I let my DH sleep a little late in the hopes that it would help him get over his very bad cold. Unfortunately I could tell he was no better off than he was the day before. He did like the in-room coffee though and he’s pretty particular about that.

We just had some of the “welcome gift” (fruit and water) for breakfast and then walked to the parks. My DH was impressed with the Garden Walk to the parks and could understand why I liked it so much. It’s such a great way to start the day.

My original plan was to go to IOA first before it got crowded and then go to US. But I could tell that my DH couldn’t handle two parks in one day so I picked US to go to first. He doesn’t like roller coasters (they give him a headache) so there wasn’t a ton for him to do at IOA anyway.

My DH was impressed with the technology at the kiosk for picking up our passes. He’s also a programmer and enjoys seeing interfaces for that kind of process.

The first thing we did was go to MIB. And we used our room keys for Universal Express, but there was no need. We quite literally had the place to ourselves.

I tried to use two guns at once but quickly decided to just use the one in my right hand. I ended up with 240,000 points which is my highest score ever. I wanted to stay in the car and ride again but was told they couldn’t let people go through the “tunnel”. It turned out to be a good thing because my DH didn’t want to ride again anyway. He looked very green and very mad in his photo. Or maybe he was mad because he only got 124,000 points.

As we walked to Earthquake we couldn’t get over how few people there were at the park. I took a picture of him at Jaws and this time he just looked green… but not quite as mad. I actually caught him smiling during the Earthquake ride.

We took a break and just sat in the sun for a little bit. Later on, my DH said that was the highlight of his day.

He waited outside for me while I rode Mummy. I LOVE it. The special effects are fantastic and I just loved the roller coaster part.

Then we ended up at Shrek 2. The line was really long and I couldn’t find the Universal Express entrance. I ended up tapping some weirdly dressed person on the shoulder hoping they were a park employee. She said to follow the banner to the end and that’s the Universal Express entrance. Nope. So I found another employee and he let us in. I like the pre-show but my DH says it was too long. I don’t like the bouncing seats but DH didn’t mind them at all. I love the movie part but DH thought it was so-so. And we usually agree on everything!

We left US and walked to the Hard Rock for lunch. We both got burgers (meat for him and veggie for me) and fries. Then we took the boat back to the hotel.

DH crashed and I surfed and read. When I finally gave up on him feeling better and going with me to IOA, I kissed him goodbye on the forehead. He was drenched with sweat. I was hoping that this meant his fever was breaking.

So I left and walked to IOA. I used Universal Express for Hulk but probably didn’t need to. But I’m glad I did because I saw a Square D fuse box. A long time ago, my great-grandfather was a big wig at Square D. As if I needed another reason to love the Hulk.

I always stop to look at my picture after I ride any roller coaster. I always have such a big grin on my face and it reminds my of why I love the parks so much. This time I had a difficult time finding my picture. The IOA employee quickly came up to me and handed me a piece of paper and said “here’s your picture”. He just as quickly walked away which is good because he didn’t hear my say “that’s not me, that’s my mother”. Oh my gosh, I have become my mother! Well, at least she (me) looked really happy in the picture.

After I recovered from the shocking picture episode, I rode Spiderman (stand-by line). I’ve ridden it a couple of times and I am still fooled by the drop. I keep telling myself it’s an illusion but it feels so real. I wish my DH could have ridden Spiderman with me. There’s just no other ride like it.

I stopped for a couple minutes to watch the brave souls riding the Ripsaw Falls. It was very cold. Then I skipped Dueling Dragons and headed for the Sinbad show. It’s the only thing at IOA that I’ve ever wanted to do but hadn’t done before. Sinbad is a super-hunk but I thought the show was a little too long and a little too loud.

I started to worry about my DH so I skipped Poseidon which was the only thing left on my must-do list and I took the boat back to the hotel. My DH looked better and was up and watching TV.

So we hung around for a while in the room and then went to Sal’s for another pizza. Afterwards, my DH thought we should walk around the hotel. So we wandered and explored the beach pool area which was really interesting. I’d only really looked at it from afar before. And we took this picture of the villa pool at night.

Then we went back to the room and watched TV until about 11:30 PM. All I could think about was how much money my DH had paid for his park pass to ride just 3 attractions. Ouch!

Don't you hate when that happens! I'm always shocked at my pictures to see a fat lady wearing my clothes. I have a distorted view of myself. In my mind, I am skinny, stick skinny, just as I always was growing up until age and pounds crept up on me these last 10 years. I see my picture and wonder who is wearing my clothes.

I'm sorry that your hubby wasn't feeling well but it sounds like you made the best of it anyways. Hope he was starting to feel better as the trip went on.
