Turkey Day Gang 2009

All of the scouts are welcome to trade! For Cub/Boy Scouts, you should be able to purchase extra Council Strip Patches at your council shop. That is probably the most common patch that they trade.

Girl Scouts are more into "S.W.A.P.S." than patches. Maybe any Girl Scouts could make those if you don't have any extra "fun" patches? There's no right or wrong - you can do whatever you'd like.

I know in our group, we have two Boy Scouts and three Girl Scouts. I think if I bring 10 CSP's and 10 SWAPS, that should be more than enough.

Well Lisa has broken out the "winter" pajamas...it is supposed to hit a frigid 59 tonight...:rotfl::lmao:

Chuck:cool1:

ok -- it was 20 degrees here in NH this morning - and if anyone can look at the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS game from Foxboro, MA - that is what we are looking like - A WINTER WONDERLAND!!!!

winter jammies!!!! huh.....

Hiya all

Winter jammies here in ORLANDO today! It was 50 degrees this morning!!!! Fall has come on hard & fast (but nothing like those poor folks in Foxboro.)

DD and I went to the Magic Kingdom yesterday; it was a LOVELY day. Most of the local kids had Friday off so those with FL annual passes went on Friday. Nope, not us. (Plus, we don't have APs... we had one set of tickets from volunteering at the Princess Marathon in March.) We were there for rope drop (much to DD's dismay at getting up so early) and managed to do 5 rides in the first hour alone! By noon we did most everything we wanted to. She even managed to get me on Big Thunder Mountain not once, but twice. (The first time I cried, REALLY, cuz' I'm terrified of roller coasters and didn't know how "bad" it was going to get. We turned around and walked right back on so that I could show her that do it )

The only "tick me off" was the folks who decided to try to move in front of us  for the parade after we had been sitting in our "spots" for 1/2 hour. (plus, we were pooped by 2:30 and enjoyed the break.) Just about 3:15 up comes this family who decides they are going to go IN FRONT of us. I don't think so. The mother gives me this "but he's a baby" look about her toddler and she shoves him in front. Ok. Until he starts bolting out into the parade and all heck breaks loose, so the mother ends up standing in front of me and since she was about 6 feet tall and I am 5 feet tall it wasn't a pretty sight. Disney doesn't always bring out the best in people, as I have found, as everyone jockeys to have their own magical day, even if it's at the expense of others.

On the other hand, lost one of our tickets during the day (probably while doing a fast pass) and found out that you can get a replacement "fast pass" ticket from one of the fast pass CMs. (Or, if you have a multi-day ticket and don't want to risk losing it like we did by keep pulling it out of your wallet you can ask for a "fast pass" ticket that is only good for the day.)

For anyone coming into the parks before the cruise, Space Mountain is closed for refurbishment until "Winter 2009" (no certain date yet). Other than that, the Halloween/fall decorations are lovely.

Hey, everyone, WHERE is the kids meet thread? I have looked in the regular "meets" threads and the main forum pages and don't see where the kids threads are. Please let us know so that DD can jump in. :worship:

True it may only be about 70 today...fall has finally arrived...for a day or so...by tuesday it should be 85 again...

Michelle - thought I saw a post saying you were not in 5122/24, but FE list says you are,,,,

Chuck:cool1:

Hard to feel sorry for 70 degrees - I know that is cold for you guys. I woke up this morning to a dusting of SNOW. You well know that it normally does not snow here in the middle of October. This better not be a sign of things to come! :scared1:

No we were in 5642/44 now we are in the 5100 area (we needed the location for the crew access door)

No one has stated their room is missing off the google list. Someone said that they had several rooms and at least one is not participating....that may be the issue.

I worked at the Studios Prior to Fantasmic and those are my favorite guest disputes. I need to be on the line do you know what I paid for this ticket...ummm the guy you cut in front of paid the same amount. Some people are not considerate of others.

they can also issue you a replacement ticket by going into the computer system and verifying you used it for a fast pass. They can cancel it and issue a replacement. The fast pass system has come a long way :lovestruc

And now we are all one more week closer :)

Good morning all

So the list we should work from is the COLOR coded one? right :)

Gosh I wish it was now that we were going on vacation - I am so tired --

Sherreis - CONGRATS on that beautiful grandson!!!

In my group, we have four rooms, but only three of them are participating in the FE.

Hey It was 41 here in Gainesville this morning!!! It's been like 7 months since we had a morning that cold!!! I'm still wearing my sweater and it's 1:00pm.

Wendy, I will be sure to post pix of the wedding. If we think about it, we can bring them on the cruise. I wouldn't bet on that!!! The wedding is this Saturday:scared1: Ha-ha!!! No I am not nervous. I just don't like a lot of people staring at me.

One month from Wednesday and we set sail!!!!:cool1::worship::banana::woohoo:

Hi everyone!

It's been a while since I've posted, but I've been keeping up with the reading -- just not enough time to post!

I just got my FE gifts this weekend -- hope you like them! :goodvibes

Count me in on Bunco! Also, DD10 would like to trade some Girl Scout patches. I don't think we'll have time to make SWAPS -- we'll see...

CONGRATS to Sherreis on your new grandbaby!!

Morgey24, my DD posted to the kids thread last night. If you can't find it, here's the link: turkey kids

There was a large pothole/puddle in the parking lot of DD's school today. Wouldn't you know -- it was a hidden Mickey! (big pothole with two smaller puddles forming the ears....) Could it be that I have Mickey and cruise on the brain??? :rotfl:

hiya all

so how is the weather where you all are? Today was sunny but COLLLLLDDDD - no snow here - just in Boston yesterday!

I got a call from the Kennedy Space Center today they had to change my reservation from Monday and Tuesday 11/16+11/17 due to a unscheduled LAUNCH -- so now we are scheduled for the 17th and 18th --
so my question is - are we able to go someplace and watch it Launch??? how do I find out more about it???

you can see the launch from almost anywhere...We watch from the front yard and i am 45mins away. I have watched rockets launch from NASA and you can feel the ground move.

But sadly not scheduled to be operable when we are there. :(

aww too bad that it wont be open

where would you recommend us to go (be nice ) so that we can view this? is there a place close to the KSC that we can go and watch -- maybe pack a picnic lunch and stuff like that? or is there a viewing place?
DH is just beside himself that we will be able to watch this and video tape it - we want to see it all - we will be going to the KSC on the 17th & 18th now...
kinda changing all my plans around - but heck that is what it is all about...

how far is Disney to the KSC?

We are headed down on the 15th. Is there a shuttle launch scheduled for sometime between the 15th and the 21st? We were fortunate enough to see a night launch the night before our cruise last year - despite numerous lauch date changes. I'd love to see another one but won't be going to the space centre. Can you see it from the parks? The friends traveling with us might be interested in trying to catch one.

Fill me in!!!

Heyya - yep there is a shuttle launch planned on the 16th at 228pm. They are launching the Atlantis Space Shuttle

Charlie / Renee & I along with our aunt are going to plan on going to the Alan Shephard Park on the 16th - it is a beach and a pier and all kinds of stores and stuff for the day - and then we can watch the shuttle take off from the beach -- the parking is $10.00 and it appears to have lots to do -

we are so excited now - this is exactly what we wnated to see for sure - as we are planning on being at the KSC on the 16th&17th :) :)

:sad1:Ok, so I am more than a little cranky.

I have NEVER had a bad Disney experience before.:scared1:

I booked the Discover Scuba excursion for St. Thomas. On the DCL website it says ages 10 an up. DCL calls me yesterday and leaves a message that it is actually 12 and up so they have removed my 11yo DD from the reservation.

I check the DCL website...ages 10 and up.

I call DCL today and they say we're sorry, that's a glitch, too bad for you.

No honoring their website, no compensation.:headache:

The other excursions we may have been interested in are booked up and that also got a too bad for you.

Now I must scramble and find something for St. Thomas....any suggestions?

I am relying on you guys to be my support group!!!!!!!:grouphug:
