Turkey Day Gang 2009

Rob, have you been to Magens Bay? Can you rent chairs? Is there a bar where I can get frosty drinks? If you have pics, please post - would love to see them!

Jodie

Oh Jodie...I particularly like the ones with fruit and little umbrellas in them!!!! I need some sand between my toes NOW (she said because she hates winter)!

I'm a bit tired of winter as well . . . and theres no money left for skiing :( , the one thing that makes winter somewhat bearable.

Ahh - sunshine, sand, and umbrella drinks. Can't wait!

My fiancee wants to do a snorkeling excursion somewhere along the way. Not sure where yet. I have never been snorkeling, but would love to try it. Probably will do one of the island tours as well. Even though I live in FL, I would love to be laying on a beach chair with the breeze blowing gently in my face!!!!:cool2:

Hi everyone!! So true, we live in Florida too, but it seems that the only time we truly relax and appreciate the sand b/w our toes is when we are on vacation!! Our favorite excursion in St. Maartin is the 12 meter regetta! Lots of fun!!!

Right now we are in Colorado for Chuck and Mason's once per winter ski trip. They are having a wonderful time!! Since I don't ski (I have tried and never made it beyond the beginner hill), I don't like cold weather (I'm from Chicago originally) and I don't enjoy having to wear 3 layers of clothing to go outside....I'm spending my time looking forward to our Thanksgiving Magic cruise!!!

Hi everyone! Snow day here in New York so I thought I would check in and see what I have been missing. Seems like alot! Hope everyone is getting excited! I know we are! Starting to look into different excursions and making minor purchases. Looks like you guys are taking advantage of the disney world deals. Wish we could, but I can't get off again till November. Boy it is going to be a long summer! Atleast I have 4 day work weeks in June and July so maybe a long beach weekend somewhere. I started making some of my Fish extender gifts today to try to beat the winter blues. That is fun. By the way does anyone know approximately how many we will need? Just curious? My DD8 was helping me and she can't wait to meet new friends. Neither can I.

Elsie

Elsie, I have been excited since the day my fiancee booked the cruise!!! As for here, it has calmed down a lot since yesterday. It started off with thunderstorms and turned into very windy day. Today, very sunny and about a cool 58.

We will be looking into excursions this weekend and picking the ones we want to do. This will be a long 8 months!!!

Hey guys, me again. Anyway, had some time to look back into the thread and I may sound pretty dumb, but what is linking up? We have early seating and am not quite sure yet as to whether to change that or not. We will have my Father-in-law with us and he is not in the greatest of health right now so I haven't requested late seating. I think he will tire early. Just getting concerned as I think we are going to have to stay with early seating for his benefit.

On another note, I am cracking up :lmao: over the Village people 80's night and the whole Lampy legs contest thing. WHOLY SMOKES I am laughing and cannot wait to meet you guys. Sounds like we are in for a good time. :woohoo:

Linking up is getting everyone on the same dining times/rotation and at the same group of tables.

Like I posted back to Lamparsky he needs to check with everyone before doing any linking of dining as we are also traveling with family members and have a dining rotation that we want that fits into the night that we want to dine at Palo:) . I know that there has to be others who want early dining ( which is hard to come by) so you might check with Disney and make sure that you are not linked to Lamparskies late dining time.

Rob

Charlie - Congrats on your engagement! Many years of happiness to you and your bride to be!

Rob - Thanks for the info. Although linking up says grand and alot of fun for us, it may not be the best for my Father-in-law and I do have to keep him in mind.

Thanks again!

I completely understand your situation:thumbsup2

DH and Dbil wanted early dining this cruise so we opted for that one. The last one was too late for DH and his acid reflux.

On another note....we had a kicker snow storm here on Monday. Dropped another foot of snow on us. On my walk to work from the parking garage I fell on a patch of ice. My right leg ended up under my body. OUCH.... This was at 6am...at 10am I could not bear the pain anymore so I called DH and he brought me to the ER. They concluded that I ripped my hamstring and it would take 6-8 weeks to heal. Off I went with crutches. Since I work for the hospital they request that you are seen by a certain doctor as well. I went to him yesterday and he ran some tests. Come to find out - I have ripped/torn/pulled the hamstring as well as the muscle around my hip bone/ pulled a muscle in my back and damaged my thigh muscle. Ok now that was not fun!!! so on some heavy duty drugs and out of work till next week. I run three departments at the hospital - this week is Bond week and month end and I have to sit here useless for a week. I just cannot imagine this. DH reminded me that if I get up and do things and damage my leg then I will not be able to enjoy the cruise since I will still be on crutches....so My Bottom will stay PUT.....cus the cruise is what I am looking forward to!!!

alwayslisad - Oh my goodness, that sounds painful! :scared: Please do rest and get better. Take the meds! I hope you are feeling better soon. You guys got hit hard this last time. We didn't get very much, just enough to close school.

mickeyhugger, we just booked a carnival cruise for next year too! Can't beat the prices! The three of us outside cabin 7 nights for less than 2k! I know it will not be Disney, but hey it sure beats work! :goodvibes Ours however is not on the new ship, it will be the Glory. Sounds fine enough!
