Is it just me, or are these pretty similar? When we went in 2012, we weren't able to do TSMM, but we did ride Buzz on our last day. I was "eh" about it, but I know so many people rave about TSMM. Are they all that different?

ITA. They are very different. The technology in TSMM is different and better.

If you want to see what TSMM is like, there's an app game (I have an iPhone so I don't know if it's on Droids) and there's a game for the gaming systems (at least for the Wii). You can play some of the games that you'll play on the ride but they are different and the experience is a lot of fun. Plus, the queue for the ride is AMAZING.

The concept is similar but the execution is totally different and I think TSM is much better. With Buzz you're shooting laser beams at the Zurg target. You can turn your ride car side to side to hit targets on either side but it is redundant in what you are doing.

TSM is very different as you're playing different arcade-type games. You move from game to game with each having different targets to hit and different objects to shoot. The graphics are in 3D and I think it's a brighter more colorful ride and the targets you are hitting are more fun.

I like TSM much better than Buzz. Plus in Buzz towards the end when you're moving through that tunnel here things and are flying by on the screen I find very annoying as it makes me dizzy. I need to focus on the end of the tunnel where there is no movement to keep my head from spinning and really can't do much shooting of anything.

I felt the same way, but from what I've read, TSMM is in 3D!

I think they are completely different. No one really sprints to Buzz when MK opens. ;) TSMM is more advanced in terms of technology - and I think more fun. :goodvibes

They both have a video game quality in them, and they are fully interactive experiences. TSMM is more inmersive and simply better imo. Personally I feel like Buzz is kind of difficult to play because you can barely see the laser (at least in my experience). The 3D also adds a lot to the experience.

Buzz is Toy Story's sad, outdated, cardboard cutout cousin. TSMM is much more advanced technology and works better IMHO. On my last trip I park hopped from DHS to MK and rode Buzz after TSMM and I was very disappointed. I will never look at that ride the same again.

I had the same problem with the laser, and I thought it was just mine.

I was also curious about the difference between the two rides, and finally did Buzz in March, and wasn't really impressed. They are similar style rides, but as PP have said the technology on TSMM is much better. The queue is better in TSMM, and the ride just overall looks newer.

The only think I like better about Buzz is that you don't have to pull that stupid cord, as you do in TSMM. My arm kills after that ride, but I guess that is also my competitive nature.

I wish they would change the Buzz ride to another Pixar movie, like the Incredibles. I think it is so silly that they have two rides that are similar, and then have them use the same movie theme. TSMM belongs in HS, Buzz no longer belongs in Tomorrowland.

They're different to me. The Buzz ride in DLR and TSMM are more similar, but as for the WDW version… nah.

The difference is about 60 more minutes in line.

No, seriously TSM is newer, in 3d, and has much better technology. I personally think its a bit overrated, but many will disagree with me on this. The advantage with Buzz is that you can often ride it multiple times and figure out which targets to hit over time.

TSMM WAY better - but neither is what I think is a BEST OF ALL ride. Now, to ride TSMM - you've got to get there EARLY or use FP+. Or want to wait.

I love the Buzz ride. It might have something to do with me maxing out my score at Buzz and barely being able to hit anything at TSMM. I like being able to see where my laser points and being able to turn the ride. I enjoy the more spacey feeling to the Buzz ride and it feels like it was taken directly out of Toy Story 2. I don't like the carnival theme as much in TSMM. I do enjoy the sensory effects in the game, but I'm not a big fan of the visual 3-d experience. I don't see it well.

Honestly? I am glad to skip HS this year because my 6 year old likes the Buzz one better. He gets more excited about shooting Zurg and doesn't care if something is in 3D or the line wait is more interesting.

And thankfully our trips to WDW are about my kids, not particularly my own preferences!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has problem with seeing if I'm actually hitting the target on Buzz!

See, on our family vacations, we all got to pick something that interested us. When we went to Disney as a family, everyone got to pick something they wanted to ride. When I go to Disney now with my husband, I do things that I know only he wants to do because he is willing to stand in line with me to meet all the characters. Bringing in people's preference's on how they tour Disney isn't really something that needs to be brought up.

It is, which is really fun.

I think TSMM gets you more immersed. The screens talk to you and they're constantly changing. It's also more lively than Buzz. I like both rides but would definitely choose TSMM over Buzz.

It is in 3D but if you have small kids, you're going to spend the entire ride holding those glasses up to their faces for them because they are way too big...even the kid sized ones. I'm surprised they don't have smaller glasses for the littler kids.

I also think they are 2 very different rides.

Buzz is a contentious moving ride where you and everyone around you-your ride companion and those in other cars-are all shooting red lasers. I find it hard to tell which red dots are my shots.

On TSMM your car moves from game to game. The game is for you and your ride companion and what you shoot is color coded to your gun. You are also not just laser tagging targets. When you shoot at plates they break, shoot darts at balloons they pop, shoot rings at objects that fly away when ringed.... And if you know some tricks you can open up special effects for bigger targets.

They're very different. I actually prefer Buzz but that's just because I was able to get "Galactic Hero." TSMM is a lot of fun but I'm not very good at it lol.
