TSMM Closed for Refurb Nov 15...Not Happy

wvnative -

I think you will be in luck!

How many days will you be at DLR? Even though the season is officially beginning on 11/14, and with the official start date usually comes the start of the holiday entertainment, this year it appears as though IASW Holiday (which is fantastic!) and the Believe in Holiday Magic fireworks are both beginning on 11/11. Haunted Mansion Holiday is already open, of course.

So...I would imagine that if IASWH and the fireworks are starting on 11/11, there is a good chance that the Winter Castle will be aglow in icicles at night on that date too, and possibly the snow will even be falling on Main Street.

What I am not sure about are things like the Reindeer Round-Up (which is a gem and worth a visit!), and if that will be open on 11/11 or on 11/14, as well as the Christmas Fantasy Parade. I also don't know if Santa will be out for photos in DL or DCA before 11/14. These things are mysteries at this point.

As far as decorations and holiday treats like peppermint goodies and that kind of thing, I think everything that is going to be decorated or available for the holidays in DL or DCA will be there on 11/11, including New Orleans Square, Toontown, A Bug's Land, etc. Only the 3 hotels and some of Downtown Disney seem to be slow in getting their decorations (not until right after Thanksgiving).

Because of all the above, it makes no sense to me why they would close TSMM during the start of the holiday season. I know refurbs are necessary, blah blah blah but it seems like a really odd time to me. :upsidedow

I sure hope everything is decorated and up n running by Nov 27! :hyper:

I agree...why not the week before?

Anyone know how reliable these short refurbishment schedules are? If they say TSMM is going to be closed for only 3 days, how likely is it that it might take them longer than 3 days. I'm trying not to let this be something I'll worry about the first three days were are there.

When refurbs are short, they are usually very close to accurate. But sometimes opening in the afternoon or evening of the day before or after.

The only reason I would guess is because It's tough to be a Bug is down the week before and they want to keep capacity up as much as they can in DCA.

Gotcha. I didn't realize there were other closures the week before. I hope it's stays a short refurb.

Its off season and a weekday. The line won't exceed 45 minutes, if even.

You think this will be true even after the ride had been closed for the previous 3 days? Might be a lot of people like me whose only day to ride it might be that day.

I've only ever been on TSMM at DCA (and not the one in Orlando) but from the looks of it (and I could be very wrong) the lines at DCA are not as long as those in Florida, especially in low season. The longest I waited for it during a low season time was 50 minutes and that was a Friday night, as other posters have said, which is because many people come after work etc. Every other time, the wait was no longer than 10-30 minutes.

I hope you get to ride it because it is such a fun ride to experience but I don't think you will experience the dreaded 120+ min wait times.

I'm not seeing the refurb listed on the Disneyland website? :upsidedow I see only POTC and BB for these dates.

That is queer alright. Some rehabs show up later, but for a big attraction like TSMM I would expect it to show right away. Maybe someone is messing with the calendar right now.

You are correct. It was on there yesterday for both Nov 15 and 16, but now it's not. Maybe they changed their mind? Do I dare get my hopes up?

The calendar still shows no sign of TSMM being closed Nov 15 - Nov 17...only POTC and the Blue Bayou. Anyone have rumor updates about TSMM refurbishment?

It's come off the refurb schedule on MousePlanet's weekly update as well. They just stated it has been cancelled.
