Tupperware

Hi all! Don't know if this is the right spot for this post, but I will give it a shot. I've just started selling Tupperware but am having a problem getting parties booked due to my lack of knowing many people.(my hubby is in the military and we move quite a bit.) Anyway, I've taken brochures and placed them at Wal-Mart, etc. No luck! Any advice, suggestions? Advertising is so expensive. Thanks in advance!

How about fundraising parties? Contact schools, churches, scouts and other organizations. You can run a fundraiser for them and the group gets a portion of the profit. You make a little less but its better than not selling the stuff.

I used to sell Christmas Around the World and had great luck getting parties and sales by going to flea markets. The cost of the table wasn't too bad- usually $15-20 and it more than paid for itself. I would always have some kind of giveaway- either some specific products or a certain $ amount that they could pick out of the book. On the drawing slips, I would have them put their contact info and check off if they would be interested in having a party, ordering products or were involved with any groups (scouts, schools, churches, etc) that would be interested in fund raising opportunities.

If you are not pushy and make people comfortable that you will not be bothering them for orders all the time- that goes a long way in building your business.

You can also hold a "Mystery Hostess" party. This can help you get out and meet your neighbors. Set a date for a party and make flyers for it- hand them out to people in your neighborhood, hang them at the local grocery store on their community bulletin board, tell family, friends and anyone you know. Make the party really fun- have games, small giveaways and light refreshments. Collect all orders and then have a drawing for who will be the hostess of the party. That person gets all the free gifts that are earned. You'll book some parties and you'll get your name out there. If you can plan it out so that you can do a flea market the week or two before, you can hand out flyers there and take orders for the party so you can get a good start.

Good luck to you- working for a party plan is a lot of work but it can be a lot of fun and profitable!

I agree about a fundraising party - those were some of my bigget sales in my Longaberger days. Also, do an open house at your own home and pass flyers around to other people in the neighborhood. You could bill it as a "meet your neighbor" event - I'm sure that there are plenty of lonely military wives who might jump at something like this!

If you live on post you may want to check with housing first to make sure it is allowed to have parties in your home, some consider it a "home business" and don't allow it, but you can invite people over for a party and happen to sell Tupperware at it, that's just a way around it that people used at the last post we were at.

You may feel a little awkward doing this, but one of the ways that I met spouses in my husband's unit was through parties like Tupperware. They would just send flyers to work with their spouse inviting wives and female soldiers to attend. Alot of wives say that their husbands encourage them to go (mine included) so they can meet people in their unit and will be more comfortable at unit functions.

Do you have the time to set up a kiosk at your PX or somewhere like that on your instalation? We have oodles of kiosk selling tons of things in ours. Also, contact someone in your husband's company, normally the FRG leader, and ask about setting up a party at the company or at your house or somewhere netural. The fundraising would be a good idea if you could go to schools or even advertise with other FRGs. I don't know what military division you are in but in the army here we have an AFCS (Army Family Community Services) that is like the headquarters for FRGs.

Ok, don't laugh.......I am serious. How about ebay? I have bought brand new tupperware on ebay. I think the seller must have been a distributor because she had a TON and it was all new........

Thats too funny Grumpy I just bought some tupperware from ebay this afternoon. We don't have anyone around here that sells it are if we do I can't find them I like some of the cheapy plastic bowls for when sending food home with company but love the good stuff for here. I have some tupperware bowls that have to be at least 20 years old and still in great shape.

;-) I don't know any tupperware distributors so when I need some (ok, ok, I don't really NEED it....I just want it) then I look on ebay. I can always find new tupperware on ebay. ;-) Quick, easy and I don't have to go to a party!
