thought this was a good video and a great idea i think they should train all their agents. Because if the agents are train and can understand more they could help to make the experince better and easier for kids. I also thought sinc their always threads bashing tsa their should be one showing they are doing something good which i hope they expand to other airports.

Thanks for sharing. The program look great!

I'm especially glad they're providing training to the TSA agents. We had one in Orlando who was rude to our family and wondered out loud why my son had to "be like that." :sad2:

That tsa agent should never of said that comment or any comment about your child to you or any one. If you have his name you can repot him to tsa they will do something about it. All you need is his name and a time frame of when it happen they have cameras that record audio so they could go back and hear what he said. Just because their one idiot tsa agent doent mean their all like that. I also think after they start to roll out this program to other airports the agents my not say stupid comments.

Thank you for posting this. My son will be taking his first airplane flight soon, and it's been challenging to find things that would help show him what to expect. At least knowing some agents would be trained to help make things a bit easier for children like him makes me happy. :goodvibes

your welcome it a step in the right direction it good their training them more. This is a first step i am sure they learned things by doing this test that will help them train them more agents.

This would be so awesome if they did something like this closer to me. I hope they expand this program as it doesn't just help those who are on the spectrum, but ALL travelers. the less meltdowns our kids have, the better for all! :thumbsup2

This is the second airport, they started in Philadelphia.

The TSA training will help a lot.

I'm grateful that the TSA agent we spoke with at MCO in February was understanding and kind. DD13 snapped unbelievably rudely at the TSA agent and I was afraid she'd get detained and possibly separated from us. Thank goodness she was understanding when I was appoligizing and explaining that DD13 is autistic. I think it also helped that I immediately told off DD13 for her behaviour attitude before anything else (she's very high functioning and knows better) and I was very respectful, but it still could have been bad with a different agent. Note to self: Make sure DD13 is NOT arguing with her sister in line heading in to TSA check.

Thanks. It happened back in 2006 and we were so rushed and stunned that we didn't think to get a name or report it. We were just glad to get through security in one piece! It's nice to see that the TSA is addressing the needs of autistic kids and their families.

I know I may eat it for this but that never stopped me before! ;)

I'm sorry ... I have a REAL problem with the new T.S.A. policies that were just recently put into place, i.e. the new body scanners and pat-downs.

I think the whole thing is security theater to make everyone feel safe, a way to grow the government even larger, and in general a gross mis-use of the public's trust and confidence.

These little programs they put in place are, in my opinion, window dressing for another very corrupt government bureaucracy. They introduced a new T.S.A. APP for your phone so you can ask them what you can & can't bring on board and now they started this new program to help Autistic children. As someone who has an Autistic sister I have a suggestion for the T.S.A. ... STOP MOLESTING LITTLE KIDS! Stop molesting adults too but the kid this is completely reprehensible! These little "niceties" they give us just do not make up for what they are taking from ALL OF US! It's like a rapist telling their victim ... "Don't worry ... I'm clean!" ... Does that REALLY make you feel better?

And I KNOW there is going to be at least one person who screams the "security" thing at me but before you do please consider the following:

Where does the TSA draw the line? When it eventually happens, and it WILL happen, and someone puts a bomb up their rear end ... then what does the TSA do? Do they start cavity searching everyone? Or do they simply turn up the radiation on those machines until they can see straight through our bodies?

How about this ... what happens when the terrorists finally realize that because the TSA is doing such a great job (LOL) they can no longer get a bomb onto an aircraft and they realize that the next best place to cause massive fatalities is at a crowed, bottle-necked security check point?

What does the TSA do then ... because profiling is politically incorrect so they can't do that! Exactly HOW FAR will the TSA degrade and demean the traveling public in the name of "security."

BTW ... these machines are "perfectly safe" ... isn't that what we thought about asbestos, lead paint, fluoroscopes, and every diet drug that comes on the market?

THINK about it! THANKS for reading through my little rant :surfweb: ... I appreciate you all humoring me! :thumbsup2

I do not want this three going into a discussion of whether TSA is justified, needed, useful, etc, etc, etc

We have had threads that went that direction before and it did not go well.

I am leaving the previous poster's rant up, at least for now. Anyone with complaints/disussion of that nature, please rake them elsewhere. This is not a debate board and further debates will be deleted.
