TS w/out kid's menu- non buffet

Just wondering if anyone knows which TS restaurants, non buffet, do not offer a child's menu? The children's menus seem really similar at most places when offered. I could see how it would get boring really quickly.

I don't know of any TS restaurant that does not offer a kids' menu except V&A and Bistro de Paris, both of which are not on the DDP. I have seen some variety on the kids TS menus, though...

Worms in the Dirt - Chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, and gummy worms

Cap'n Jacks:
Linguini Provencal served with diced tomatoes, basil, olive oil and Parmesan cheese

Raglan Road:
Young Shepherd's Pie - Traditional Shepherd's Pie with our contemporary twist to this favorite dish
Bacon Beag - Oven-roasted loin of bacon with a honey glaze served with braised cabbage and creamed potato

That's just a sampling of 1 TS restaurants, and I picked the most unique items on each of those menus -- of course there were plenty of chicken strips/burgers/mac and cheese too, but if you are looking for variety and more interesting choices for your kids, it's out there. The 2 TS restaurants have even better menus.

When it says "kids selections" for a buffet, does that mean they cannot eat any other items off of the buffet?

Sure thing! That question comes up a lot, so I actually have that info saved in a cut and paste file, but it's all from menus since January. I'll review it periodically to keep it current. Epcot has the best variety for kids' 1 TS meals, and for CS too. But if you have kids who don't like the kids' menus or it won't be enough food for them, buffets are your friends! They can eat whatever the adults eat, as much as they want. So...I know, buffets wouldn't always be my first choice either, but I'd do a lot of them with kids in the 7-9 age range...AND with teenage boys!

JUST KIDDING! I know that's a sore spot for you and Lewis, but I couldn't resist. I just was wondering one day, if I was taking a kid who wanted some variety, what could I find? There are still a lot of boring, blah choices, but there is definitely some variety out there, too. I have a list of pretty decent CS choices, too, and one for Signature restaurants. I'll try to keep the lists updated as I see menu changes.

The signature restaurants are pretty...wow. I want this dessert from the Flying Fish, even if it's from the kids' menu...I'd even pay a "grown-up" premium to get it:

Mickey's Chocolate Puzzle - white chocolate puzzle, sugar "paints", chocolate cupcake, fresh berries $6.00

Now, how cool is THAT?!? You think, if it was off hours, like half an hour before closing...they might let me sneak in there and order that and a coffee?

At Ohana they can eat what everyone gets or order something different like chicken fingers....

I don't care if a restaurant allows an adult to order from the kids menu. I understand why a restaurant might either refuse or charge extra. Just think about the restaurants that let kids eat for $1 or free as an example. Bicker has done a good job explaining that most of the discounting for kids meals has nothing to do with the reduced quantity of food offered. It's a shame that Disney seems to have decided removing menu items adults like,such as burgers,from the kids menu is the best solution. Really my only "sore spot" is the adults that ordered off the kids menu, to save money, are at least partially responsible for current menus.

Dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern (MK) is served family style. Kids eat the same food as as the adults.

There is a kids menu listed for the Garden Grill (EPCOT) but the adult meal is served family style. I'm not sure if parents are breaking any rules if they let kids eat the adult menu options. I assume the rule is the same as a buffet.

Whoo hoo! I just got a 9:45 pm ADR at Flying Fish for dessert and coffee! On our "all-Epcot" day, we had planned on heading to DTD after Illuminations -- but we have several nights we are going there after the parks close. So this day, after Epcot closes, we'll just head over to the Boardwalk instead. I got a wonderful CM in Disney Dining, very helpful and friendly, and he also recommended we stop in at Jellyroll's for a bit

Now I just gotta see if they'll let me order that kid's dessert...or maybe I can bribe a little kid to sit at our table and order it for me...

LTT also have kid food available for dinner. DD always gets the grilled cheese and fries.

We are doing a bunch of buffets, but also some nice sit downs. DD4 is pretty good about eating adult, healthy food, so we will choose it wherever available. We are going to Le Cellier on our first night, and doing Coral Reef, Teppanyaki, and Kona as well. She also loves chicken nuggets and fries, but she will get plenty of that from the buffets and CS.

Was it a smaller portion on the kids menuor same as adult menu but smaller price? I am guilty of ordering kids meals all the time from fast food cause they are smaller portions, not to save money. I am not trying to start a debate as I am just surprised that is the reason for lack of variety for kids. Plus anything at Disney isnt really that cheap, even the kids meals.

The issue I'm facing is my kids are vegetarian. Now the little one is under 3 so she just shares with anyone anyway, but the older one got very tired of mac and cheese and grapes being the only options a lot of the time. She loooved buffets. For our upcoming trip we will not being doing the dining plan for a few reasons but this way she can order whatever the heck she wants at any restaurant regardless of if it's on the adult or childrens menu.

I order Happy Meals when we go to McDonald's. DS is crazy for the toys so this way, I eat, he gets another toy, and all is well with the world. The employees have never said a thing. I don't ever remember seeing an age limit on their menu. Wonder if there is one?



Thanks for the list and suggestions. Chicken nuggets seem to be the main staple for a lot of the kid's menus.

It really is a shame. Part of the whole experience is taking kids to different ethnic restaurants but what's the point if their only choices are mac & cheese & pb & j. I know we will share our meals with our 8 yr old since there's no way he could or should eat an adult sized meal but it sure would be a lot more special if he could order his own meal. Sorry to vent but I don't have kids of my own & this is the first time I'm taking someone younger than a teen & the choices just seem weird since at home there's so many choices for kids.

That said, I've seen the new adult menu at Spoodles but does anyone know about the new kids menu? We are eating there next month.

I don't know where the thread is but somebody posted it last week. I was disappointed beceause they no longer had the steak or the Portuguese fish stew but everyone seems to be giving the new menu good reviews. Maybe someone else has the new menu. I think it was Bicker.

The most recent Spoodles menu I can find is from December 2006 on AllEars; the one here on the DIS is from November 2006 but looks very similar, with just a couple of minor differences. Is there one newer than December 2006?

If you are looking for ethnic choices for kids, you'll have the best luck in Epcot. I listed some of the TS items earlier in the thread. Some CS meals for kids that look like there is some variety of choices:

MK --
Casey's Corner & Pete's Doggone Good Dogs: no kids' menu, kids have same options as adults.
El Pirata y el Perico: taco, cookie, and beverage
Main St Bakery: doesn't look like there's a kid' menu, so same options as adults.

AK --
Flame Tree: chicken wings or hot dog
Tusker House: mac and cheese or chicken drumstick
Pizzafari: cheese quesadilla may be ok, but why is there no pizza for kids?

MGM --
Catalina Eddie's: don't see kids' menu? same options as adults?
Toy Story Pizza Planet: no kids' menu, same options as adults
ABC Commissary: gets bad reviews, but kids' meals includes fried fish and vegetable noodle stir fry, specifies fries and soda available on request

Epcot -- some really unique and appetizing-sounding CS options for kids:
Cantina: grilled chicken and cheese quesadilla, tortilla chips and soft drink
Electric Umbrella: standard chick nuggets and mac & cheese, but also turkey and cheese pinwheels, at least it's something different...soda and fries on request
Fountain View: don't see kid's menu -- same choices as adults?
Sommerfest: don't see kid's menu -- same choices as adults?
Sunshine Seasons: sweet and sour chicken, mac & cheese, mini sub, chicken leg
Yorkshire Fish Shop: don't see kid's menu -- same choices as adults?
Lotus Blossom: egg roll and beef fried rice
Tangierine: burger, pizza, or chicken tenders, all with fries and drink. Hey, pizza and burgers in Morocco, yay!
Yakitori: teriyaki chicken w/veggies, rice, and soft drink

DTD
WPE: chicken fingers, mac & cheese (the GOOD stuff), cheese OR pepperoni pizza
EOS: PB&J, grilled cheese, turkey and swiss, pizza sandwich
Food Quest (in Disney Quest, requires admission): pasta, burger, hot dog
Cooke's: fish, battered chicken skewer, baby sausages, all with chips (fries)

Vegetarian choices for kids are not all that varied. Mac & cheese, cheese pizzas, PB&J, grilled cheese, cheese quesadilla. Lotsa cheese You could try asking at Yakitori for just veggies with rice, no chicken, ABC Commissary lists a vegetable noodle stir fry, and you could try asking at Pirata y Perico or the Cantina for a bean burrito -- they might have one you could even buy ala carte. Tomorrowland Noodle Terrace has a vegetable tofu noodle bowl, but it's on the adult menu. Buffets for TS will probably give vegetarian kids the most options. I've heard Boma has some good vegetarian options.
