Turkey Day Gang 2009

chuck,
We were talking about it last night. We love seeing you guys in the lot across the street waiting to get in or running into Lisa trying to get in the place.

But we are not sure we will do that this time. Now that we get Concierage Entrance we are not sure we will be hanging at the port before 10am.

It will be a sad year if we are not trying to get there before ten am with you all.

Michelle, I know you wrote to chuck, but I think one of the reasons why I always get there early is so I can park in the lot right next to the ship. I'm one of those people who aren't just on time, I'm early sometimes too early.

Charlie

One more post to 100 for me!!!

:woohoo::woohoo: I love that reasoning...maybe that needs to be our new goal....get a good spot to park the car.:yay::yay:

Hi everyone!

I am sure that we will see the *new* Christmas Carol and Old Dogs, which will be premiering onboard so we will get a midnight show which is a lot of fun! popcorn::

As far as BYOB, you cannot check booze even if it is in plastic bottles. Bags get thrown around, plastic can break, and Disney doesn't allow. No big deal, IMO, to roll around a suitcase of adult beverages until my stateroom is ready for the $$ it will save.

On the concierge check in... I can only :cloud9: dream of a day, but then again I am too cheap (my daughter coined a word for me, she calls me a "FROOG", for "frugal") to ever pony up for a suite. Just happy to be onboard (I keep telling myself.) Plus I still have to figure out how to pay for DD's college in a few short years.

I was contemplating booking Alaska today, but then I thought about it and it is expensive for even an inside cabin and the airfare to/from YVR is expensive and then, the deal breaker for me, is the Tuesday to Tuesday sailings which would mean that I would have to take a week and a half off of work to make it happen. If I am going to take that much time out of work, I'd rather make it two weeks and go to Europe (she sighs.....)

I think I'm feeling wistful today knowing that everyone is booking what will be cool trips, but at prices I just can't afford :sad1:

It's cool, I just need to find my RICH 2nd husband:rotfl2:

Hiya,
I've updated room numbers for Jennifer and Danielle.

New cruisers. The FE link is in my sig below. Use comments to add your info or send me a PM and I'll add you to the list.

Happy Crusin'! :sail:

Well this is number 9 for us Michelle, so no concierge yet...that said we will be in early group for sure.

As to liquor etc, I would advise you to use a small rolling cooler - we use one every time - and not just for alcohol, but for other things the ship does not stock like Gatorade...BUT, make sure there is no ice!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can get ice on the ship, but you will not get the cooler on the ship if it already contains ice.

Ours is a softsided one we got as Costco a few years back.

Chuck:cool1:

Oh and we will be scheduling a Wonder weekend somewhere in the next year so that when the Dream floats out, we will also get concierge boarding.

I did book Alaska today. Based on the "normal" DCL summer pricing, I felt it was pretty reasonable. Check out flights into Seattle vs YVR. It was MUCH cheaper for us! Good luck!

At first I wasn't interested - really wanted a one way trip so that we could do some things on land in Alaska. Then I looked at airfare and found that all 4 of us can fly to Seattle for less than $1,000. SO, I figure we'll do the Alaska cruise and combine it with some Vancouver/Whistler sightseeing. Then some day we'll go back to Alaska and do a land tour.

Chuck I am going with Charlie's philosophy early arrival for good parking. :cool1:

Chuck did I tell you they now stamp the boarding pass with the day.

I love arriving at the port early!! :cool1: :thumbsup2 That way I feel like the vacation is really happening!! :cool1: :thumbsup2 This past summer when we sailed on RCCL, thankfully we were early. The cameras that take each passengers photo for getting on/off the ship were broken which caused a huge back up after we boarded the ship. Our dining mates were not able to board until the life boat drill---they had to bring their carry on bags to the drill. We had already been on the ship for a few hours enjoying our vacation!! :)

Do they open the terminal at 10:00? Then boarding around noon??

So as i am working on the FE list there are lots of DH, DW, DS, and DD

So if people would like to add names I am going to try to convert the list over to an editable shareable doc. That way you can go in and chage the DX to a name if you choose

I am hoping to have it up on Wednesday.

I am currently building a tutoring webinar so FE list writing is my break.

Thank you for the all the warm welcomes!

We hail from the Dallas area and will be sailing with myself, DH, DS(13), DS(9), and grandparents.

So excited and am trying to not let this learning curve throw me. Fish extenders, huh? Took me a little while to figure that one out. :upsidedow Sounds fun!

There is so much life to do between now and the cruise, phooey.

Take care!!

Yikes! We're not on the list!

Celebrating our first anniversary onboard! Woo Hoo!

And I check everyday twice a day to see if I have a room assignment even though I know I probably still have a month to go before I get it! :yay:
