What’s allowed in resort pools for babies and toddlers in terms of floatation devices?

Yes only water wings, they probably won’t allow more than that. My son had a snorkel mask on one year and a snorkel, the lifeguard at Wilderness lodge wouldn’t let him wear it, so they can be strict about some things. I wish they would be stricter on other things - like all the ball throwing in the “quiet” pools (I can never seem to get away from it when we visit!)

Small flotation devices are fine like swimmies/water wings/noodles but anything larger that blocks the lifeguards view is not allowed.

So do you just hold babies who are too small for water wings? I was looking at those tubes you can sit little babies in but they look rather large so they hold the baby up 🤷🏻‍♀️

It has been many years but ours had a little ring that would help support them. It sounds like maybe what you are talking about. We used it regularly at BWV and OKW. Also used the swimsuits with built in floation devices.

I'm thinking I've never seen one of those infant floats in a pool.

When DD was 6 mo they had a life jacket small enough for her. I put that on her and then pulled her around a bit in it. But otherwise we just held her and floated about.

For a toddler I would use their life jacket (you see them on lots of kids) or bring one of the suits with flotation built in or your own jacket style.

They used to be very strict, no noodles, no balls, no toys ... then they got a bit loser. But a child drown and it seems a bit more strict again.

If you want to chance bringing one for infant I'd look for one that is clear. It can't obstruct the life guards from seeing bottom of pool. Like these ⬇️ smaller than the boat style and clear. Unfortunately is is always the CM on the ground who has the last word. I don't think there is anything in writing to support bringing one. The more crowded the pool the less likely they allow extra objects floating.

We were there a couple months ago and there was all sorts of stuff in the pool. I even have pictures of adults using pool noodles and floating. Babies and toddlers were in all sorts of the swimsuit/rings that you could put on over their little swimsuit or used by itself. The most popular for babies seemed to be the swimsuit with the built-in ring right on it.
I didn’t see any snorkels but lots of kids were wearing goggles and face masks. There didn’t seem to be any issues with that.
I cannot imagine any lifeguards throwing a fuss over parents using some type of device to help keep their child safe. If anything, it would seem they’d support it. Obviously, the big floating inner tubes and all of that are not safety items, they’re just for fun so it’s a big difference.

For an infant, you can use an infant float, the kind that can help a baby sit upright that holds them but I will say if it has a shade, the lifeguard may be ok with it or ask you remove the shade to not block their view.
