Are these different cities, or simply a spelling variation for the same city?
 
They're the same city. Torino is what the Italians call it. They call Rome Roma, Venice is Venezia, etc.
 
Good question! On the TIVO guide it lists the Olympic games as being live in Turin, Italy. But I haven't ever seen anythign else that references Torino as Turin. I've been wondering this same thing! DH and I though TIVo had a missprint.
