This time around my usual party of 2 (DD&me) will be a party of 7. The addition of my brother, niece (9), nephew (7) and my parents have left me wondering about seating on a few rides.

Will I be able to sit my average size butt in between 2 scrawny 7&9 years old butts on these ride. I don't care about actually "playing" the games. I just don't want to ride alone or sit out (which I will do if we can't fit 3 in one car).

Anyone have experience with this?

TIA!
:goodvibes

TSMM... yes. No problem, if my memory serves me correctly.

Buzz... Might be squishy comfy but you should be able to fit.

We have ridden both with three. DH, myself and our dd who will be 3 on our trip in 11 days!!! I don't think you will have a problem with either.

I encourage you to consider riding alone. We're a family of 3 (DH, DD 13 and myself)....we take turns riding alone on TSM and love it! I'm not normally a ride alone person but its tons of fun to have the whole shooting area to yourself  Just food for thought!

I think it's buzz that if you sit in the middle you can be in charge of spinning. Yay!! :)

And toy story you'll fit but it's so much more fun to sit by yourself and play!!!!

With a 7 and a 9 year old, I suggest that you ride alone. The two of them are old enough to ride together.

I rode TSM with my two kids (5 and 2), and the youngest was in the middle. I wouldn't quite call it a "tight fit," but it was close. If my kids were much bigger it wouldn't have been fun.

Agree with the other posters, you will have more fun (and so will the kids) if you ride alone on TSM. It is a short ride, will be harder for them to shoot if you are squished, and it is not a ride where you will have time to chat together anyway. You will likely be in the same car, just facing the other direction.

You might have to ride with the 7 year old. My kids 10 & 5, were not able to ride with each other. They said an "adult" had to be with the 5 year old in the car. They used to be able to ride together, but this year that you had to be 14 to supervise a younger child. Seems funny to me that a 10 year old has to buy an adult ticket and be on the adult dining plan, but he can't ride with his little brother on TSMM. They did let the 10 year old ride by himself since there were only 3 of us.

OP, I understand where you are coming from! Our family is a party of 3 and TSMM is a ride that bothers me too. Much of my enjoyment comes from watching my 7 year old DS's enjoyment. I've tried for the past 2 years to get the CMs to put us in different cars so that when we are facing the screens, we would be on the same side. They refuse to even try to do this! Yes, you do ride in the same car but you don't get the experience anything with your family because you aren't scored together or can even see what they are doing. This summer we will all 3 ride together or I just won't ride. Buzz isn't as bad because you can still interact with the rest of your party even though they are in a separate car. I would think 2 kids and 1 adult would fit fine in the car for both rides.

You must be 7 years old to ride alone so the OPs children should have no problem riding together with no adult in the car.

For TSMM, I suggest you not have three people in a car.

I rode with my 2 DDs (age 7 and 3) in one car. Age 3 DD in the middle. It was tight as we have to pull the the bar down quite close to the lap. Since you have 7 and 9 y.o., it would be even tighter, especially when you are in the middle.

I think we'll TRY to squeeze 3 in a car for Buzz at MK since we're getting Photopass+ and want a pic of all of us (assuming the pic doesn't get lost). Hopefully not a mistake. DS is 4.

My family of three sat together on Buzz last year when DD was 5. She's barely visible in the PP+ ride photo, but we love the pic anyway because DH and I each look so determined.

Thank you all for the replies/advice.

As I have been to WDW many times its not so much a matter of experiencing the ride for myself but more experiencing my niece and nephew's enjoyment of it.

I have been a solo traveller to the parks also. I don't have any issue riding by myself, I just don't want to miss out as the "odd man out".

Thanks again!

But as posted above just be aware that you squeezing into the car with them may affect their enjoyment.

We often have an uneven number when riding. Sometimes I ride alone, sometimes someone else does. I don't enjoy the ride any less or feel like the odd one out because I don't have someone in the car with me. I say rotate who rides alone so everyone gets to fully experience the rides.

With Buzz you'll still be able to see everyone in your group. With TSMM you should still be able to see some of your group, but this would be true whether you are riding alone or with the two kids.
