Here in PB Gardens, we've only had about 15 minutes of rain...about 5 hours ago. Supposed to have more tomorrow, but nothing to worry about. The news in reporting that the eye is rapidly falling apart, all hurricane watches have been discontinued, with wind gusts of 30-40 mph. Glad I didn't put up the shutters!!

:confused3 Lot more rain here, some wind, off and on! I guess the worst isn't here yet, or what? Thank goodness I didn't spend a bunch of Money on suppplies. ;) Our house and the house next door are the only 2 on this street boarded up! DH says THEY are the smart ones. :rolleyes1

You know it's not all that bad (here anyway) that they go from the news all day back to regular night time programming.

Glad, I only put half the shutters.

We were at Delray beach around 3:00, and the waves weren't bad either. Every now and then you saw a 5 foot one, but most were 2-3 feet. But the breeze was awesome.

My newest neighbor and I had words this afternoon, because my plastic porch chairs were still outside. I understand worrying about storms, but her attitude really stunk. She came over with a 'tude in her voice, "Are you going to put those away?". I said "Yes, we've done this before!" (And yes, I copped a 'tude after her 'tude.) Then she was "Ok, just curious, hon." One thing I hate people who start off having an attitude, then call me hon.

Then as I'm leaving to take DS to boxing class, her garbage cans are stil outside. :confused3

I love having those chairs still out there. We will put them up, but we usually do sit outside before a storm, as long as it's still safe.

I believe it will still pick up more, closer to midnight.

I'm thankful that we dodged another one, but there can still be some nasty weather with this.

I was actually hoping that it would veer out to the Atlantic and touch down in Ct. and blow my roof off! We are in the process of having the house painted. I asked the painter while we were gone if he would check out our roof. He did. He was so concerned he went across the street to my neighbor (who is a roofing contractor) and asked him to patch two holes in my roof. WHO KNEW!! :confused3 Anyway, I spoke with my neighbor's wife and we need a new roof!
Lets see, I need a new rotator cuff, a new vehicle for DS 21, a new roof...anyone want to add to the list? ;)

The weather channel is saying that this storm as of 8:15 pm the center is very close to coming on shore. Weak storms such as this tend not to weaken much as it comes over land. There will be gusts and heavy rain with the strongest winds still south of the storm.
Expected 4-8 inches of rain for Miami/Ft Lauderdale area and 3-5 inches further north.

We didn't bother putting up any shutters, but we did take in the pool furniture and stocked up on water and batteries and snacks :)

This made me laugh. :thumbsup2

One of our friends got lucky during Charley 2 years ago. His garage roof collapsed on top of his car which was a run down jalopy. The insurance company cut him a check enough to replace it with a better car. He was as happy as a pig in slops.

Weather channel now has someone else on commenting about the storm,.
He is saying there will be very heavy rain through the night for South Florida with localized flooding.

Heavy rain for the mid atlantic states later this week.

We're keeping an eye on Ernesto. It wouldn't be the first time a Cat 1 hurricane went out to the Gulf, turned into a Cat 4 and then took a sharp right into Charlotte Harbor. :bitelip:

Our biggest problem is getting my 87 year old mother to leave her house. Yanno, we keep on threatening to leave her during a hurricane, but we all know we don't mean it.

Maybe I should park the pick up truck in the living room and hope for the best! :rotfl2:

Funny you should say that, DH parked the Rav4 in the back, under the porch, and now....its parked back in the front! :lmao: Also, my front shutters are NO longer closed, they are open. ERNESTO is a DUD! :rolleyes1

Our neighborhood is kinda having a unplanned block party right now. I've been going in and out all night and the grills are cooking and the beer is flowing. Everyone's just happy that Ernesto's turned into a non-event and are planning to enjoy their day off tomorrow. It's just a matter of staying dry and off the roads, basically a typical Florida summer afternoon. ;)

We've had rain here and some wind, but it's not constant.

I've had it with the hurricanes... Earlier tonight I asked DH to warm up some sauce in the microwave. He asked what container to use, I told him to use a hurricane proof container. :bitelip:   I didn't even realize what I had said until he repeated it back to me. :sad2: :teeth:

Intesiting forecasting was over the top, according to Max Mayfeild....no wonder he is retiring! :sad2: I cannot believe I got suckered into this "Hurricane is coming, we are all going to die" crap again! :rolleyes1 GET IT RIGHT PEOPLE YOU HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY!!!!

Glad to hear its turning into a DUD!! We, Lake county, are the only ones with schools open tomorrow although they are releasing an extra hour early, we already get out an hour early every Wednesday.

What do you mean "the only ones"? Plenty of schools around FL are open tomorrow.

Yep. Hillsborough's open with no early closures, etc. I hope most of the rain's gone by tomorrow morning, otherwise it's going to be a very wet morning at the bus stop.

I'll take a dud over destruction! :thumbsup2

Storms/hurricanes do whatever they want, there's no technology that can predict their path and intensity with 100% certainty. These guys at the NHC work non-stop, it's a stressful job.

It's still raining here.

This is not true.

On another thread I commented about chuckling when I hear about people getting upset when they make the 7 day out forecasts. Even with all the technology that is available, the actual prediction is almost impossible, especially 7 days out.

Heck, they got it wrong with Charley big time. There was only one spaghetti computer prediction that proved to be correct and this was shown on Fox 13 out of Tampa about 3 days before Charley made his turn.

We must be prepared for every storm because our lives depend on being prepared. Please let us not become complacent.

We're getting some moderate rain right now. I'm thrilled this storm "Dudded" out. :teeth:

My only concern now are the errant tornadoes that seem to love this type of system. With that in mind, my weather radio is sitting by my side.

I would always rather have the weather service err on the side of caution. We watched a show about the 1938 hurricane last night that I Tivo'd. Such terrible devastation! :( There was only one newly hired meteorologist who understood where that storm was going and what it would do. All the old timers poo poo'd him and said hurricane's always died out in the north Atlantic. Well, the rest is history.

Give me a Dud any day.
