TT needs a good scrub

believe me I have much more than washing in mind but have to use all my time off the best I can...I seldom get home with my TT to wash it, the campgrounds forbid it...what else is a girl to do but get is done there??? I'm going to try and be nice and get it done on my way....but if all else fails...I WILL have it done there...sorry to those who don't like it in advance...!!!!!

Glad I could help. :thumbsup2

It wouldn't bother me if someone next to me was having their RV power washed. I'd probably see if they could do mine too ;) . It takes a LOT to bother me while I am camping.....I try not to sweat the small stuff.

I realize that some peoples times is valuable,,not like mine,, BUT, just like some people have to save $$$$ and MAKE the time to go on a vacation, why not MAKE the time to have your RV serviced BEFORE you go camping ! The key word here is MAKE (the time).

OF COURSE some people wouldn't mind having heavy power equip being used on their RV while next to me,,those same people in my opinion are also pretty much self centered and self absorbed enough they don't care about anyone around them AS LONG AS THEY ARE HAPPY !!

Heres another suggestion. MAKE the time (just like you MAKE the time for your vacation) and take your RV to ANY RV Dealer and I'm sure they will wash and detail it for you. Another idea,, most likely there are many car dealers that would wash and detail your RV. Another suggestion,,ALMOST in any area now you can find mobile auto cleaning services in bout any yellow pages.

Just think about it for a couple of minutes before you go forcing loud power equip on the other campers hard earned $$$ vacation. There are always other options if you MAKE the time.

Dang Frank, tell us how you really feel! LOL

Ok, here is my 2 cents:

I think it is kinda funny while we are at the fort when we see the $$$$ rigs getting washed. First off, when I see it, I can only think, wow for the money they are paying to get their rig washed my family could stay at the fort for 2 more days... LOL Secondly, we turn it into a sport. When we see the first one getting washed, we take bets to see which big rig will be next, because they can't be out done by someone else :)

As far as getting my TT clean, and trust me, when we got there in Feb it was dirty, I got all set up, and then mixed a little Wesley's bleach white in water, and just wiped the TT down, and then just wiped it down again with rags rinsed well in clean water. Most campgrounds just don't want you using their water to hose your camper.... so this should be fine, you are just wiping it down. Then when I am done with that, if there are still lots of bugs or black streaks, I use McGuires cleaner wax to finish it up. That stuff works great, takes off bugs and streaks and waxes at the same time, BONUS!! Hey it works for me, your results may vary. :):lmao:

Professionally cleaning or detailing your RV is inconsiderate and likely distrubing to other campers. This is just something that SHOULD be done at home..not in a campground. It's not a car wash or a parkinglot..it's a CAMPGROUND. No one paid for a site in the car wash. Plus..you've gotta go back home and you're gonna encounter the same dirt/grime and bugs that your rig met with on the way to FW. :confused3 I think a quick rinse and wipe should suffice(now that sounds funny...I don't care WHO you are!:lmao: )
How would you feel if you were staying in a resort and the person in the room next to you decided they were going to blast loud music and pound on the walls. They figure they paid for the room and it's their vacation, that's what they like to do. Or maybe they'll smoke cigars out on the balcony....the wind takes the scent to your balcony, where you aren't able to sit outside and enjoy the view that you paid for. Or maybe they'll use the microwave and melt sharp imported PROVOLONE CHEESE. If you've never that melted this trust me..it's strong..and the odor will linger FOREVER! permeating your room for 6 days! I think anyone would find such behavior annoying and a deteriment to their vacation and the room they worked hard to pay for. Not unlike the continuous drone of a power washer and professional detailing equipment. This might annoy fellow campers. Not exactly small stuff. Especially when they tend to go from one rig to the next in the same loop. Bad idea.:sad2:
Camping and being outdoors doesn't negate one's responsibility to still be considerate of their neighbor.
I'm just sayin.....

I agree that pressure washing is bad for your camper, especially the stickers. Our dealer told us NEVER power wash.

I've never tried power washing the MH. It does seems like it could be harsh on it...depending on the nozzle you use and how close you get. My husband tends to go power wash crazy when he pulls ours out. Last spring he power washed all of our wooden outdoor furniture. I was ready to trash it all because it looked so old and dirty. It was amazing what he was able to do...it all looked brand new again...especially the cedar porch swing.

It's a trial and error process though and luckily he started on the BACK of the house when he first got it, lol. :rotfl:

As for washing the MH while on a trip. After 1100 miles, the MH does tend to be dirty when we get down there. Chad uses our hose and a bucket to wash the bugs off the front of the MH. I wipe down the door and siding under the awning so that we are rubbing up against the dirt/dust. I really don't worry about anymore of it than that. On the way home we stop at the truck stop closest to our house and have it washed there.

Then each fall before we put her to bed for the season, we have it hand washed by a guy here in town. He takes about 6 hours to do it from top to bottom and he does a great job. He gets up on the roof (which would make my DH nervous) and rolls out the awning and cleans it too. We'll have to done again in the spring if it needs it.

Just because your outdoors and camping doesn't mean that you shouldn't try to be considerate of your fellow campers.

Oh I agree that there are people that are NOT considerate while camping. I just try not to let it bother me because if it all bothered me then I would never want to camp again ;) People that have really smokey fires that blow into my RV and make me close my windows, barking dogs, too bright awning lights, listen to the radio/tv too loudly, park cars that are slighly on my site, kids cutting through our sites, people not cleaning up after their dogs at the dog walks, golf carts whipping around recklessly, people who set up camp late at night or break camp really early in the morning, etc, etc, etc.

I try to be considerate of the people around me but I realize not everyone is the same way. If I don't have a laid back attitude about it then I would NEVER want to camp again because it would ALL bother me. :sad2:

One of the things I've always liked about THIS board (as opposed to rv.net) is that people seem to have a "camp and let camp" attitude rather than the snarkiness that abounds on that board. Everyone over there is so judgemental and grumpy. Over here people just pass around the kungaloosh and enjoy each other's company :goodvibes

The experience is even better in person. I am all for being snarky, but it has its place...most of the time not here...

Now, if you want to talk about goofing around...that is another story...:thumbsup2

If you all had a small rig like mine, you could just pull into one of those car wash bays and hose it down right before you get to the Fort!!:rotfl:

I'm going to second this John!! We love McGuire's wax! After washing and scrubbing on black streaks FOREVER (on several different trailers)...we found that this takes it right off almost effortlessly!!!

since I LIVE in my TT on the road approx. 300 days a year taking it in to get it done and even serviced is a royal pain and why I feel the need to have it done while I'm ON MY VACATION...that way I can have it done while I'm not in it and I don't have a day I have to take off from work to do it. I'd love to have a day at home I can do for all kinds of projects! I seldom get to visit my house for more than to use my washer and dryer then its back on the road again...sorry for your negative feelings...but I get home LATE the night before I leave at 6 AM the next Morning for my vacation...and its a 12 hour drive without a stop for a wash...everyone's time is important...!!! yours and mine...This just happens to feel like a good time for me to get something done that I need to have done! I'm not meaning to be inconsiderate...I'd actually love to be able to wash my TT by hand...very stress reducing...I might have had it at my HOME once this year...and that was after it got worked on...and I was down in Biloxi working so I couldn't do it...then drove straight from Biloxi, picked it up at 2 PM and drove to my next job...geeeeeeeze I'd never have thought people would get so worked up about something like this!!!

I hope you don't mind my saying so, but I think you're gonna find that there are some campers that would prefer that you didn't spend a whole lot of time cleaning your trailer, while they are trying to enjoy their camp site. I'm just saying that these companies that come to your site, they will start early in the morning..sometimes disrupting those who are camping, enjoying their morning coffee. There are those here who have experienced the sounds of the power washers at all times of the day, while they're trying to enjoy a camping experiece. I think that you should be able to wash your rig..especially after coming a long distance. I can understand that it might be dirty and dead bugs might not be a pretty site either. Only I personally feel that you should give it a quick rinse, and leave it at that. Perhaps having it cleaned in the parking area..that would be different, as you aren't disturbing people who came to camp. Just my opinion..and we all know what that's worth!

This must be a high end rent FW problem since I've never noticed it down where I camp with "Joe Six-Pack" and all the riff raft. :lmao:

My view is if FW allows it you have to accept it and learn to live with it or around it.

Well,, I guess we will have to start camping down with you and Joe.

Try it, you might like it and the extra little walk is good exercise for getting where ever. :thumbsup2

Plus it's a lot cheaper down here and the stuffed sofa's and all the refers and stuff under the awnings has improved in the last several years. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You're right..it might be the place to be.

It does strike me odd that FW does allow it though. So many campgrounds and resorts don't..for the very reasons we've discussed. I have a feeling FW gets a nice little piece of the pie, for allowing these professional companies in to power wash the big rigs.

I'm just sayin'............

Ditto.

I totally AGREE with Born 2 Fish! I am going to officially register my complaint to FW. We are very regular campers at FW for many years. This is becoming more prevalent now, AND we HATE it. We ARE ON VACATION! And, we work hard to save, and plan for the trip. We all have very hectic schedules, that's exactly why when we choose to camp we want to relax. It's sort of like buying a house next to an industrial factory, you wouldn't want to do that either. We enjoy the peace and serenity of camping and that's the reason other campgrounds don't allow it.

Plan your vacation and plan everything else that goes with it. We ALL do. We have to store our 5th wheel offsite and it is especially hard to clean it and winterize it. But you know what, we DO IT!

Plan accordingly and RESPECT others. It is very selfish and inconsiderate of your neighbor.

If you know where to register a complaint..let me know..I'd do the same. If FW is getting a piece of the pie, I think those complaints might go right into the trash, but I'd still feel better for letting them know how some guests feel about having their camping experience ruined by the continuous drone of power washers and waxers. I would also recommend that they have a designated area for those who wish to have their rigs professionally cleaned.
