TSM standby-less test Oct. 6-9

EMH has only been around for about 10 years. Only one resort has been added in that time that I know of (AoA) and some DVC properties attached to existing resorts.

Yeah, AOA and "some" DVC properties are a lot of people!

It's been a long time, but if I'm recalling correctly, there was something akin to extra magic hours before that. E ride nights or something like that- someone with a better memory may recall details better. But I definitely remember having park hours available to on site guests only. I believe it was a hard ticket event, but they were great- so much better than emh!

Then again, maybe it was a dream.

The old memory is being jogged- it was for 3 hours at night, not sure about the mornings, but Surprise mornings is sounding familiar.

Popularity may be restricting access, but Disney is selectively restricting that access.

Yep. Why isn't the 3rd room open for dinner with its popularity? It doesn't have to be as restricted as it is, but Disney is choosing to make it so.

At some point the sheer number of guests Disney is pi$$!ng off is gonna cost them. I am quite sure these tests in addition to other recent issues are doing a good job of it. How many bridges can you burn before there are financial repercussions? We may find out. Ultimately there is a reason for all this testing. In the end if it is for standby less attractions it will definitely affect the bottom line in my opinion. The next few years are going to be interesting. I'll be sitting back watching with my non expiring tickets. This has been going on for several years and I think it will be for a few more. Disney won't be getting any of my money til things shake out!

It's an iphone thing. :) When you double press the spacebar, you can set it so it automatically adds a period.

Actually, I have an HTC rezound...the period is right next to the spacebar on the right (my dominant hand/thumb :))...if I don't hit the spacebar just right it registers the period instead. It's annoying :p. I do go back and fix it if I notice it is really bad, but sometimes I just miss it :)

3 hours and 45 minutes left in this "test". As a past and future guest I'm sure glad I wasn't there this week. At least it'll be over soon and hopefully some of those people who followed the rules and had the rules changed on them by Disney this week will have another shot to go back this weekend.

I'm sure hoping that post about getting ride swaps or whatever they were for 7DMT are just that, and not an indication of a SB-less "test" for that.

Whether intentional by Disney or not, these "tests", IMO, could more accurately be called "Let's see how much screwing over our guests will take before taking their money elsewhere" tests.

I don't dispute that it's within Disney's rights to do anything they want with their parks. But when they do something this stupid and callous to their guests they deserve calling out as much as possible.

Now that I've typed all that, 3 hours and 36 minutes left ...

I remember it was originally just the Magic Kingdom and I think it was only on Thursdays.

It was just the Magic Kingdom, and it wasn't every day (maybe Tuesday and Thursday?) but it started at 7:30. It was perfect for us with 3 small girls all under 10 staying at the Poly. We would hop on the monorail to be there at 7:30 and be back at the resort by not much after noon for an afternoon of resting by the pool as the crowds at the park built up.

That was the origin of the touring approach we still use today.

Don't know if this means anything scary, but wanted to share something odd from today at MK. We were in the FP line for SDMT, and the CM Asked us if we would be here next week. When we told him yes, for the first part of it, he handed us a small stack of rider switch passes for SDMT and said, "you might need these." Hope that doesn't mean it's coming here next.

As soon as I saw this [this being the above quote] the "Dis Hysteria" alarm went off.

And the next few pages proved that it wasn't a false reading.

I thought the same thing...here we go. ;) Is there a treatment plan for dis hysteria? There should be.

It garnered a thread of it's own, it was too much to just lump in with another case of it.

What garnered a thread of its own? Not the post that the pp was quoting as causing the hysteria (the post about a possible SDMT test next week). At least on a quick scan on the app,.I didn't see the originally quoted post getting its own thread.

Sorry. :) Not a big deal, I knew you were typing in a phone, just from the periods. :goodvibes

I think we are going back for one more morning there over the weekend, see if the park redeems itself for the trip.
I don't want to get people worked up - my friend thought the CM was rewarding the kids because they were so polite to him. It could really be that simple? The passes say they expire oct 31. I haven't used rider switch in a few years, does anyone know if it's normal fr them to have that long a duration?
At any rate, the pixie dust avalanche continues. We just got free churros. Maybe they sense the dissatisfaction?

It's all good :). I didn't know iPhones had that issue...my hands are.pretty small, but so are these silly touch keys :p

My apologies, you are correct. I was confusing it with the bog "debacle". There's just too many disasters for my old brain to keep track of. Sorry!

Yes, it is normal for rider swap passes to have that long a duration..at least in my experience. All of ours on our 2013 trips were good til the end of the month. It probably cuts down on costs for them to just print ones that are good for the whole month.

Yay for churros! I want one now, lol
:p

I'd hardly call those threads (mine or the one on the restaurant board) hysteria either. :confused3

Tuesday and Thursday seem very familiar. I remember planning our trip around those days. It was the start of our park hopping too!

I'm just positive there were evening hours as well- a separate ticket was required but was only available to on site guests.

That would be E-Ride Nights. :thumbsup2
