Turkey Day Gang 2009

Yes, the Magic will be decorated for Christmas, as well as Castaway Cay.:santa:

Thanks for the warm welcome! And I'm THRILLED that we'll see some Christmas decorations! :woohoo: Our anniversary is the day after Thanksgiving this year, so I might just pretend those decorations are just for me. Oh, and DH. :rotfl:

Welcome Ima Princess (love your screen name) and family. We're DCL virgins just like your friends and I've found this group very welcoming. I've learned so much and feel much more prepared. We requested a Cat. 12.

The best advice I ever got from a travel agent was this "it doesn't matter what category you book...what matters is that you're on vacation!" We booked an inside for our very first cruise on Royal Carribean and loved it!

I know many people like an outside or a verandah...but we love the inside and here's why. Our DS and my DH will often wake up with light. Well, I'm a night owl...I hate mornings! So, when it gets light outside at 6 am, it's still dark in our cabin and I can convince DH and DS that it's still the middle of the night and to go back to sleep. Then we get up around 8:30 or 9 (a civilized hour IMHO) and everyone is happy!

So, regardless if your in Category 1 (a suite) or Category 12 (which a friend of mine laughingly calls "steerage") at least you're on the ship!

Karen,

That's exactly why I booked an inside, too. We had an inside on the first cruise and had wonderful mornings of sleeping in. Then, we were lucky enough to snag a Secret Porthole and decided not to pass up the opportunity. It was lovely to have a view and natural light, but morning sure does come early, no matter what time you went to bed!!! :) So now, we're back to the dark.

We are so thrilled to be on the ship I'd (almost) be willing to sleep in the hall!

Welcome IMA PRINCESS:yay: I love the inside also. It's dark and everyone sleeps so much better when it's dark:thumbsup2 Plus I like that the bed is in the back of the cabin. And we're hardly ever in the cabin, except to change clothes.

So, where do you sleep? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

(Sorry, it's been a long week and I couldn't resist!)

Since I didn't want to clean the garage like I was supposed to yesterday, I went back to the beginning of this thread and filled out an excel spread sheet to track who's sailing in '09. It looks like we already have 23 groups here. I knew there were quite a lot, but that was even more than I expected. My husband thinks I'm absolutely nuts to plan as far in advance as I do and here you guys are - so you must be as crazy as me.:lmao: Thats so nice to know.:)

Welcome IMA PRINCESS - We're 3rd time cruisers but also 1st time turkeys. Chuck started the thread waaaay before I booked and I've really enjoyed everyone's posts. Next year will be a year of 40's for us too. Dh and I will be turning 40 (akkk)and his inlaws - who are hopefully coming since we paid their deposits -will be celebrating 40 yrs too. None of it will be during the cruise, but it sounds like no one will hold that against us.

Nope, we don't hold things against anyone! Except perhaps the ACK at turning 40! Some of us have already passed that age, thank you very much, and don't want to be reminded that others still say ACK at 40! :rotfl2: My new "ACK" is 100!

I like your new ACK, especially, since I reached one my "ACKs" in July. :rotfl:

Welcome Aboard IAMPRINCESS, this is a great group!

I think several others are celebrating anniversaries or special occassions around the time of our Thanksgiving 09' Cruise. DH and I will be celebrating 20.

Chuck and I passed the "aack" birthday as well.

When we sail Thanksgiving 2009, we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary of our Disney wedding!! :cool1: :thumbsup2

Good morning everyone - we were on page 3 !! holy cow !!

Hope all had a good weekend. It is now Fall in New England ( at least where I am ) leaves are changing - our boat coming out for the season - getting ready to do our haunted house and planning our company christmas party. Lots to do for sure. My countdown clock shows 13 months 23 days till we depart from NH to Orlando for our first part of the vacation. We have the condo and so far the count is at 10 ppl for the condo - I am sure that # will change many times over till departure date - heehe - as long as my tushhie is on that boat on the 22nd -- eheheh

hope you are all doing awesome - talk soon!

It doesn't feel like fall in South Florida. We were at the University of Miami football game this afternoon and are now sunburned. Also, unfortunately we didn't win the game! :confused3

Good morning Turkey Gang~

The Lakes Region is in full swing of Fall - so BEAUTIFUL - the tree's are amazing to look at!.. only 13 months 12 days till my family departs to Orlando for our vacation - woohoo.

We all joined a gym last week and LOVE going ( I hope this feeling stays ) we met with the trainer last night and he set us up with our routines - I hope to be a tad less "large" before I meet you all. We joined for two reasons - the first ( Of course ) was that DH and I are seriously overweight - and secondly our friend that is MR HEALTH - had a heart attack - I know that thin people as well as large can have a heart attack - but wowo what a shocker - so we are now eatting right and working out - and I do feel so much better !! DH wants to work out on our cruise - he said "Gosh this time on the Magic I want to do morning workouts - lets plan that - what time does it open?" so that is a good thing!!....

I am hoping to book my flights in December - I have been looking around and I think we will fly out of Boston and just do a park/sleep/fly at a Boston hotel - since we need to park our car for two weeks.

Have not made any more wedding vow plans yet - too soon I think - so right now just planning our haunted house that is set for 10/31. Next weekend Charlie and I are going to a Halloween party - dressed as a PLUG and SOCKET - eheheheh

ok off to get ready for work - TGIF!!!

talk to you all soon!!

:lovestruc

I have been checking out the thread for 2008 Turkey Day...can you believe they "closed out" the official FE group in August and wont let people who got tix late join? this is definitely not like our group, though i suspect if the people here were in that group, it would be very different. OK, I also have a source on the inside there, but still....
