I'm ready to go now...I'v been busy reading trip reports:surfweb:, and I'm so ready to be on the ship:cloud9:

Today was cold and rainy - and Dsis is in from MD and Brother is in from MA - so earlier tonite we were talking about cruising and suddenly my brother and Dsis-in-law decided to ask "so how expensive is the cruise"

ME: IT IS ALL SOLD OUT - SORRY!

HIM: ohhhhh ok -

ME: THINKING ::: PHEW that was close::

Really...the '09 cruise is already sold out? I knew '08 was sold out...but '09 too?

Can all of you Vetrans explain to me the REBOOKING on board

how do you pick a date?
how do you change your date?
do you think we can book for 2010 and then move to 2011 - how do you do that ?
how do you know how much your cruise will be in 2011?
can you switch boats? for example move from the Magic to the new boats?
How much discount do you normally get ( $$ wise ) and how much OBC?

any and all help would be awesome

Here's my experience. Pick any date you want....then call and tell them you need to move your cruise date to your preferred date (NEVER SAY CANCEL OR REFUND). When the 2011 dates come out, call right away and book for the 2011 date you want. As to how much the cost will be...you won't know until they announce the fare...and yes, we switched from the Wonder to the Magic for the '09 Turkey Day cruise (we booked a "fictional" date then when the '09 dates were released, we called and "moved" our date and ship to the Turkey Day Gang). As to the OBC...I can't remember...but I think it was $200 and then we got another $100 from our travel agent....:confused3 :confused3 . Hmmm....I need to check on that.

I believe its $200 for a 7 nighter and $100 for a 3 or 4 nighter. If you book with a Disney Visa card, you get another $50 I think. After all that, we also moved our res to an agent and received another $100 (Dreams Unlimited). Good luck!

The discount is 10% of the pre-tax fare. There are some taxes that aren't itemized separately when you go to book . . . In addition to the taxes that are shown, there is also $159 per person (7 night) or $119 per person (3/4 night) tax that is included in the total cost. You have to back that amount out before calculating your 10% discount.

Thanks for explaining all of that! I was wondering the same thing - figuring we'd be booking ahead when we're onboard next November.

10% + 200 on the 7 night cruise is the onboard benefit and there is no risk b/c you can (heaven forbid) cancel up until 75 days prior to the cruise for a full refund of the deposit.

We have trips 6, 7 and 8 coming up and all but the first were rebooked onboard - although in a couple instances we later changed to the even (much) better Florida resident rate which come out from time to time in the 1-2 months or so prior to the cruise.

I knew there was a reason we should move to Florida!! ;)

That - and not having to shovel snow in the winter! Sounds like a no-brainer to me - unfortunately, DH doesn't agree.:sad2:

I hate humidity though. I can't imagine living in Florida during the summer; I can barely handle summers in Virginia!!

It's funny....many people complain about the humidity in Florida, but I don't even notice it. On the other hand, we have been in Nevada and Arizona in the summer and I couldn't breathe due to the lack of humidity. Plus, my skin was soooo dry that I needed to buy special lotion.

Different strokes for different folks!! :thumbsup2

NO, I would not get sick of it. However, I would have to have a serious talk with the wait staff. On both of our cruises, I think I'm the ONLY one who got tired of the wait staff pushing all the food. I finally had to say, "Look, you've just got to stop bringing all this food." Geez! It was a bit too over the top for us (not in a good way) - a little too pushy. Think our waiters were trying WAY too hard. Am I the only weirdo, or did anyone else feel this way?

J

Our waiters last time were delightful...never pushy and ALWAYS had 2 glasses of iced tea for me....ahhhhhh heaven!

I think if I did the cruise every other week I'd get tired of it....particularly if they visite4d the same ports every other week and served the same menu! I'd also grow tired of the slow internet connection! I think I'd also grow tired of my child asking for more money for the arcade!

Don't get me wrong, I love vacation....but I think I'd get sick of it. It might take awhile...say 3 to 6 months....but then I'd be ready to get off.
