Just printed our SW boarding passes. (A17-A20! - I do love the EBCI).

My 14yo son has TSA precheck on his boarding pass. No one else in the family does. I can't find the definitive answer..... Can we all go thru the precheck line?

Thanks

Access to the TSA Pre✓ (PreCheck) line is limited to specific passengers who, for one reason or another, are authorized to use it. It's not automatically available to that passenger's family members or other travel companions.

For years, I've been able to use TSA Pre✓ because I opted in after being invited by my primary airline. While I could leave my shoes on and my laptop in my laptop bag, my wife usually had to go through the regular process. Lately, "TSA PreCheck" has been printed on her boarding pass, but there's no guarantee that will continue unless she enrolls in the TSA Pre✓ program ($85 nonrefundable application fee, whether approved or not).

Nope. Just him. Or he can just go with the rest of the family through the regular TSA line.

Probably not but he may be able to go through the regular line with you if you don't want to separate. My dd is 16 and she got precheck a few weeks ago but my older dd and I did not. I was not able to accompany her through the precheck line. In PHI we all just used the regular line but on the way home she used the precheck line by herself.

No, only people with TSA Pre on their boarding pass can go through the TSA Pre line (exception is a child under 12 traveling with an adult with TSA Pre). No, they don't have to go through the TSA Pre line; they are free to go through regular security.

As others have said, only the person with TSA Pre Check is allowed to go through the lane, or they can go through the regular line. A little story, I flew out of MCO this past Saturday and while waiting in the short Pre Check line a couple in front of me were arguing because the husband had Pre Check but the wife didn't. The TSA agent explained what I just said to them both (and added that the airlines do this all the time) and eventually the husband went through and the wife went to the regular line. So yes, they also enforce it.

Our group of 4 had different experiences with this on our trip to/from Hawaii.

On the way down only one of the group had the pre-check. The TSA officer told all 4 of us to enter the pre-check line together, but when we got up to the belts, the three of us who didn't have pre-check had to split off onto a separate belt they had set up beside the pre-check one.

On the way back, 3 people in the part received pre-check, but I'm assuming since my last name was different, I wasn't selected. I told one of the TSA officers my husband was selected and I wasn't, and they stamped my pass that I could go thru the line as well.

I really think it depends on which airport you're at, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
