

On the other hand our daughter prefers to dine with us then go to the kids club. We bring some activities for her to do while there is some slow time.

Girls are clearly easier to get to dress up.....she cannot wait to put on a princess dress.

We have the exact opposite problem. My DH hates ties. DS on the other hand is the perfect gentleman who gladly dons a blue jacket (not a suit please mom unless it's a tux) and tie and proudly escorts his mom to dinner. Yes, I think I'm raising him well (and my future DIL....very, very future...had better appreciate the hard work I've put into this boy!). He also enjoys eating (period) at "fancy" dinners (with more than 1 fork...LOL) and is already asking if we can "fudge" on his age so he can go to Palo and sample the "even fancier" items. Hmmmm....wonder if I can send DH to the kids clubs and take DS with me? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Seriously, on "formal" night I see all kinds of dress on kids. Squeeze them into a collared shirt and maybe a tie and skip the jacket and they'll be just fine. If you are linked with all of us, we promise not to be critical of the fact that they don't have jackets (as many of us fight that fight with our own "children" large and small!) :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Even at an early age our Daughter has enjoyed diner time in the dining room:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 She looks forward to getting dressed up and having the wonderful selections on the menus each night:cool1: She will take steak and lobster over a PB&J any night.

Rachel has always wanted to do Palo but is not old enough. So while on a Carnival cruise we took her to Harry"s supper club and she loved it. Now every time we do Carnival the supper club is a "must do" in her book:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 She even tried to get us do do it twice on the last cruise.

Thanks for the tip Rob. We're trying to decide on 2010 vacations right now and are leaning toward a Princess Alaskan cruise in the late summer combined with something warm in the spring. We were thinking of Disney World in March since they came out with that buy 4 get 7 deal...but maybe we'll switch it to another cruise.

Oh how I wish when we first cruised 3+ years ago someone had told me how addictive they are :worship:!

By the way, Andrew was wondering if anyone here ever thought they'd do a "sampler" at Palo one afternoon for kids with sophisticated tastes or if anyone could "recommend" it to DCL :rolleyes1! I didn't have the heart to tell him to dream on!

And possibly the 10% discount too right? - that is if the prices haven't gone up enough to offset your 10% discount by the time Nov 21st gets here.
