I know there are a couple really good places to get sushi at WDW- could someone tell me which ones are table service and which ones are counterservice? Are there even any counterservice places that serve sushi?!
Also can you get sushi to go from any of the table service restaurants?
Thanks!

I've never had sushi to go at any of the places. If you happy to be near Tokyo Dining in the Japan pavilion at Epcot, you could probably find out from a hostess if they will do that.

I've eaten at Tokyo Dining, and the unagi roll was very good. I was happy that Tokyo Dining had a better selection than the former Matsu No Ma Lounge had.

I've walked up during lunch hours to the sushi bar at Wolfgang Puck's on Downtown Disney's West Side on a few occasions, and I found the sushi there to be very good, as well. The only place I hadn't tried sushi was Kimono's at the Swan resort, but I don't think they are open during lunch hours. (I could be wrong, though.)

I think Yakitori House is the only counter service place for it, but I think they only have California Rolls. Not the best quality compared to the table service places, IMHO.

California Grill has amazing sushi. Their sushi chef Yoshi is tops in the country-I think the #3 rated sushi chef. We are trying Kiminos next month (we are always there around lunch but they are only open for dinner.) We had sushi at Tokyo Dining a few weeks ago. I did not like it at all-tasted bad (not fresh.) The counter service sushi in Japan is also week. Wolfgang Pucks (DD) has good sushi as well.

Thanks for all the information! I love sushi so much! I could eat it on the fly or a sit down dinner. The reason I want to know if you can get it to go is so I can maximize my sushi intake at WDW!

The only to-go sushi I've seen has been grocery store type packages of rolled sushi at a couple of CS places. I had a spicy roll at Sunshine Seasons, and California roll from Capt Cooks as a late night snack. I haven't noticed it anywhere else.

Cali Grill was pretty good, but it's not inexpensive. Not sure it was worth the price IMO - even with DDP.

Kimonos was quite good. Still a little pricey, but not out of the water the last time we went. Later in the evenings they have karioke (sp?) - can be fun or annoying, depending...We usually sit at the sushi bar and the chefs were great the last time we did.

The last time I ate in the TS Japan eatery in the WS was Nov 2006, shortly before it changed. I didn't have sushi because we ate at the hibachi side and the way the menu was not conducive to getting it (it was like an extra appetizer, and the meal was already pricey enough...). I generally liked the food though.

The QS in Japan has always been one of our favorites. They only have a few sushi rolls, nothing to get excited about, and the miso soup is lousy, but other items are quite good. It all used to be outstanding, and hopefully it's improved withthe changes. In place of the miso soup, the udon with shrimp was excellent. The sushi is not made to order, but it's fresh.

We were very disappointed with Wolgang Pucks the last time we ate there. It was largely our server's fault, she was pretty bad, but also we didn't think the food was all that great either. Our waitress didn't bring bread until we asked, but then it wasn't very good. The sushi wasn't made the way we ordered it, we sent it back, and it was very late in arriving back to us. I forget waht I ordered, but it didn't really match the description on the menu. The people behind us had trouble too. Last, we found out after the bill came that they didn't take DDP - I'm pretty sure we asked when we sat down...On the other hand - the QS Wolfgang's at the other end has always been one of our favorite eateries at DTD.

I forgot - I don't know if they still have it - and it's not really a sushi place per say - but the best 'sushi' I ever had on Disney property was the raw tuna stack at the Flying Fish! I think it's one of their signature items, so I think they will still have it. It's a little spicey. "Spicey" sushi often doesn't agree with me, but this one did. It's only an appetizer, but Wow! Yumm!
