Tshirt transfers

If anyone has any experience with tshirt transfers, could you give me any advice?

I have a black tshirt that I wanted to put green lettering on. Do I need the dark transfer paper for this, or could I just use the regular stuff?

AFAIK, you have to use the dark transfer paper.
