Turkey Day Gang 2009

My group was at first going on the 2008 Turkey bash - but due to my both my parents and DH's parents being very ill we thought 2009 was safer for booking. I originally posted in the 2008 thread - I am glad we moved to 2009 - this group is awesome!!

:lovestruc

I have been checking out the thread for 2008 Turkey Day...can you believe they "closed out" the official FE group in August and wont let people who got tix late join? this is definitely not like our group, though i suspect if the people here were in that group, it would be very different. OK, I also have a source on the inside there, but still....

FE???

I was wondering too at first...

I think it's "Fish Extenders" it's those things that you hang outside your door and whomever wants to participate goes around and leaves little gifts for you.

I think August is not fair for a Thanksgiving cruise. What about all those people that just didn't know about the Disboards until they got closer to their trip and started doing more research. That's how I found the DIS 2 yrs ago when I was getting close to our WDW trip.

I just didn't know HOW ADDICTING it was going to be!:lmao:

Hi everyone!! As you know, due to a variety of reasons, we were not planning to sail this Thanksgiving. However, things fell into place and we are joining this year's Thanksgiving cruise. We are still cruising Thanksgiving 2009as well!! :thumbsup2 :cool1:

Lucky you! We're doing the 3 nighter the Sunday before Thanksgiving. I know it will feel WAY too short!

On a different note, I understand the 2010 Thanksgiving week trip will be the Eastern again. Bookings begin on Oct 14. I can't believe I'm thinking about a cruise over 2 years away!! Am wondering about the 11 night Christmas cruise. Has anyone out there been on the ship at Christmas?

Way to go Chuck, Lisa and Mason! You're in planning turkey x 2 mode. Turkey squared? :rotfl:

From Willie:

Hey Chuck!

It is great to hear from you. We did better this storm than we did with Rita in 2005. We only lost power for about 5 days this time, instead of 22. We had some damage, but nothing compared to the folks along the coast here that lost everything. And there were a lot that tried to weather out the storm in beach towns and were killed. So far about 100 bodies have been recovered and another 200 are missing. Don't here about that on the national news, huh? I don't know why it has been downplayed so much, but Ike was a pretty bad one. At least the tidal surge was.

That is great you are keeping up your Turkey status! We have been doing RCCL on the Adventure and Mariner the last two years. My girls all seem to like the ships a little better. More for teens to do than on DCL.
I still stay in contact with Doogie, Lampy and Priscilla/Rob pretty often. I tell you, that bunch we had in 2005 was a special group of folks. Including the Eiss family!

Take care buddy, and keep in touch. One day I will get Kelli back to Turkey sailing!

Willie Miller

and i agree with him about 2005, but also as to 2007.

Just got the biggest laugh! Someone posted a link to the Pub night skit. I was in my office just dying!!!:lmao: It's in a trip report:
Geeks go for broke! 9/27/08 Double Dip, new post 10/9! post #436

If I squinted real hard, I could almost belive I was on the Magic!!!:rotfl2:

We're getting so excited. We leave for WDW on Wednesday. It'll be the boys' 2nd trip and they don't know they're going and they're going to be shocked. They truly think their next vacation is our cruise.

Oh my gosh - I just watched that with my sister - I was rolling -that was HYSTERICAL!!! totally - I want to see these kind of shows next time - my sister who is legally deaf was laughing so hard - I watched it first - then had her come sit w/ me so that I could tell her what they were singing - and then the actions spoke louder than words for sure -- the tennis player was my favorite for sure

We saw this our last cruise, and I have never laughed so hard in my life. It's usually the last night of the cruise.

Dsis loves the idea's of fish extenders - so she said she would make one for my room - one for her room and one for her son's room - so now the question is -- what do we buy and how many gifts do we buy - and how do we know where they are located - do we just walk up and down the halls???? is there a price limit???

We love participating in the fish extender give a way!! Mason especially loves the scavenger hunt aspect of searching for the fes and dropping off goodies. As we get closer to the date of sailing, someone will compile a list of cabins and ages of participants. That way everyone will know how many participants and whether they are adults or children. We usually buy goodies from Oriental Trading Co. on line. In fact, we just ordered goodies for the 2008 Thanksgiving sailing!!

Ohh ok - do we purchase gifts for each person in the room or just a one per room gift..??? sorry for the questions...

Did anyone book Thanksgiving week 2010 today? I was able to grab a secret porthole room. Be forewarned, the prices are HIGH - the cat 10 I booked today was $700 more than what I paid for my 2009 cat 9!! :scared1:
