TTC thread take 2

Hi everyone! Just back from the RE's office. Good news is that I am able to go to an OB now:goodvibes. Bad news is one of the embies stopped growing:sad2: The other one is good to go so Dr. K released me, but I'm still sad. He said that he didn't forsee my baby being compromised so I'm going with that!

I'm praying for all of yas!

Congrats on the good news about the health of your little one, and very sorry to hear about the loss of the other twin. It is so nice to see your ticker at the bottom! I hope and pray everyone in this thread will have one of those very soon!

*Hugs to you E* Good luck on the little guy or girl!

My work assignment in June got delayed till Sept. So, Kenny and I have decided to do something totally fun!

We're going to Disneyland!!!! June 17-21!!!! Carousel Inn or Candy Cane Inn! We last went in 2008 and had a blast!

I figure I can take pics of the construction progress and of the restaurants we will eat at. We're going to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. :lovestruc We also plan to go to Sea World or Universal.

I am looking for a totally relaxing and fun weekend! All ready have ressies in mind:

HOB
Naples
Steakhouse 55
Napa Rose (June 17 anniversary nite)
Goofy's Kitchen, both breaky and dinner...our fave!
Ariel's Grotto
Wine Country Trattiera (WOC package)

In Sept., we will do a split stay between POFQ and AKL for 6 days starting Sept. 30. for WDW 40/MNSSHP/F&W/WWOHP

Sooo excited! And hey, you never know....my hubby is a D-Land souveneir. :rolleyes1:yay:

Oh my, that all sounds so exciting and fun! As you can tell from my ticker, we are also planning a trip to Disneyland this summer. We will just miss you by a few days! We have never been before so I will take all the advice I can get. Do you think it is worth the money to stay at the Disneyland hotels, or is better to stay at one of the cheaper options close by? I want to try Goofy's Kitchen and Blue Bayou, maybe Napa Rose if we can swing it. What's the weather like there in the summer? I think Orlando in the summer is brutal, but I have heard California's summertime weather is awesome!

D-Land is a whole lot different than D-World and in some ways; better. There is no 180 day rigamaroll on the ressies. 60 days or less you call their reservation line at 714-781-DINE and book your meals.

There's no incentive to stay on property at D-Land since everything on-property people get, off property people can get as well. There is no internal bus system; you walk it. No EMH. They do have Magic Morning.....D-Land park opens an hour early on Sun, Tues, Thurs, and Sat.

There is no dining plan. They have vouchers instead. We use Disney gift cards which work fine. We stay at Candy Cane Inn or Carousel Inn. They'e in the moderate category, good neighbor hotels and very nice. CCI has it's own shuttle Carousel is right across the street from D-land.

The weather is bee-yoo-ti-ful!!!! I suggest and you're gonna think I'm crazy, bring a sweater or light jacket. It can get chilly at night. Be sure to check out Gardenwalk. It's around the corner from Disneyland and is an outdoor shopping and dining area. Also, save time to go go Six Flags, UNiversal, Sea World, the Beach. There's tons to do.

Goofy's adn BB are great choices and also NR are also good. Try Naples as well. It's where Via Napoli came from (in WDW)

whew! I can finally think enough to write all this down....guess I'm going to make it after all. :cool1::rotfl2:

Oh E, what a mixed bag of news. Excitement and sadness all in one. I'm thrilled that you have been released to your OB and thinking of you with your loss.

Also, I wasnted to let you knkow that a distant family member of mine had a situation similar to yours with the blood clot. She had IVF and initially all 3 embies implanted. Then she experienced bleeding and passed a clot. One of the embies didn't make it, but now she has two gorgeous 8 year old girls. :thumbsup2

Last day for the Bravelle shots then I go in Monday for the ultrasound to see how big my follicles are. Hopefully I have 2 mature ones this month.

On another note: yesterday we found out we were selected for seats for Oprah's After Oscar Party show. We are going to fly in a couple of days early and head to Disneyland. So excited!!!

Good luck tomorrow!

I've been in Oprah's audience a few times here in Chicago. It's a cool experience. The After Oscar Party sound amazing. So excited to hear a report about your experience!

Sorry for your loss. :sad1:
But very happy for your promotion to the OB.

I haven't really said much lately but I'm on cd 11 of my last cycle before I start BCP for IVF #2

(assuming everything works out right...I'm still nervous about something going wrong physically or financially)

God willing, we will have a retrieval around mid April -- with a transfer to follow hopefully FIVE days past retrieval this time.

I am following all of you and rooting for everyone!

Got the call from the RE. BFN
RE wants us to do 1 more month on Clomid and if it doesn't work then move on to something else (injectables). DH is going to call back and ask if we can just move on to injectables now. I'm just fed up with Clomid... it didn't work the first 3 cycles so I'm really not hopeful at all that #4 will be any different.
I'm actually taking the news ok. I cried when I had to call DH and tell him but not since then. I think I'm just numb to all feelings at this point. By the time I have that BFP hopefully I will still been able to have emotions.

Oh, and the icing on the cake is that we got the bill from the RE for the IUI in the mail today. Nothing better than throwing money out the window :headache::headache::headache:

I'm so sorry. It's a great idea for your husband to ask about the injectables--I'm sure you don't need to talk to them again today.

I'm so sorry babe  you have a good hubby to call back for you, I wouldn't want to do so either.

Refresh my memory on how many clomid cycles you've done? Was this #5?
I would ask for the injectibles too. It's just all so frustrating when the doctors don't realize that we wanted to be pregnant like YESTERDAY!

I'm so sorry and wish the results were different for you.

DH recently got our BFN with IUI #3, so I can completely understand what you mean about being numb. It's so much to take on and a complete emotional rollercoaster.

I also agree that moving on from Clomid is probably a good idea. My RE told me that after 3 tries and no success, it's time to move on. That might have just been my particular case though.

Hi Cher! Looks like we'll be IVF buds for mid-April. I started BCP last week and will do IVF (assuming everything goes well) around the same time. My doc said the egg retrieval will be sometime between April 12 and 22 with the transfer a few days later. I don't remember how many days past retrieval....is there a reason why you are targeting 5? Since this is my first IVF, it's all kind of new for me and I apologize in advance if I have dumb questions.

Fingers, toes, legs, elbows, crossed that this time is successful for both of us!!!! :goodvibes

My RE told us that he only does 3 rounds of clomid - something like 3 strikes and your done.

I did the injectables with and without IUI. They weren't too bad.

Good luck with the IVF's next month!

Still praying for everyone!

you can call me Cheri (or Cherbear).....I know my name is real close to it but whenever I hear cher i always think of Sonny & Cher up on that stage, her flipping her hair and licking her lips...:rotfl: :rolleyes1

They typically do either 3 day transfers or 5 day transfers. **Some RE's do 2 or 4 day as well, for certain circumstances, but the general reason for the gap in days is because they don't like to open up the incubator (where the dish is, I honestly don't know what they call it) and disturb the environment, if they can help it. At least that's what I was told.

If the embryos survive until day 5, that's best. It kind of weeds out the great from the good, and from the bad. If you start off with a large amount of embryos, and by day 3 they are going strong, they will typically wait until day 5 because they expect many of them to last.

For example in my situation for IVF #1, we had only 3 embryos. Unless all of them were like WAAY strong (ahead of 'average' growth), they decided on a 3 day transfer. Since we were transferring 2, there was really no reason to wait and "weed out" any embryos. In fact, they said it was best to get them into my uterus because it's the natural environment.

If you take someone with like 10 embryos to start, well at day 3 they might still have all 10, or maybe 8. By day 5, some of those may stop growing. If the embryologist can watch all of them til day 5, then it gives you a better chance of having the strongest ones transferred. I hope that all makes sense.

And just to be clear, a 3 day transfer CAN work. And even the weakest of embryos have lived and become strong healthy babies. So I don't want you to think that if you end up with a 3 day transfer, that it's doomed or anything. For me a 3 day didn't work last time, so I'm just really hoping this next IVF pans out better.

I didn't realize there was such a difference between the 3 and 5 days. Thanks for the fantastic explanation. My RE says that based on my hormone levels and Clomid response, she would expect to retrieve around 10 eggs (fingers crossed!). When we meet with her, I am going to ask about her opinion with the 3/5 day issue. I love how these boards help me figure out what to ask!

Also, thx for clarifying the Cher/Cheri issue. I feel the same exact way with my name. My name is Christine, but when people call me Chrissy, I picture Suzanne Somers in Three's Company bouncing up and down. :yay: My mom does call me Chrissy, but that's about it. Whenever someone else does it, my skin crawls! lol

I am really sorry:sad1:
Huge hugs. I hope the other baby will be okay.

I had a 3 day transfer, and it worked. They had hoped for me to do a 5 day, but I was getting low on embryos. They thought I had 8 based on ultrasound, retrieved 7, I think 6 fertilized, but one stopped maturing and one fragmented, leaving me with 4 at day 3. One was absolutely perfect in every way. One was a little small, but otherwise perfect. Those 2 were implanted. The other two were taken to blastocyst phase at 5 days and frozen. That does mean that, should those 2 survive the thaw, they should be terrific candidates for becoming babies.

So, basically, like Cheri said, 3 days can work, and a 3 day did work for me. Most people say the 5 day transfer is ideal, but both can work. Don't panic if you have to go with a 3 day.

Hugs to you guys and hope all is well.

Well, we probably won't be ttc-ing again till April due to all this crap that's going on. :headache::mad: I do feel better today. My dx gave me two weeks of Lyrica (it's a nerve stabilizer) and also Ibuprofin. He wants to see me in 2 weeks. If I'm all right, he'll release me to go back to work. We see the RE April 20th.

But, I got to thinking....in June we have a trip to D-land coming up. If it happens....I would be due in March. Now if it's a boy, the boys in my hubby's family are usually late. My Kenny was VERY late. His mom took castor oil to get him to come out. She doesn't recommend that. If I'm due in late March let's say and he's late....my b-day is April 6th...we could have a birthday baby! Wouldn't that be an awesome birthday present?!

You are so welcome for the explanation. As you said that, I was thinking back to during my IUI's and I just could NOT figure out the whole 3 day vs 5 day thing. Now I feel like I know all there is to know. I wish I never had to learn

I really hope you get 10 eggs!! (or more)

hmm Chrissy, yeah she was a bimbo....I totally get that :rotfl:

yup, I'm SO glad it worked for you!!! But your other embies lived so that's a good indication that they were all going to make it to day 5 in the dish anyway. Mine just weren't strong enough :sad1:
I'm really really hoping that all the changes for this cycle result in better embryos for me.
