TSA Precheck and security line for DS17

Just fyi contact solution is exempt from the 3-1-1 rules so it; and any other medically necessary items can be in a separate bag! Maybe that helps a little?

Well some in my family need special soaps and shampoos, contact solution etc. I dont have them handy since I always throw the big bottles in the checked bag. I got sunscreen that works but seemed like a waste of money when I have several HUGE spray bottles of the stuff. I was trying to avoid buying new stuff when I have the stuff already. Like I said my husband has all his stuff in handy containers that work bc he travels, the rest of us travel but not for quick overnights. I will make it work, it was just a simple question to avoid waste and extra work.

I am shocked every time it prints on his boarding pass. I never assume it is going to be there and he has flown to several different places on several different airlines and so far it has been there. I was shocked when several weeks ago he flew on JetBlue, an airline he has never flown before, to the Dominican Republic and it was there. These tickets were not purchased by us but by his school. I am not assuming it will be there when we print it this time. if it is great, if not oh well. If it is he and DS12 can go through but they still have to wait on the other side for DH and I so the benefit is just not having to remove stuff and take out laptop.

Thanks it does...like I said I will make it work but to me it is a pain, even my makeup has to be repacked, like my foundation, when I normally throw all the toiletry bags and my makeup bag into the suitcase last thing. I dont need to think about it.

Since you quoted me I will re-state that TSA Pre doesn't exempt you from the 3-1-1 rules. In fact it states on the TSA website that Pre allows you to keep your 3-1-1 compliant bag in your carryon. (not a direct quote but the website is easy to find).

1) It may very well state this on the website, but I have yet to see anyone open a carryon when going through the Pre-Check line.
. . . we even used Pre-Check for our Ireland vacation, and the didn't ask us to open anything.
. . . or, any of the folks in front of us
2) This was for both the MCO-to-Ireland leg as well as the return flight from Dublin-to-USA.
. . . we also have no Customs Inspection or Immigration Process at the USA airport when lying from Ireland
. . . there is also no leaving a Secured Area and having to re-enter through TSA when arriving in the USA

I never said anyone had to open or take out anything - just that TSA Pre doesn't exempt you from the 3-1-1 rules.

If you were flying from Dublin Airport you get precleared prior to getting on the plane in Dublin. So you would not have seen customs or immigration in the US airport.

1) We qualify for Pre-Check.
2) We have not packed according to the "3-1-1 Plan".
3) In fact, we have had large (READ: regular size) bottles of fluids in carry-ons without an issue.
4) Yes, our carry-ons are scanned, but we do not remove
. . . shoes
. . . belts
. . . coats
. . . computers
. . . baggies/baottles of fluids
5) WE LOVE PRE-CHECK.

You have just been lucky as pre check or not, large bottles larger then 3.4 oz are not allowed. I fly several times a week, have pre check, global entry, clear, and am recognized at the airports by TSA and still have to only carry the 3.4 oz bottles.

And again I say.....I have seen those with PreCheck have to open their carry on and remove large toiletries! I know they were PreCheck....shoes on, no 3-1-1 Baggie out. After the bag was scanned, it was opened and the offending bottle(s) removed.
It's wonderful that you made it through, but I refuse to have anyone here think that's an every day happening.

DH & I are both TSA KTN travelers and the rules for compliance regarding liquids still applies. We do not have to take our shoes off, take out our 3-1-1 baggies or our laptops but the fluid bottles still have to be compliant. They will still check out your bag after going through the scanner if they see something they do not like.
Don't take the chance, let your DH get the rental car while you get your bag if you do not want to fill smaller bottles.
As far as your makeup goes, go to your makeup counter and ask for samples of your products...most are very happy to give them to you.

We have already gone and precheck was closed in BWI and DS17 had to go through regular line. In Midway DS17 and ds12 flew through the precheck line.

You have been lucky, but the rule is still 3-1-1. My DH had a bottle of water he forgot about that they made him pull out. From TSA's website (https://www.tsa.gov/tsa-precheck/what-tsa-precheckR) "3-1-1 compliant bag" is referenced.

For #2, Dublin is a pre-clearance location: http://www.cbp.gov/border-security/ports-entry/operations/preclearance

I guess OP if you don't want to put things in a smaller bottle then YES you will have to check a bag. There is no way around taking bottles bigger than 3 oz.

If it were me, I would put them in smaller bottles. It more of a hassle to stand in line to check a bag, then wait to collect the bag at baggage claim. Then have to do it again for your return flight. Especially since it's for one night.

TSA has begun reducing the number of travelers (who aren't actually signed up for pre-check) that they choose to send through pre-check, so don't assume that they'll be automatically be sent through again. They might, but might not.
