It would seem the rumor of a 3rd track being built is gaining some traction- which would explain this test and in that case, it's just bad luck for those that are there.

So if the test is due to expansion, it's just the price you pay for a better park.

Not sure what the long term plan is but here is what is actually happening...


Just entered at 2pm. Walked back outside at 2:11pm. Saw several cars that only had 2 on one side and none on the other. Did see a steady stream of walking in and hopping right on the ride but still seems to be some wasted throughout if they're only sending cars at somewhere in the 50-75% capacity range. Granted this was based on my very limited, probably 2 minute or so viewing of car transit as we waited to board and left the ride.

Will hit ToT immediately when window opens at 2:55. Will be amazed if any fp still remain.

Side note, saw several frustrated folks outside the ride as we walked in. Not sure if it was due to initial understanding of what was going on or if fp is no longer available.

It's the price a limited amount of people are paying that likely had no idea beforehand. This test should probably be clearly disclosed before entry but to be honest I didn't notice anything when we walked in.

I'm sorry, I think you and I are on different wavelengths here - I haven't stated a preference either way, I certainly didn't say I "don't like these systems", nor am I complaining.

Rather, I'm looking at what WDW has done and what WDW could have done and think there were some better options out there.

Has anyone confirmed if these TSMM return times are counting as a 4th FP if issued in the park? And can they be duplicates or a second tier 1 selection?

Yes, people should just be wiling to take one for the team.

Not that they should be happy about it or even willing to do it, but it happens and there's nothing anyone can do about it. I'm fairly sure Disney doesn't wreak havoc on guests for fun. Obviously they feel this is a necessary part of expanding the ride- IF that's what they're up to.

What would you have them do if they needed these tests in order to expand the ride? Better a few people be inconvenienced than not do the job as well as it could be done.

I agree that pre-entry notification would be nice but I seriously doubt there are many who would leave the park based on the fact that a single ride was not available to them.

That's a good question and I don't think anyone's answered it.

(We've all been too busy whining about how FP is ruining the world so we can't be bothered with actually finding out how it's working.)

I would be amazed if there had been pre-entry notices. Disney just doesn't give a heads up on their plans. Never have.

Should they? I don't know. What purpose would it serve? If someone entering the park is so upset that they want to leave due to this, I'm fairly confident they could get a refund of their ticket. Other than that, what has one lost by not knowing at the gate?

I know we may be in the minority but we're typical rope droppers who try to take advantage of walk on in the morning then a fp+ shortly after. I would move our HS day to another day of we hadn't lucked up and already planned it Friday. (Yeah, we're here today but just because we arrived today and wanted to hit a park easy walking distance from bwv)

But if you were there at rope drop, you could've gotten a fp+. They were available for quite a while today. Not sure if they're sold out now or not, but they weren't earlier.

Exactly. For the first time in over 20 years I will be taking some of my money away from Disney and visiting the dark side next month. Who knows...the way things are trending at Disney we just might not be going back. This is the first time EVER I'm not excited about our trip to Disney. I can't imagine we'll be returning anytime soon.

I keep seeing posts like this as a recurring theme from long time Disney vacationers, and yet the parks are still packed to the gills. I really think that for those of us that have gone to Disney a long time that we are able to see the changes for what they are, which are a deterioration in the value of the vacation dollars we spend. Basically, we know we are getting less in return for paying more.

I don't know, I haven't read anything definitive about that. But you can make changes on those selections you already made.

I would agree with that - we're going next month for 2+ weeks and while we are spending about the same as we always have (thanks only to free dining this year), we've been preparing DS9 for the real possibility that he may only be able to ride his favorites one time each day.

I think I qualify as a long time Disney vacationer- been there on and off for over 35 years. I don't agree that there has been a significant deterioration in the value of my vacation dollars at Disney for what I now receive.

You mean other than just being responsible and up front with their guests?

If someone didn't plan to start their day at that particular ride, it's possible they would not have found out until they did the other half of the park and completely missed out.
