Turkey Day Gang 2009

Hi Wendy,

I was just getting to my cruise pix. Steve and Andrew are gone for a Cub Scout thing this weekend and I'm having a quiet weekend...just me a the dog! I'll e-mail you what I have or I can print them and send them to you. Any preference?

Karen

Karen:

I appreciate anything !! Lindsey wants us to meet half way and have a scrapbook weekend. Andrew told her you were the best with Scrapbooks... I have all the stuff and am just learning.

Really great to hear from you...

Wendy

Lisa:

Hope Mason enjoyed the Hannah Montana show. We surely did ! It was a packed house for us.

Hope you guys are well.

We are looking at a four day double dip on June 22nd? I have a business trip in the area and think it might work out.

Lisa and Mason enjoyed the show...I was playing tennis and enjoyed that instead :)

We decided the double dip with Lindsey's birthday on the first day was too good to pass up. We used some our Disney Vacation Club points also... and grandma will help out a little also.

We will be saving up for the 2009 Turkey Day cruise..

We are going in about 7 weeks, and once again, I may have trial when we get back...Oh well, I will be ready long before I leave...

Last night we had about a two and a half inches of ice/sleet/freezing rain/snow...in general just YUCK! Ahhhh...to be anywhere warm now would be wonderful! Scraping it all off my windshield this morning reminds me again why it is that I will one day either live in Florida or Hawaii!

Hope everyone is well. I wish the counter would move faster!

I'm in Virginia, and I feel the same way. We've had some really gloomy days this winter. I'm ready for some sunshine. My vote is for California where there is no summer humidity!!

I am so with you. We have over 3 feet or MORE of snow in my yard - our streets are now almost down to one lanes - I had to drive up on a snow bank to get out of the way of a truck today - EEEEEEEEEEEEEEkkkk - and it just started to snow again - we are due for 10 - 12 inches and then ice and rain - DISNEY TAKE ME AWAY!!!!!!!

:headache: :headache: :headache: :headache:

kids were due to get out of school mid june - they are now going till the last day in June - and if they have to delay or call off school they will start to add days - either by taking away from school vacations or half day saturday - guess I am glad I planned our summer trip to 7/11 - a few years ago - we flew out the last day of school - Phew!

:scared: :scared:

Sorry to hear about all of the winter storms!! :scared1: I remember winter...I was born and raised in Chicagoland. When I was 16 my parents made a brilliant decision...they decided to move to South Florida!! :worship:
Now, the only time I see snow is thanks to Chuck and his love of skiing.

I wish ya'all an early spring!! :thumbsup2

Lisa

Lisa,

You've got it tons worse than we do. I can't imagine having the kids (or kid, in my case) in school 'til the end of June... :scared1: ... When do your kids start? We start the Wednesday before Labor Day and get out the Friday before Memorial Day.

Sending warm thoughts your way.....

Karen

My DD started 10th grade right after labor day - we have not had a full week of school since the week before Thanksgiving - each week we have either had ice or snow causing delays or closings - today is closed. They were supposed to be out on 06/18 ( no idea why MID week) but now they are there till the 30th ( and that was as of two storms ago. I would guess if it has to go longer than that they need State approval ( so I am told ) or if they decide to adjust vacations or use saturdays - both impact parents of course and the kids SURE do not like it.

Right now I have NO backstairs or front stairs - the driveway is just a SNOW mound and at least no school - so no worries there.

DH & I will still get to work - he will be plowing all day for the hospital that we work for and I am LOADED with meetings. So will be a busy day for sure!

Would rather stay here in my home office and work - but can't - better yet would rather be in a nice room on the Magic sipping coffee and waiting to arrive at some tropical PORT instead of trying to decide what BOOTS to wear!

I WISH we had some snow. If its gonna be cold and gloomy, I would at least like some snow to make things pretty! We have ice this morning, and the kids are going in late to school. I can't imagine my kids in school until the end of June. However, my dream would be for the kids to go to school year round. Then we could vacation at weird times when the rates are low and places are not crowded.

How long has this "gang" been together??

Jodie

After spending the past two hours UNSTICKING my DH truck and plow out of a ICE / SNOW bank - I really really need the cruise -
That truck was like CEMENTED into that snow bank and the driveway is glare ice...

so how is the weather during our cruise? I need something to warm me up

Hi Jodie (and Lisa),

We joined in 2007 (just a few short months ago....sigh) and had a FABULOUS time with the gang. There were a bunch of us "newbies" and a few who had gone before who welcomed us with open arms.

We all had lime green t-shirts on the day we boarded the boat (so we could find one another) and many of us (thanks to Chuck) sat together at dinner.

Chuck is kind of the "ringleader" with Rob and Priscilla also being among the "more experienced" DCL cruisers in the group. The reason why we all still post is because we had so much fun (both as a group and just with our own families) and we're ally dying to go again!

Having been on 2 other cruise lines, I can honestly tell you that we really enjoyed DCL. They really have their act together (boarding and disembarking is a breeze) and it's a relaxed family-friendly atmosphere (without being "princesses everywhere" as my son says).

Oh...by the way, the weather we had last Thanksgiving was wonderful! Couldn't have asked for better.

Oh well...it will be 50 degrees here tomorrow and then we plunge again on Friday and get ready for more ice. Folks just south of us (45 minutes to 2 hours) have it really bad -- they have 2 to 4 inches of ice and NO POWER!

Lisa, sorry to hear you all have so much snow. Here's hoping for an early spring!

Karen

Great I just want warm weather right now. Something to dream about. Our midwest vacation is in 146 days and then I will be screaming "ITS TOO HOOOOOOOTTTTTTT" being in AZ/UT/NV for 18 days in July - hehehehe - but honestly I want WARMTH!!!!

I just am so excited about this cruise.

I just checked our prices on the cruise and it's gone up $400 since we booked in December. I'm so glad me and DS12 convinced DH to book when we did. DH can never say no to DS12.
