We are going to be at dw from 2-26-05 until 3-3-05 We have scheduled hdr for 3-1=05 but dh does not want to schedule anything else and wants to eat at more affordable restraunts any ideas this is driving me nuts.

I would go to allearsnet.com, print out all the menus and show him that if you do not make some reservations you will be eating chicken fingers, pizza and burgers all the time!! My husband was like that too until I did this little trick, make the reservations for lunch so you can snack for dinner, it is cheaper that way too!

"Affordable" is a matter of opinion. I consider the following restaurants to be "affordable" and they're among my favorites: 50s Prime Time (at D-MGM), Whispering Canyon (worth the boat ride from MK), and Marrakesh (at Epcot). If those are too pricey, I'd probably aim to do counter-service, such as Seasons (at Epcot), Tusker House (at Animal Kingdom), Studio Catering (at D-MGM) and Plaza (at MK).

A nice option for some meals would be a buffet or family style meal. This way everyone can get what they like, as much as they like. Plus lunch is always cheaper than dinner. Also, some of the counter places have large portions, so you can share a meal. I went one year with someone and all they wanted to do is eat fast food (hot dog or hamburger) and nothing else. After a few days, I was sick to death of eating that. Some places I would recommend:

Crystal Palace (buffet)
Whispering Canyon Cafe
O'Hana's (family-style & all-you-can-eat)
Casey's (counter)
Liberty Tree Tavern (dinner is family-style & all-you-can-eat)
Cosmic Ray's (counter)
Garden Grill (family-style & all-you-can-eat)
50's Primetime Cafe
Tusker House (counter)

The counter service restaurants are the less expensive places in each park. However, none are going to be cheap. You are talking $7-$8 for a hamburger meal, salad, or chicken strips. I agree that the best thing to do is eat lunch in the nice places so you can sample them. Then eat some fast food or snacks for dinner. While you are on vacation, count on throwing all rules about meals out the window.

I remember someone here saying "In Disney, ice cream is a meal". Sometimes, we'll have a Mickey bar and call it lunch.
