Hello everyone. We finally booked our 3rd Disney cruise. Our 1st 7 day. I've been so down since returning from our last cruise in Sept that I couldn't come to the boards.

It's so nice to be back.

Anyway, we are booked on the 5/22/04 Western Magic and would like to know if anyone has taken the tour of the Tulum ruins? Is is worth it? How strenuous is the walk? My DM (62) and DF (66) will be going with us (me-35 DH-37 DD-13). DMs knees are so so.

Thanks

We're taking this excursion on the 7/19 cruise. Try to PM myself or December99 in early August and we will give you our report!

We did this one last July. It was great, but there is a lot of walking in the hot Mexican sun!. The ground was very uneven. There really weren't many steep parts, but I'd think twice if I was a senior with bad knees. There was a little shopping section but they really wouldn't be able to wait for you there and there was no place to sit and rest in the shade. Don't want to talk you out of it (we loved it!) but I would rather know about it in advance.

We did the Ruins and beach break in September. Very educational and extremely HOT. End of September it was 110' and 85% humidity. We had a 5 year old and she was exhausted. She and I did mostly the beach break because it was SO HOT and DH did the Ruins. We are glad we did it but wouldn't do it again especially with someone that wasn't in tip top shape. The boat ride over to Playa Del Carmen is air conditioned and BUMPY:bounce: The Bus ride to the Ruins is air conditioned and very LONG. It is a FULL day and we were ALL very tired. Oh, yes I forgot you have to walk through Playa Del Carmen from the tender boat to the bus and when your day is over you have to walk back. Not a bad walk if it wasn't 110'. The age of your parents doesn't concern me as much as the bad knees. It might not be a great experience for that person.
Just my 2 cents.
Whatever you decide have a great cruise.:sunny:

I have been to Tulum and it is very hot, no shade and a lot of walking. I was young with bad knees and it was a hard walk.
