Turkey Day Gang 2009

My money is on Priscilla here..sorry Rob.:happytv:

Chuck:cool1:

Thank you Chuck, and everyone else who sides with me!:lmao:

Rob can send all of us a postcard from Carnival.

Rob DOES wear the pants, but I pick the better vacations. (Heck, I was the one who INSISTED in December 2001..."If we don't book this cruise NOW, we'll never take a cruise, because we won't see these prices this low again.) What's so funny, it was a spring-break cruise on the Magic, and DCL was trying to fill the ships during the post 9-11 slump.

(I need to read this thread more often. No telling what else Rob has said!:magnify:)

Hi Priscilla,

But if I said WARM MELTING CHOCOLATE CAKE....would that change your mind?

Karen

Steve still raves about the food on Carnival. In all honesty, all 3 of us think that Carnival's food was a lot better than DCL!

Andrew wants more salmon....I want the vanilla bean creme brulee...and Steve will join you with the warm chocolate melting cake (with 2 scoops of ice cream please!).

Thanks Lisa! I will say that Steve, Andrew and I really enjoyed our dinner at Lumiere's...so much so that we ate lunch there 2 days and breakfast 1 day! It was all very good.

Conversely, we were thoroughly disappointed in dinner at Parrot Cay (we thought it was the worst of all the days)! I know we should probably try Palo...but, unfortunately, Andrew is a foodie (he thinks of himself as a chef)...and in all honesty, he's a really good cook! If we went to Palo without him, I think we'd have you know what to pay for the rest of the trip!

On the flip side, I have a hard time getting dinner for 20 ready...I can't even imagine how the chef's on the cruise lines do it!

Karen

Ahem....as of today, I am off the "naughty" list and back on the "nice" list and can again receive PMs.

That is all. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Karen-

That's very kind of you to skip Palo since your son is too young. We are much more selfish!! Chuck and I have been to Palo for brunch and dinner on every cruise!! :thumbsup2 Poor Mason!! However, he gets to enjoy the activities at the Lab and Ocean Quest and we have to miss out on the fun!! :sad2:

Lisa, it has nothing to do with kindness and everything to do with survival! At 10, Andrew is already taller than me by a few inches...and we won't even talk about his shoe size (that changes every 6 weeks) :scared1: ! I can't wait until he hit puberty and really begins to grow :headache: !

Karen

Well hopefully he likes football b/c he has the physique to be a very good lineman...think college scholarships maybe?

Good morning all

"no-body puts our thread on page three"
(that is a spin off of "no-body puts Baby in the corner" from Dirty Dancing..ehhe )

So how is life treating everyone? we are a little over a year to go for our Tday Cruise - although SOMEEEEEEpeople are going NEXT Month - ahem - they will need to do a trip report and post pics so we can see all the goodies!!! - Lisa - Chuck - Mason to name three....ehehe

So Halloween is next week - spent a mini fortune on new props for our haunted garage - arranged all kinds of help this year so that we can do more scare - and it appears now we will have to not do it due to my dad being very ill. We are driving back and forth to Boston since he is in the ICU - he has so many issues I am not sure which one is the most serious and will cause him to pass first. So with that going on we have put most of our other planning and things on hold - even planning the holidays . Usually by now I am done with Holiday Shopping / wrapped and ready to go. I decided to get everyone a small gift and hope they understand.

I did start to look for things for the FE's - so that will be awesome - but let me ask - ONE gift per room - or the # of people per room - ( I may have asked that already - but my mind is mush ) and we deliver them to a list of rooms that is provided? and we do or don't put our names on them ? At first I thought of getting a pattern and make a FE - but I really liked the idea one person had of the canvas tote they have of Mickey - so I am leaning toward that..

Well my coffee is waiting then I have to run and pack up for another trip to Boston - so TTFN!!

For FE's, generally multiple deliveries and generally, but not necessarily always, kid oriented...one of the places to stock up is Oriental trading company, but better to wait until closer in to get a somewhat accurate head count.

Chuck:cool1:

Yes, he has the physique of a lineman....and a lovable, kind and compassionate heart. He's afraid to play football because he doesn't want to hurt the other kids:confused3 !

Well, I'm in Brussels right now on a business trip....I've not been here before. It's a beautiful city with wonderful public transit...though my feet have blisters from too much walking (and I don't even get blisters in Disney)!

Hope everyone is doing well. I can't wait for our cruise.

Karen

P.S. other ideas from last year for FE...mini candy bars, bubbles (for sailaway) glow necklaces, pirate bandanas, etc.! Last year we all (I think) got full-sized Hershey Bars with a wrapper on them commemorating our Turkey Day Cruise. It was really neat! Sometimes you can find stuff in the $1 spot at Target like mini decks of playing cards, etc. I know last year I found lots of Disney things there.

We're back from the World! We had so much fun and the boys were super surprised and happy. They really thought that their next vacation was the cruise.

Not as depressed coming back from WDW since we have the cruise to start planning before long.

(If you want to see the video of us surprising the boys, you can see it on page 7 of my TR)
