TSA at MCO a bit lacking in security?

Last Sunday, Sept. 12th we flew out of MCO. When passing through TSA I forgot to empty change from pocket and kept my watch on by mistake. Sure enough, the buzzer went off and the sign above the TSA agent said STOP. Agent just waved me on through.

Also, we had a 12yr old girl with us who was carrying her Disney mug. It was full of soda. We forgot to empty and pack it. She was able to carry it right on through while drinking from it and not a word from any TSA agent. It certainly holds more than 3 ounces of liquid!

We have always found them to be a little more lax than other airports. On our last trip we had an open can of infant formula in Cleveland. They said it wasn't an issue, but they had to do a test on it just to confirm it wasn't a harmful substance. When we went through Orlando, they didn't even care when I mentioned it. So I guess if you have a big can of powder, just say it's formula and they will take you at your word.:scared1:

I must look really suspicious. In January, I was stopped prior to boarding (my husband had to wait for me), and my carry on was re-checked plus my hands were swabbed and the data was run through some sort of machine they had right there. I was allowed to board only after the results came up clear for whatever they were looking for.

Lol I guessy concern in the other thread about the training provided to tsa officer may be a valid one.

When traveling for work I often have several digital meters, cables, wires, and assorted odd looking gizmos and gadgets. TSA always makes me open up my carry on then ask what all the stuff is. I say its test equipment and they say OK and wave me on. I can only hope that the agents know what is and isn't dangerous equipment.

Last trip we forgot we had two full 16oz bottles of water in the bottom of our park backpack. The backpack went through security at MCO as a carry on with no problems and we only found the water once we were digging in the bag for a deck of cards on the plane!

I agree. The last time I passed through, the TSA person monitoring the x-ray screen was looking to her left and talking to someone else! Just so happens I forgot to remove my bag of liquids from my bag.
