We went to the gym and then when I came home I knew something was up because the drapes were drawn in the kitchen - so when I opened the door - I found my entire kitchen decorated with 22 years of love letters / cards / poems / trinkets of our years together and pictures - AWWWWWWWW - talk about making your heart melt - so amazing!! :lovestruc

DD bought us a cake and had it decorated ( wait didnt I just say I was going to the gym -- gotta get some of these pounds off me !! ) so later tonite we will enjoy cake :) :) :) :)

:dance3: oh ya - my countdown clock clicked to 59 a little bit agooooo :dance3:

Wow! For all us men's sake, please delete this post before my wife sees it! The bar has been set so high!!!

Congrat on your anniversary. How is Charlie gonna top this on your 20th? :)

We are flying into Orlando on Friday around 1:00 and staying at AK as well that night. We have been to MVMCP two years ago and I was so happy when I found out that we could attend one before the cruise. Can I ask what time you are heading to port on Sat. from AK? I am planning on booking Happy Limo just not sure what time yet.

We are not sure at this point. We have used Happy Limo before. They work out really well. We did think about just taking the Disney Shuttle to the port......

I wonder if they would give us a big discount if we all shared a stretch limo from the Animal Kingdom ???

How much does Happy Limo cost from WDW to Port Canaveral? We'll be at Pop Century unless I can convince DH to upgrade.

Since I've only cruised in June & July, what would you recommend that I should pack compared to a summer cruise? Do you recommend any holiday clothes for pictures? I understand the characters will be in Pilgrim clothes for Thanksgiving, but will any of them be in Christmas attire at all for pictures? Should I bring more long pants for my boys (7 & 5) than shorts or is basically about the same as the summer except for the evenings up on deck?

With Fall coming, I want to keep out any summer clothes/bathing suits for packing but wasn't sure how much summer stuff I should take.

Any other advice specifically for cruising this time of year/holidays?

Thanks!

Keep an eye out they have had some great resort rates.

It is still pretty warm. I always pack one pair of long pants and i would recommend a light sweatshirt or light jacket. The water temp will be cooler then June/ July of course. The nights are cooler in my opinion.

As for holiday stuff. There will be a three deck high Xmas tree that is great for Holiday pictures. They also are building a a very large gingerbread house during the week. And Castaway Cay is decked out as well....I will not ruin the CC surprise. I would definately prepare for holiday pictures

Thank you for all the well wishes --

we hope to renew vows in Hawaii in a few years - for those at the beginning of the thread we were going to do it on St. Maarten - had it planned and all - but after my Dad died last year I just lost the urge to do it - DH and I decided to do Hawaii when we get there :)

Hope everyone has a great day - I am bone tired for some reason ( it is 5:12am) but still -- have a great day

off to a day full of meetings - back to back to back - then to the gym to work out...

hey anyone in shape (cus I am SUUUREEE not - got quite a bit of weight to get off me ) I have been working out an hour a day - 45 minutes on Treadmill (average 1.7 - 2 miles ) and then 15 minutes on the machines - any idea why I am GAINING WEIGHT???? :scared1::scared1::scared1: I know I should ask a doctor but my appt is not till January -- DH is dropping pound left and right!!

Hi Lynn!
I was just telling DD last night that I was going to pack a fleece jacket! But since I bake away in FL I have very thin blood now and under 70 degrees is COLD to me.

We've done a couple of Christmas cruises and while the days are normally nice, they aren't the same as in July, especially if it a sea day and the ship is moving. On other lines there are retractable sunroofs over the adult pools so it can get nice and warm under there, but in my mind it will be shorts plus a jacket/sweatshirt weather. However, this could go either way (very chilly or very warm!) In either case, the water we encounter anywhere will be too cold for my toes, I assure you, but I'll be happy to just lie on a beach for a bit.

In the spirit of "not so secret" staterooms and the "not so secret verandah" DD figured out that her dear old Dad will (likely) be joining us for the cruise....

See the dog walker at his house last week (I did the 7am and 5pm walk & feed; she came at 10pm for "last call poopies" which I refused to leave my house and go over for!!) left a note about how 'spirited' the dog is :rotfl2: and how she'll see him again "Thanksgiving Week." Of course, DD, being the wise alleck she is, read the note and later that evening had the same sort of talk she had with me about Santa Claus... Anytime she starts a question with, "Level with me, Mom,....." I know I'm in for it, because I start to giggle....

So DD was :cloud9: over the moon that DexH is coming. Why? BECAUSE she will have a partner in crime being a BUM! The two of them are notorious for lazing about doing nothing all day. My idea of a vacation is to GO GO GO and see/do/eat/ everything. Theirs is to while away and take naps and watch movies.... She was thrilled to have a partner in crime who understands her need to kick back.

HEHEHEHEHEHE, my master plan is working... More "ME" time :woohoo:

Firstly...happy anniversary!

Up until about 2 years ago, I was a certified fintess instructor.

How long have you been doing this work out?

My suspicion is that you are gaining muscle. Keep the faith! You ARE losing fat. It takes awhile to put it on, it will take awhile to take it off! Just keep up your hard work, it will pay off.

It's so unfair that it is easier for men, but don't concentrate on his progress, focus on your own.

If you need to measure your progress, try keeping track of your waistline or your thigh circumference. I personally HATE doing this. If you keep on track, the scale will start to move in the right direction just DO NOT GIVE UP. Make sure you are using the machines (I am assuming weight machines) correctly, and only working out your muscles every other day. They need a day of rest!!!

Get 6-8 hour of sleep.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Ok, I am admitting it. It has been ages since I have read the cruise meet notes. :sad2: I have to admit, now I have overwhelmed with what I may have missed. I tried to read the thread, but for whatever reason the DIS boards have been incredibly slow. I am certain I have no viruses, etc. I did post on the Tech Board for help.

Anywho, I saw we are up to 33 rooms on the blog. I see some people do not have room numbers listed and others may upgrade at the port. Will a final list come out with exact info? What if someone moves their room?

I saw something about t-shirts. Are we all ordering them? What happened with the idea of the wrist bands. Did we decide on them and a color? Where were they ordered from.

Lastly, I saw something about dining. Is everyone getting together?

Anything else I missed?

I am so sorry I have not kept up. Please someone take pity on me and please share.:upsidedow

Thanks!

Someone already pointed out that you are probably gaining muscle. I have a sheet to track progress (your measurements) of what you are losing. You may also need to change your workout a bit. I can help you with one that will still use the machines, but change it up and increase your cardio.

As for the rooms some people have to do their rooms as GTY to get a better price or for other reasons. Typically 3-4 weeks out they assign those room. Once luggage tags come out people will have their room numbers. In the past when someone got upgraded at the port if there were a few rooms they just called people. Last spring there were a TON of rooms and they made notes and put it in every FE with "DISBOARD name has moved from XXXX to XXXX"

First welcome SSRJen and family.

Speaking of Palo -- we'll need to book when we get onboard. I think I prefer brunch over dinner but might book both. What are the best days/times for each? Remember - this is our first cruise.

Do try and book both.

Probably the best night to book Palo if you can is night 5 and brunch on Day 3 (Monday)...As Michelle said, I'd advise against Sunday if this is your first cruise, and given the dining options, day 5 works well b/c day 2 is Golden Mickeys, Day 4 is Pirate night and Day 6 is Thanksgiving (lobster and yes turkey). Further since Thanksgiving is the 3rd sea day, you would be less likely to want to have brunch that day...One last comment: don'y try to do brunch and dinner the same day or the morning after dinner....the food at Palo's is very good and since this is a cruise ship, you can, and are even encouraged to at times, order multiple entrees so you will be evry full...and did I mention the chocolate souffle desert.....

Chuck:cool1:

I agree with Chuck; we have a reservations for brunch on Monday and dinner on Wednesday  Although this is our second cruise we have never done Brunch and I thought Monday at sea would be perfect.

As to shirts, Karen is handling those (Pixie Dust)

As to dinner link - I am handling - current list is on page 163 - if you want to be added, I will need real name(s), reservation number(s) and, if available, cabin numbers...it will be for late seating.

Happy Anniversary!! Don't give up on the workouts.

1. You are probably gaining muscle (like someone else pointed out)

2. Also, people tend to retain water when they first start working out, so make sure you drink A LOT. It may take 4 weeks or so for you to notice the scale going down.

3. The other thing to keep in mind is that is takes a calorie burn of 3,500 calories to equal 1 pound. Thats a lot of exercise! People overestimate how much they are burning and tend to think pounds should be coming off from the exercise alone. That will happen, but its a slow process. Changing your diet really works faster. Also, heart rate + time exercising determines your calorie burn (your weight also comes into play). I see a lot of folks at the gym walking leisurely with a heart rate of only 125-135. Try getting your heart rate up really high for a couple minutes, and then bring it back down for a couple. You should be sweating and breathing hard. PM me if you want more info. I could go on . . . and on . . . and on.
