Yes, I was aware of that with the kiosks.

You know, it gets tiresome to repeatedly be told- oh, you just don't understand, you don't get it and all because I don't agree with you.

I get it just as well as anyone else, I just don't agree with the gloom and doom outlook so many on this board seem to have. I don't believe Disney is being gutted by the company in order to pad Iger's pockets.

In fact, I'm not so sure I'd keep going to Disney if I was as unhappy with it as some people here seem to be.

Consider that it might be terribly disappointing for some of us who may have been there the day WDW opened and are still WDW enthusiasts to this day to see some of the things they are doing today purely for profit. It may seem like a "gloom and doom" outlook but then again Disney wouldn't be the first large company to sacrifice long term results for short term gain.

I'm not mad about it, I don't hate it, I'm not going to claim that I'm going to boycott Disney. I understand it for what it is, but I will admit to being a little saddened that I can't honestly say the experience is better than it used to be, whether that experience was last year or in 1972.

I can go there and have a perfectly good time, but I don't have to like the changes.

Look, I gave them huge props for the Fantasyland Expansion. That was the best thing they have done for years.

I'm really happy they are re-theming Downtown Disney.

I love to see all the work going on within Animal Kingdom (my favorite park), but I'm also afraid they will cheap out on that. Thought ultimately it won't be open until after Iger leaves.

DHS is a park that keeps getting stripped back and I for the life of me can't understand why the paying customer (us) is fine with that.

So the company that brought you incredible ride experiences like Splash Mountain, Test Track, and Kilimanjaro Safaris should be perfectly fine with just adding in some kiddie rides when we all agree that DHS is severely lacking in both kiddie rides and major attractions? You're OK with spending billions on FP+ and not adding kiddie rides and major attractions?

I don't get why we customers don't hold Disney to a high standard considering the money we spend there?

I'm happy they're adding SOMETHING. We don't even know what they're adding FOR SURE. It's all speculation. I just don't feel the need to get so angry when I don't know facts.

Sorry, I just feel like Disney should be doing great things with attractions and FP+ is not a great attraction.

Don't take me the wrong way, I totally appreciate yours, Cake, and 1954's opinions on the subject.

Wow, that really sucks. But I guess the upside is that WDW will be able to obtain the answer to the question that has been eluding mankind for centuries.....

"How many guests can you fit on an attraction that can fit 900 guests an hour?"

:confused3

Well, that's easy. Apparently the answer is 500. :rotfl2:

Let me just ask everyone a question.

Has there ever been a topic on these boards that has been brought up and discussed so passionately and for so long (literally years now) as FP+ ??

I honestly can't think of one.

Just because they're not NOW, doesn't mean they won't EVER. Some people (not necessarily saying you) come off in a way that makes them seem to think that the way the parks are now are they way they're going to be from now until eternity. Like I mentioned in another thread yesterday when Uni was brought up...they're doing really great things NOW, but they weren't always. Uni is "younger" than Disney, and what they're doing now, I'd compare to Disney in the 90s when they were adding all kinds of awesome stuff. The parks don't have to constantly be in a state of BUILD, BUILD, BUILD. It's ebb and flow. There's always going to be something that SOMEONE doesn't like.

It would seem the rumor of a 3rd track being built is gaining some traction- which would explain this test and in that case, it's just bad luck for those that are there.

So if the test is due to expansion, it's just the price you pay for a better park.

Easy to say when you are sitting up there in OK and not spending money at WDW right now, like all the other guests

I really regret not being able to go during that time period. I bet it was cool to see all the awesome stuff being added.

how do we know that they will NOT be building new major attractions AND kiddie rides? We don't know. Universal's recent additions may have led us to expect instant gratification, i.e, how dare they close an attraction without telling us what is going to replace it and when.

FP+ is SO different from anything that has ever been done at a theme park that it's not surprising to see it be discussed passionately. Many regular visitors and even some first timers are not going to like such a drastic change.

Actually, in the real world we know that attendance and revenues continue to climb.

I thought someone recently posted that attendance is down compared to peak values? And couldn't revenue be up because the same number of guests are paying more?

It was for at least the first half of the 90s...ToT was probably a highlight. Lots of disappointment by the end of that decade though...closing of Journey into Imagination, Horizons, World of Motion, Mr. Toad, the Skyway and...at least for me, AK was a big disappointment.

Disney theme park attendance is up 4.8% in the last reporting year.

It could be. It could also be because Disney theme park attendance is up 4.8% in the last reporting year. Or a combination of the two. But it is really important to rely on data rather than personal instinct about it. And also just for instance it is important to view the big picture. In other words, a downturn in the economy will cause a decrease in attendance and revenues for everyone in the industry but to look at that as an indicator that one of the companies made a mistake wouldn't make sense. FP+ wouldn't be the cause of an economic downturn.
