Saw this on The Today Show this am

Henceforth, the TSA will subject ALL travelers who bring a remote-controlled toy in carryon luggage to extra security...for the obvious security reasons:sad2: . Don't even want to know what suddently prompted this.

Stated they won't automatically confiscate it but; you will be subject to the extra screening = delay getting through security...plan accordingly.

Two college kids with too much time on their hands.

Something similar happened in Germany recently - a news magazine show did a piece on constructing an explosive using items sold at the duty free :sad2: HOWEVER the intelligent powers that be did not ban all liquids after security as a result, thank goodness.

Now, who REALLY needs to bring a remote controlled toy in their carryon anyways?

I saw a teaser last night on Extra " coming up!next time you fly you may want to leave some of your children's toys at home...."
You should have seen me freak out for a minute.

"how is DD supposed to occupy herself on the plane!?" I shrieked

/ good thing it was just RC toys

//if it turned out to be Barbies and little pet shop there would have been a major problem
:lmao:

Just wait. Kippie and Chertoff will be banning cellphones next. Those guys need a real job.

i thought the same thing, until i remembered the little tyke next door who never lets his Disney Cars toy (remote control) out of sight.

suppose it could come in handy during a long flight delay to keep the concourse amused;)

AH, I had no idea. I was envisioning someone trying to 'drive' their car down the aisle of an airplane. I doubt that it would get very far before someone put a stop to it! ;)

Actually, cell phones are much more effective with IEDs. The fobs for car doors and trunks, handheld PDAs and laptops with "air" or network card also work well. But of course it is totally impractial to ban all these devices.

The real key is to catch the bomb, which may be in the cargo hold, not the trigger - but TSA again chooses the "show." Where the heck is Susan Powter when we need her?
