Since I am off this should be the day I make my meatballs:eek: I will make a lot since they are part of Christmas Eve. I try to have a Scandinavian spread which sounds nice in theory but the meatballs are time consuming since they are so small.

Krisu, could you share your recipe? :)

Here goes..........
1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground veal
1/2 lb ground pork
1 cup plain bread crumbs
2 cups milk
2 large eggs
6 Tbsp minced onion
2 Tbsp butter
3 tsp salt
1/2 tsp white pepper
I use a melon baller to get the small size then fry. There is a white sauce you can make but usually we just make a gravy with the drippings:D

Thank you sooo much! These sound excellent! :)

If any of you make them..remember to say "God Jul" which is Merry Christmas in Swedish when you serve them:D And "skoal" if you make a toast!!

And the "Jul Tompe" (Santa) comes on Christmas Eve:D

That's cool, Krisu! Thanks for telling us that. I enjoy learning things like that :)

What, no Lutefisk or Blood sausage? What about Lefse?

:D

OMG please no Lutefisk:eek: No blood sausage either!!! We never had Lefse, I think it's more a Norwegian dish. But we do have Glogg!!!! Gee, I wonder if I should post how to make Lutefisk:eek:

I'd stick with the sweadish meatballs and we have lefse too.

Never could handle the other two myself.

Being equal parts Swedish and Norwegian I sometimes forget which comes from which

Yum! This recipe sounds wonderful. I may have to break down and actually cook something ;)

Frying those balls can be a pain. Form them and put them on a cookie sheet with a lip...They cook GREAT in the oven.

About 350. Time depends upon meatball size. For small ones I would start checking after about 15 minutes. They come out nice and browned without being greasy.

OOPS...Spray the sheet with a cooking spray first to avoid sticking.

:D That may give me more time for shopping, cleaning,& DISing!!

My brother in law is from Norway and he makes great meatballs.

:D Yummy!
