Turkey Day Gang 2009 Thread #2

I still haven't got definite answer about FEs.......with 138 people you obviously aren't buying something for each person for 7 days of the cruise so

1) what are you buying?
2) how do you decide which cabins to hit when?

Go Canes is more like it...Gators are dinner substitute...bleh...

We actually will likely be meeting some 2005 Turkeys for dinner on Friday...Rob, remember the 5J's? They live in Orlando now (or a bit east of there anyway).

For those who live in Florida, water at CC is considered "cold".. for those who live elsewhere, November CC water probably about the same as summer water, especially for those who live up north...

Besides, I play volleyball as much as possible so I don't worry about the water temp..

As to FE, I'd suggest a "package" per room, especially at this late date...we are doing things a bit differently ourselves, but I won't give it away other than to say, well, you'll see...LOL

One way is an expedited order from Oriental trading or similar site...lots of stuff the kids like for not much money...but there are lots of good ideas..

Glad to hear Mason is already feeling better.

Judi - A meetup at the pool bar sounds lovely. We should get in in the afternoon.. Traffic permitting. We will have the blue turkey gang bracelets so we should be easy to recognize. I am thinking after dinner around 8:00 pm?

I really hope the weather is going to cooperate with us. Either way, I am going to enjoy every minute of my vacation...with all my new friends... and some of my old ones.... pino, bud, captain morgan,... etc... LOL!:lmao:

Elsie

We are arriving in the afternoon too. Around 8pm sounds good and we also have the blue turkey gang bracelets.

Having taught Kindergarten for a number of years, I am not embarassed to go around and find the Turkeys.

I just found out that another of our group, who are not on the disboards will be staying at the Radisson. They don't know it but I got them bracelets, too.:woohoo:

See you all next Friday.:banana::banana::banana:

As to the question about cabins...in the past we used oriental trading and walked the ship dropping off little things daily, generally geared towards the kids..this time we will deliver probably once to each cabin, but will likely spread it out over a few days for reasons that will become obvious..

So....I just got an email from grants.gov announcing that there is a significant modification to the HUD 202 applications! WTH.....they're due tomorrow and now...at 7 p.m. tonight they announce a modification!!!!! ARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH! I am way beyond annoyed.

The only up side to it all is that they have extended the deadline to December 14...so, now....I get to deal with the HUD grants again when I get back from vacation.

Tell them we said hi:thumbsup2

He's a retired army special forces dude that's had a rough last couple of years after returning from his last deployment. He doesn't like confined places so he's not looking forward to staying in one of the cabins. I want him to go for the boy's sake but if he's not going to have a good a time as we are, he can stay home and take care of the dogs!! I don't need any negative vibes during my vacation!!

Lynn

Lynn, I totally understand your want for him to be with you during the holiday season, but you would know if he would enjoy himself or not. I know of a person who shared with me some stories from his deployment and I cannot imagine seeing what he did. My thoughts & prayers and many THANKYOU's are sent his way! and your way as well

Oh my gosh Karen - you do not need added stress right now. I hated doing grant requests when I worked for the State of NH many moons ago. Sending lots of :wizard: pixie dust your way

Happy Friday the 13th ---

so far it is starting out like a UGH one...hope it will get better soon-- my countdown clock is at 1 day 4 hours 55 minutes till depart...

woohoo

Charlie is playing with google earth to find a place to sit for the space shuttle launch - it appears that it will be SPACE LAUNCH PARK in Titusville - I will pack a picnic lunch and we can spend the day there playing and relaxing :)

Hey we will be there too. But probably won't make it until the evening. Will see.

we don't get there until evening also. are you taking the shuttle? any idea what time it leaves.

last year we stayed at the airport and took the disney shuttle...what time does everyone recommend getting to the port and why?

We like to get to the port by 10 am for a few reasons...Mason and I are too excited to do anything else, great parking location for after the cruise, great pix in terminal without crowds, ability to check in without waiting in long lines, potential ability to upgrade...:wizard:

I have read something about a Turkey Gang mini navigator...I am not doing the FE so am not on the map/list but if this is something you are dropping off at rooms I would love to have one. We are in room 5008. Thanks!!

I can hardly stand the wait!!!

HI everyone and Happy Friday the 13th!

Lynn: hope DH comes, but if not you will have a great time with the boys! (PS - you can add someone to your ressie for only a few $ for the name change; I'd take a girlfriend or my mom if it were me! Why not, his "bed" is paid for!)

FE's: thank you, thank you for the map of the FE cabins. We are organized and good to go (I hope) and I'll send DD around deck by deck when she has some "I'm bored" time.

Packing? Ut oh. Not yet. Work is crazy. Must do must do must do :dance3:
