Turkey Day Gang 2009

Hi all,

In 2007, I did the t-shirts. What I did was find the guy who screened the shirts in 2005, had him modify the design slightly, and ordered them all, had them shipped to me and then I sent them out to everyone (he wouldn't send them to individuals...the entire order had to go to 1 address).

I'm happy to do this again. What I'd need is: a) everyone's sizes -- he has them from 2/4 childrens (which is like a youth extra small) to adult 4X; b) your address (you can PM that to me); and a check from you after I place the order.

I can't remember how much the shirts were last time -- but they didn't strike me as being too high -- maybe $8 a shirt? I know it depends on the quantity ordered. So, here's what I need at this point:

1. Wendy can you post the design from 2007 again? If everyone is OK with it, then I'll just modify it slightly and we'll use it again.
2. Color choice -- last time we used the Disboards lime green. This time I'm thinking about a nice ocean blue color Maybe something like this? Or perhaps just a bit darker...with navy or black lettering or maybe white?? Input here would be great!
3. # if shirts you'd need and the size you'd need.

Once I have all that, I can get with the guy who printed them last time, give him the number we need and the sizes and ask him to give me a cost estimate on a per shirt basis. Then, I can post back here what the cost will be, get your order and a few short weeks later, we'll have our shirts!

If we're gonna do this again, I'd really like to order them no later than October 10. We'll get them by October 20ish and then I'll ship them out to you. Last time I used the Post Office's Flat Rate box and it worked really well. If I ship them by October 20ish, everyone will have them around Halloween and can get them washed and packed!

In 2007, we all wore them they first day of the cruise and it made it really easy to identify people at the Port and on the first day of the cruise. It was a ton of fun getting to know everyone that way (and put your face with your Disboard name).

Let me know what you think!

Karen

Does this sound like a plan for everyone?

Once again as far as the color, blue is great ...anything but the Dis green( to hard to get the teen kids to wear)

Rob

Hi everyone!

I found the t-shirt guy's e-mail and phone number.

Wendy, I know you need 3 shirts....Chuck, 3 as well. Rob, do you need 3 (or 4 including the BFF) or are the inlaws going to do shirts too?

Let's get the tshirt count (with sizes) going (sorry, sizes do affect the price). Just PM me with your size and count and I'll report back.

Karen:

Really appreciate your hard work on the shirts. It must be fun to see everyone wearing them after they were all on your dining room table.

Wendy

:woohoo:

I just got the sizes for our ASL friends - Tara / Marvin and DD --- they are very special to us and part of our extended family :) If anyone has ever seen them interp a Disney Show - you must - they are amazing to watch - I always forget to watch the show as I am totally in awe of them!!

Dsis and Dbil are deaf - so if you say hello to either of them and they do not respond back - don't take it to heart - they probably just didn't hear you :)

Dh and DD already said YAHOO to the shirts so it will be a go for us -- and yes sadly my size will cost more - :rolleyes1

I will PM my listing as soon as sister decides if her two boys are going to cruise with them or not....

hope all are doing well - my family is sitting here watching a Disney show and eatting fresh blueberries!!!

Karen: if those shirts run small, make Mason's a youth large please...if they run ordinary size, then medium is good.

Chuck:cool1:

Lisa, you are too funny. It's not your size that will cost more...it's just that the little kids sizes cost less!

Wendy, you are right! Andrew has so much fun when we sort the shirts into the appropriate boxes...and then when we see people at the port he just has to run up and ask them who they are (and of course, I don't know where he gets the extrovertedness from....)

I'm assembling the t-shirt list now...woo hoo...this cruise is getting closer!

Hey Rob,

Which date are you all crusing on the Carnival Dream? Steve, Andrew and I may just join you...

Karen, thanks for doing the shirts. We love to have something unique to remember the cruise with. Just PM you the sizes.

Finally paid off the cruise so just have to worry about booking everything else this Sunday. Wife and I are discussing what to do for FE gifts.

Newbie(FE) questions: Is the gift usually wrapped and do you note which person it comes from and goes to? Also, do we leave the gifts at random time or there are set occasions? I am thinking of sending all FE gifts to the stateroom as a package in advance. Has anyone done that and how soon do you get the package?

I am interested in linking our dining res. We are 2nd seating with the 3 of us. I recall reading earlier someone's doing that but forgot the name. What info do I need to give?

Finally, someone ask if anybody's doing the Sea Lion swim. We are definitely going to look into it. If anyone has prior experience please do share.

Many thanks and really looking forward to meetup with everyone.

Karen, here is what I need for April and myself:

Charlie=XL (I like a lot of arm room)
April=XL

When do we need to give the address for you to send them?

I am pleased with the design. As for the color, it doesn't matter to us, we will wear them whatever the color!!!

Charlie

Sherri, school starts here on Monday the 24th. I dread it because traffic is so much heavier when school is in session.

Hi Chun,

Chuck (ICEMANPAD) links the dinner reservations. He's a frequent reader so I'm sure he'll pick up on the dinner reservation link. If you don't see him post, click on his name and send him a PM.

As to the FE gifts, you can do whatever you want! In 2007, sometimes things were wrapped, though just as often not. Sometimes there was a name with them, but sometimes not. Some people did things everyday (i.e., bubbles one day, confetti the next, fun size or mini candy bars, etc.), and some people did things one time. Some people did "store bought" items and others made things (like a homemade wrapper for a hershey bar with the hershey bar too!). It's whatever you and your family want to do!

I think Wendy is doing a mini-Navigator and that will be really helpful in finding everyone's rooms (particularly since Disney won't have a Pixie Dust for Me! registered...:confused3...LOL). Generally the mini-Navigators will have the Disboard name on it (maybe the first names of everyone in the family too, though I'm not sure) and your cabin number and if you are participating in the FE.

I hope this helps some.

Thanks Charlie. I'll put you down. I don't need the address for awhile but you can PM me with it at anytime by clicking on my name or you can send me an email at msklcassidy@hotmail.com

On the mini navigator we usually list all members who have participated in the thread. We list those who are participating in FE ( Room Numbers) Names of those in group **** PLEASE NOTE **** I do not print information with out permission. We will ask everyone to post information that we CAN print...

EXAMPLE

Tinkerbell 99 Mom

Larry Wendy & Lindsey Cabin #

I usually like to give these out at port or If I can't find you I will put in FE.

We also list our meeting times. We will decided what we would like to do.

The sail away party is a great time. We also last time had a group photo after second seating on formal night.

We might meet for ice cream at Castaway Cay. All very informal and all OPTIONAL... It is just nice to spend time with fellow crusiers...

Also..... Football in Diversions TBA.

Any suggestions ??? I will start collecting information in a couple of weeks.

Wendy

I have a question --

If you book an excursion thru DCL when you are able (in my case at the 75 day mark), do you pay for it at the time, or on-board?

TIA

Hi Everyone! Just booked the radisson for the night before the cruise. I am so excited! Ordering wrist bands today, too! Everything is finally moving forward for us. Yeah! Now we are looking at the excusrsions. DFIL wants to golf in St, Thomas, Husband wants to bottom fish in Castaway Cay, DD & I want to snorkel. Anyone have any suggestions on which snorkel advneture? And we can't book until 75 days, so do you think we will still be able to get the excursions? Don't want my family to get their hopes up...:confused3? Thanks for any feedback.

As for T-shirts:

DFIL - XL
DH - L
Me -L
DD(9) -youth M

Aside from the excusrions, since this is our first time, is there anything else we should do at this point?

Also, when bringing alcohol with us, do we pack it in our luggage or carry it on? Just a couple bottles of wine and a case of beer? Thanks.

Getting ready for school like everyone else. Taylor my DD is super excited. She asked if she could start chatting with some of the other kids. Is there a place or time for that?

Sorry if all of this has been asked and thanks in advance for any input.
