We signed up earlier this year and love it. It breaks down to $17 a year. We have flown 8 times since signing up and have always used it. Yes, children 12 and under can go with you in the precheck line. 13 and up need to register. We have flown out of mco, bwi, dca and iAd which all have precheck. Some smaller airports do not have it. Plus not all airlines participate, like Frontier. I got my number in 24 hours and my husband took a week. You can check the status on line. I was able to update my accounts with SW, Jetblue and United online. I was also able to add it to existing tickets myself, except SW. I had to call and get an agent to add the numbers to our existing tickets.
My kids and I went yesterday to enroll at 2PM. I checked our statuses first thing this morning. I'm all set and our DS18 is all set. However DD21 is still being processed. I have to assume it may be because she has been a world traveler (been to Europe a few times, plus studied abroad for a year in Scotland). It says it could take up to a month for a response....(insert SHOCKED LOOK.....since I can't seem to add it lol)!!
I thought (and I could be wrong) that children up to age 12 are included on the traveling parent's TSA pre-check. I have Global Entry and when I fly with my children they automatically receive TSA Pre-check. Now that isn't to say that you can't get selected for "Special treatment." When we flew to MCO from DCA my daughter was selected for special processing. Normally not a big deal but for an Aspie it is. She started crying. TSA went nuts. "Why is she crying?!?" They decided to do the hand cotton swab test on me instead.
Yup! Under 12 no problem.....(but my autistic son is 18). We have been very lucky over the years (our son has been traveling to WDW every year since he was around 3), and TSA so far have been accommodating. But when there are long lines at Security it can be a bit too intimidating for him.....so hoping this TSA Precheck will help. (THUMBS UP.....why can't I insert these anymore grrr?) LOL
