I have this big turkey breast in my freezer that I really need to use. I want to make something yummy with it, and preferably in the Crock Pot. (We need some comfort food with all of this snow!)

I am open to all suggestions! Fire away! :thumbsup2

Treat it like a roast?

Brown it, put it in with some stock and veggies, cook for how ever long you would a regular chicken (a whole chicken cooks about 6 hours on low so if it was the same poundage as a chicken it should be close depending on bone in or bone out), turn the broth into gravy and serve over meat and veggies.

I've heard of sprinkling onion soup mix on top and cooking it in the crockpot, but I'm not sure you can do it with a frozen breast. I think it needs to be defrosted first.

I make a whole chicken in the crock and it comes out great. How big is the turkey breast? I usually cook the chicken for about 7 hours and they are usually about 7lbs. I would do the turkey maybe low for 10 hours...if its bigger.

Here is the recipe that I use (it is for the oven and I just do it in the crock...the skin does not crisp in the crock though). I sure the rub would be great on turkey too.

On a day like this, I'd enjoy a white chili. Just cook the turkey until it's falling apart, remove the bones and use it in place of ground beef in a chili recipe. I'd season the turkey before the initial cooking or it will be pretty tasteless. You could so the same thing and make any kind of casserole using the meat in place of ground, of course. "Tuna" casserole might be nice, or turkey tetrazini (sp? lol, my spellchecker suggested Thorazine, hmm, no.).

You can just toss it in the crock pot, add a can of cranberry sauce and an envelope of onion soup mix, then let it cook on low all day.
