Hi guys! I hope I am posting in the right place..

We have 7 adults and 3 kids going to WDW during President's week (Feb 2017) due to wanting to fit it in my little sister's school schedule. We are staying offsite and purchased the tickets from officialticketcenter.com. I have already linked the tickets to the MDE due to wanting to make some dining reservations at the 180 days mark, which I was also able to do for Fantasmic! Dining Package.

However, someone from our party just informed me that they would have to cancel their portion of the trip. This is fine since I know that we can just keep the ticket for future use as long as it has not been used. But this is also the first time I've ever used MDE to link tickets and making reservations. I have been looking for ways to un-link that person from the tickets but haven't been able to find it. What can I do at this point? Also, how can I make changes to the dining reservation as well, since I don't see the option to de-select someone from the party?

I can't answer about the ticket, but as for dining, just leave it, unless it was something you needed to pre-pay for, like CRT. The only way to change a dining reservation is to re-book. You will not be charged a now-show for one person not showing up.

You can't unlink a ticket from MDE but you can reassign it to another person in your MDE account.

In this case, if I just leave it linked to the person that's not going, it wouldn't matter? Say they want to use that ticket in 2019, they can just go ahead and do that?

Assuming that this person is a "friend" in your MyDex account, navigate to the page that shows all of your reservations, including your tickets. Under this person's ticket there should be a link to "reassign". One option is to assign it to one of your existing party members, but that can get tricky if they have more than one assigned ticket, since you then have to "prioritize" the tickets to be sure which one is used when you tap your band to enter a park.
A possibility that may be better is to create an artificial "friend", name it "Zeke Zerwamorshafoski", or even some other real person who might travel with you in the future. Use "reassign" to park the ticket on their account. When it comes time to use that ticket, it can always be reassigned to a real person.
As a bonus, you can make fastpasses for Zeke, and use that ticket for attraction access even though Zeke isn't actually in the park. (Or anywhere else, for that matter.)

Yup or you can reassign it in the future if need be. You can't unlink it to sell to a stranger (or return to a ticket vendor like Undercover Tourist) but you can always reassign unused MYW tickets to anyone in your MDE account. The only caveat is if the person not going is an adult with their own MDE account (and your accounts are simply linked). In that case only the person the ticket is currently linke to an actually reassign. You can only reassign if you manage them in your MDE account.

If you are concerned about the dining situation, you can call them and have the extra person removed (there is no option to do that either online or on the app, so you do have to call). They don't have to redo your ADR, they can just update the number of people. Have your confirmation number handy if you call.

If you do reassign the "extra" ticket and you need your tickets prioritized, you can stop at guest services, or if you are onsite in a Disney hotel you can stop by concierge and they can do that for you as well.

BTW, it was not necessary to assign the tickets just to make dining reservations. Anyone can make ADRs at 180 days, regardless of where they're staying or whether they have tickets or not. tickets being attached is only necessary for FP+.

But now that they are assigned, just follow the advice above.

That has not been the experience for many people.

You should have an option to reassign the ticket to someone else (could be you) if it's unused. It doesn't appear if your on linked mde accounts though but it will appear for your sister on her account (again linked mde accounts) to reassign it to you..

Also since you paid for it,generally you can call up and disney will reassign it for you. they would probably also remove the ticket completely if you haven't paid in full yet.. another adult would tie into possible room fees and other costs that you could remove now witha slight reservation change (that should be free to do)

also is this the fantasmic dining package your trying to remove? that I think isn't possible but still call, disney is actually very helpful if your nice to them.

If that's the case, I'd call back and speak to someone else without changing anything. I've done it before with no issues at all. Now, adding someone else is not something I've done.

ETA; as already mentioned, it may be different with a pre-paid plan, as I know others have tried to "game the system" by deliberately booking for a larger number of people and then calling later to remove one/some, or someone pre-paying and then not making it to the ressie. Not that I'm judging trying to book an ADR by booking more people, if it works it works, but it is different than a regular ADR and may be handled differently. I don't have experience with that situation. :)
