Turkey Day Gang 2009

Our celebrations aren't during cruise time either. Our 20th anniversary is 3/25 and DS's Bar Mizvah is on 8/15. We're just postponing till Thanksgiving week since it's less time off of work for me and don't need to take the kids out of school for a vacation.

Any excuse to enjoy ourselves, have a good time, have a few drinks, a few laughs, spend money...is a good excuse.

ALL of that counts!!!
do you plan on doing a celebration on board with any cakes and such?

We will do my BIL bday of course and then try to get a kinda wedding cake for our renewals - our official date is 09/15 :)

I didn't put down any special occasions on our reservations. I thought about it, but from what I've read on the boards, so many people are already full from all the wonderful food, that the cakes can go to waste. I know I won't be lacking from trying all the sweets I can get my hands on.:woohoo: I would love the wedding cake, but that's not for sale.:sad1:

I am told NO go on the formal wedding cake ( of course we all knew that ) but I can have a regular cake - what ever that means!

It is easy to make anything into a special occasion, especially if you tell the waiter staff...or even better if in Palo...

Also, I am sure I will be putting together a dinner link when we get a lot closer in to the cruise.....last November we had 63 people linked I believe, and in 2005 we had 28 cabins linked and were treated as a mini convention...

Chuck:cool1:

a mini convention? NOW that sounds like fun:cool1:
This cruise we're doing late dining, which will be new for us. It sounded more "adult" and relaxed. We always felt rushed with the early dining, especially on port days. I'm not worried about the ds18 and ds15, they will feed themselves if they get hungry before then.
The last cruise they were 11 and 14 and we made them eat dinner with us every night, other than that, we hardly ever saw them. They both played basketball constantly. DH figured out he could watch them on the tv in the room:cool2:

Hello Turkeys:

Our family is just back from a week at Disney ! We stayed at SSR and really enjoyed it. Several DVC were just back from the cruise and we were so jealous. We can't wait until our June 22 Double Dip.

We were really surprised this year at the number of people who are now using the Disney Dining Plan while in the parks. We only had made one reservation. When we arrived we tried to get into Chef Mickeys for the last day of our stay and they informed us they were booked up until April 24, (and that includes no walk ups). That has damped our spirits a little bit. I guess it doesn't matter as long as you are AT DISNEY !

To those that are new WELCOME, our family was a part of the 2007 Turkeys. I really enjoy graphic design and I am glad to help anyone with door magnets or etc.

Chuck and Lisa, it was great to read your live posts !
Hope Mason had a great time.

Karen: Lindsey went crazy on pins this visit. We need to plan our weekend meet half way when you guys are free !

Very true, it is difficult to get dining reservations at WDW unless you book 180 days in advance. :scared1:

Andrew

Hi Wendy and Lindsey,

Glad to hear you all had a great trip. Andrew and I would love to see Lindsey's new pins. We've made arrangements to go in mid-late August. Andrew is taking his best pal Alex. We won't be there for free dining as school starts the last Wednesday in August.

We'd love to meet 1/2 way or wherever. Let me check with Steve about schedule...I think right now we're booked until mid-May.

Karen

Lisa,

Where are you going in the Midwest? We're in St. Louis so if I can be helpful let me know.

Karen

Lisa,

Sorry to hear about your basement. We had spring floods here earlier (in March) but fortunately, we stayed high and dry!

Your trip out west sounds wonderful. Hope you enjoy!

Karen

Enjoy your trip out west sounds great! Of course any place away is nice...except if it's to your mother-in-law house:scared1:

sorry about the flood! We need rain bad down here, send it our way. We've had a lot of rain, but not enough to make up for being so dry last year.
