Trying to plan trip in hopes of Disney Free Dining

We are looking to plan a trip to Disney World for either Sept. or Oct. of 2012. We are hoping that Disney will announce/extend free dining to sometime during these two months, From what I have read, a lot of disney planning sites think that Disney will have free dining from Aug 27 until the end of September.

So my question is, If I go ahead and book my Hotel/Park tickets and free dining comes along, can I call and ask for the free dining package? and/or If free dining doesn't get announced for that time, can I call later on and add on a dining plan for my family?

I hope I didn't make this too confusing!

Oops, forgot to answer your question...yes, you can always call Disney and add on any current offers to your reservation!

For several years it was offered the last two weeks or so of August, but I believe last year it didn't start until the last weekend of the month. I'm assuming that's why some are predicting it will be later this year as well.

Like you, I'm planning to go the week before. Let's hope they decide to go with the earlier dates.

Yes, you can call and add on a dining package if free dining doesn't come out for your dates. I think you can add a dining package up to 48 hours before your arrival date, but someone else can confirm.

If free dining does get added for your dates, you can call and ask for the free dining promo to be added to your package. I would do it as soon as the promo is released because each resort is only allotted a certain number of free dining rooms and once they are gone, you can no longer switch to free dining. Unless another resort still has rooms and you are willing to change resorts.
